GDINA: An R Package for Cognitive Diagnosis Modeling
Cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) have attracted increasing attention in educational measurement because of their potential to provide diagnostic feedback about students' strengths and weaknesses. This article introduces the feature-rich R package GDINA for conducting a variety of CDM analyses. Built upon a general model framework, a number of CDMs can be calibrated using the GDINA package. Functions are also available for evaluating model-data fit, detecting differential item functioning, validating the item and attribute association, and examining classification accuracy. A grapical user interface is also provided for researchers who are less familar with R. This paper contains both technical details about model estimation and illustrations about how to use the package for data analysis. The GDINA package is also used to replicate published results, showing that it could provide comparable model parameter estimation
Bridging Parametric and Nonparametric Methods in Cognitive Diagnosis
A number of parametric and nonparametric methods for estimating cognitive
diagnosis models (CDMs) have been developed and applied in a wide range of
contexts. However, in the literature, a wide chasm exists between these two
families of methods, and their relationship to each other is not well
understood. In this paper, we propose a unified estimation framework to bridge
the divide between parametric and nonparametric methods in cognitive diagnosis
to better understand their relationship. We also develop iterative joint
estimation algorithms and establish consistency properties within the proposed
framework. Lastly, we present comprehensive simulation results to compare
different methods, and provide practical recommendations on the appropriate use
of the proposed framework in various CDM contexts
Enhancing portfolio performance and VIX futures trading timing with markov-switching GARCH models
In the present paper, we test the use of Markov-Switching (MS) models with time-fixed or Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) variances. This, to enhance the performance of a U.S. dollar-based portfolio that invest in the S&P 500 (SP500) stock index, the 3-month U.S. Treasury-bill (T-BILL) or the 1-month volatility index (VIX) futures. For the investment algorithm, we propose the use of two and three-regime, Gaussian and t-Student, MS and MS-GARCH models. This is done to forecast the probability of high volatility episodes in the SP500 and to determine the investment level in each asset. To test the algorithm, we simulated 8 portfolios that invested in these three assets, in a weekly basis from 23 December 2005 to 14 August 2020. Our results suggest that the use of MS and MS-GARCH models and VIX futures leads the simulated portfolio to outperform a buy and hold strategy in the SP500. Also, we found that this result holds only in high and extreme volatility periods. As a recommendation for practitioners, we found that our investment algorithm must be used only by institutional investors, given the impact of stock trading fees. This research was funded by the Coordinación de la Investigación Científica at Universidad

DESCRIPCIÓN Y ANÁLISIS DEL GRADO DE APLICACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA INFORMÁTICO DE CUIDADOS, AZAHAR, EN EL HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO REINA SOFÍA DE CÓRDOBA. PLANTEAMIENTO DE NUEVAS LÍNEAS DE ACTUACIÓN
To provide qualitative nursing care starting from a jointly unity criteria was one of the objectives to register and manage the nursing care process through a computer program at the Hospital of Reina Sofia in Cordoba. We present a first assessment on its application.
Moving object detection and tracking system : a real-time implementation
