Signatures of Non-Universal Soft Breaking Sfermion Masses at Hadron Colliders
We identify several mass patterns, within the framework of N=1 SUGRA with
nonuniversal soft breaking masses for the sfermions, which may significantly
alter SUSY signals and the current squark-gluino mass limits from the Tevatron.
These effects are illustrated in a SO(10) SUSY GUT with an intermediate mass
scale, but the conclusions are also valid in SUSY SO(10) models with grand

Nutrient profile of pond water in north-eastern state of Tripura and impact of water acidity on aquaculture productivity
Physicochemical parameters of 31 fish pond water samples of Tripura were studied to ascertain the nutrient profile of acidic soil zone and the impact of water acidity towards aquaculture productivity. The pH was acidic (mean 6.63±0.44) with high Fe (mean1.04±0.40 mglËÂč) and AI (mean 2.67±2.41 mglËÂč) contents. These were mostly responsible for pond water acidity and poor productivity with low nitrogen, phosphate and total alkalinity. The study also showed strong negative relationship between water pH and redox potential (RÂČ=0.5251). However, pH was positively significant with electrical conductivity. The roles of redox potential and electrical conductivity in water acidity were found highly important. Available calcium content was also found low (mean 2.91±2.96 mglËÂč). Elevating level of pH of pond water could be the possible management practices in acidic water so that such unproductive water might be productive enough with higher phosphate and nitrogen levels for better biological production
Gravitational uncertainties from dimension-six operators on supersymmetric GUT predictions
We consider the gravity induced dimension six terms in addition to the
dimension five terms in the SUSY GUT Lagrangian and find that the prediction
for may be washed out completely in supersymmetric grand unified

Copper Alloy-Impregnated Carbon-Carbon Hybrid Composites for Electronic Packaging Applications
Porous carbon-carbon preforms, based on three-dimensional networks of PAN (Polyacrylonitrile)-based carbon fibers and various volume fractions of chemical vapor-deposited (CVD) carbon, were impregnated by oxygen-free, high-conductivity (OFHC) Cu, Cu-6Si-0.9Cr, and Cu-0.3Si-0.3Cr (wt pct) alloys by pressure infiltration casting. The obtained composites were characterized for their coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and thermal conductivity (K) along the through-thickness and two in-plane directions. One composite, with a 28 vol pct Cu-0.3Si-0.3Cr alloy, showed outstanding potential for thermal management applications in electronic applications. This composite exhibited approximately isotropic thermal expansion properties (CTE = 4 to 6.5 ppm/K) and thermal conductivities (k greater than or equal to 260 W/m K)
Mixing in the Presence of Isosinglet Quarks
We analyse transitions in the framework of a minimal extension
of the Standard Model where either a or a isosinglet quark is
added to the standard quark spectrum. In the case of a isosinglet
quark, it is shown that there is a significant region of parameter space where
mixing is sufficiently enhanced to be observed at the next
round of experiments. On the contrary, in the case of a isosinglet
quark, it is pointed out that obtaining a substancial enhancement of mixing, while complying with the experimental constraints on rare
kaon decays, requires a contrived choice of parameters.Comment: 10 pages plus four figures. The figures are not included but are

Parametric quantum spin pump
We investigate a non-adiabatic parametric quantum pump consists of a
nonmagnetic scattering region connected by two ferromagnetic leads. The
presence of ferromagnetic leads allows electrons with different spins to
experience different potential landscape. Using this effect we propose a
quantum spin pump that drives spin-up electrons to flow in one direction and
spin-down electrons to flow in opposite direction. As a result, the spin pump
can deliver a spin current with vanishing charge current
Formation of dense partonic matter in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions at RHIC: Experimental evaluation by the PHENIX collaboration
Extensive experimental data from high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions were
recorded using the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider
(RHIC). The comprehensive set of measurements from the first three years of
RHIC operation includes charged particle multiplicities, transverse energy,
yield ratios and spectra of identified hadrons in a wide range of transverse
momenta (p_T), elliptic flow, two-particle correlations, non-statistical
fluctuations, and suppression of particle production at high p_T. The results
are examined with an emphasis on implications for the formation of a new state
of dense matter. We find that the state of matter created at RHIC cannot be

Global Search for New Physics with 2.0/fb at CDF
Data collected in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron are searched for
indications of new electroweak-scale physics. Rather than focusing on
particular new physics scenarios, CDF data are analyzed for discrepancies with
the standard model prediction. A model-independent approach (Vista) considers
gross features of the data, and is sensitive to new large cross-section
physics. Further sensitivity to new physics is provided by two additional
algorithms: a Bump Hunter searches invariant mass distributions for "bumps"
that could indicate resonant production of new particles; and the Sleuth
procedure scans for data excesses at large summed transverse momentum. This
combined global search for new physics in 2.0/fb of ppbar collisions at
sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV reveals no indication of physics beyond the standard model.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures. Final version which appeared in Physical Review D

Measurement of the CP-Violating Asymmetry Amplitude sin2
We present results on time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in neutral B decays to several CP eigenstates. The measurements use a data sample of about 88 million Y(4S) --> B Bbar decays collected between 1999 and 2002 with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We study events in which one neutral B meson is fully reconstructed in a final state containing a charmonium meson and the other B meson is determined to be either a B0 or B0bar from its decay products. The amplitude of the CP-violating asymmetry, which in the Standard Model is proportional to sin2beta, is derived from the decay-time distributions in such events. We measure sin2beta = 0.741 +/- 0.067 (stat) +/- 0.033 (syst) and |lambda| = 0.948 +/- 0.051 (stat) +/- 0.017 (syst). The magnitude of lambda is consistent with unity, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation of no direct CP violation in these modes
