Number of vortices generated in a rotating Bose-Einstein condensates in two-dimensional optical lattice

In the present paper we calculate the number of vortices generated in a rotating Bose-Einstein condensate in two-dimensional optical lattice. Our approach enabled us to parametrize the vortices number in terms of the thermodynamic potential q(T)q(T) for the system under consideration. The thermodynamic potential is calculated using the semiclassical approximation approach. The finite size and the interatomic interaction effects are investigated. The calculated results show that the vortices number as a function of the angular velocity of rotation rate depends on the normalized temperature, number of particles, interatomic interaction, and optical potential

Computed Tomographic Features of the Camel Nasal Myiasis

The purpose of this work was to describe the computed tomographic (CT) features of nasal myiasis in camel (Camelus dromedarius), which caused by the larvae of camel nasal botfly Cephalopina titillator. Twenty infested heads of emergency slaughtered camels and five normal heads were obtained for the study. The normal anatomical features of the nasal cavity in CT images were identical to their cross sections without any pathological changes. The most commonly encountered CT findings in the infested group were (1) unilateral-rounded foci of soft tissue or fluid opacity in the ventral nasal concha in 100 % of cases, the foci also found bilaterally in the ethmoidal labyrinth 20% and frontal sinuses 5%. (2) Kidney-shaped hypolucent foci were found unilaterally in the ventral bulla 20% (3) Specific pattern of lesions distribution, which tend to be localized in three levels, the caudal two thirds of the ventral nasal concha, the ethmoidal labyrinth and the frontal sinus. It was concluded that, CT may be useful in detecting intranasal pathological changes associated with Cephalopina larval infestation in camel

Scale Invariance and the AdS/CFT Correspondence

Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we show that the Anti-de Sitter (AdS) rotating (Kerr) black holes in five and seven dimensions provide us with examples of non-trivial field theories which are scale, but not conformally invariant. This is demonstrated by our computation of the actions and the stress-energy tensors of the four and six dimensional field theories residing on the boundary of these Kerr-AdS black holes spacetimes.Comment: 3 pages. The Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Based on the Handicraft in Reducing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder among Hearing Impaired University Students

    Get PDF
The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based on the use of handicrafts in reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among university students with hearing impairments. A total of 12 hearing impaired students were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=6, M=19.47, SD=3.55) or the control group (n=6, M=19.47, SD=3.55). Participants in the experimental group underwent fifteen sessions of group-based ACT using handicrafts. The researchers measured PTSD symptoms before, immediately, after, and two months after the therapy sessions. The findings revealed that ACT based on the use of handicrafts effectively reduced symptoms of PTSD in the experimental group on the post-test and follow-up assessments. These results indicate that ACT based on the use of handicrafts may be a valuable approach in treating individuals with PTSD

Reaction of nitrilimines and nitrile oxides with hydrazines, hydrazones and oximes

This review article discusses the reaction of nitrilimines and nitrile oxides with hydrazines, hydrazones, and oximes. Three reaction modes were observed. The article mainly covers our work published over the last fifteen years, in which interesting heterocyles such as oxadiazoles, triazoles, and tetrazines were synthesized and fully characterized. A Bestiary of Higher Dimensional Taub-NUT-AdS Spacetimes

We present a menagerie of solutions to the vacuum Einstein equations in six, eight and ten dimensions. These solutions describe spacetimes which are either locally asymptotically adS or locally asymptotically flat, and which have non-trivial topology. We discuss the global structure of these solutions, and their relevance within the context of M-theory.Comment: 11 pages, LaTex(v4: Comments and references added

A novel machine learning model for autonomous analysis and diagnosis of well integrity failures in artificial-lift production systems

    Get PDF
The integrity failure in gas lift wells had been proven to be more severe than other artificial lift wells across the industry. Accurate risk assessment is an essential requirement for predicting well integrity failures. In this study, a machine learning model was established for automated and precise prediction of integrity failures in gas lift wells. The collected data contained 9,000 data arrays with 23 features. Data arrays were structured and fed into 11 different machine learning algorithms to build an automated systematic tool for calculating the imposed risk of any well. The study models included both single and ensemble supervised learning algorithms (e.g., random forest, support vector machine, decision tree, and scalable boosting techniques). Comparative analysis of the deployed models was performed to determine the best predictive model. Further, novel evaluation metrics for the confusion matrix of each model were introduced. The results showed that extreme gradient boosting and categorical boosting outperformed all the applied algorithms. They can predict well integrity failures with an accuracy of 100% using traditional or proposed metrics. Physical equations were also developed on the basis of feature importance extracted from the random forest algorithm. The developed model will help optimize company resources and dedicate personnel efforts to high-risk wells. As a result, progressive improvements in health, safety, and environment and business performance can be achieved.Cited as: Salem, A. M., Yakoot, M. S., Mahmoud, O.
