Event Recognition Using Signal Spectrograms in Long Pulse Experiments
As discharge duration increases, real-time complex analysis of the signal becomes more important. In this context, data acquisition and processing systems must provide models for designing experiments which use event oriented plasma control. One example of advanced data analysis is signal classification. The off-line statistical analysis of a large number of discharges provides information to develop algorithms for the determination of the plasma parameters from measurements of magnetohydrodinamic waves, for example, to detect density fluctuations induced by the Alfvén cascades using morphological patterns. The need to apply different algorithms to the signals and to address different processing algorithms using the previous results necessitates the use of an event-based experiment. The Intelligent Test and Measurement System platform is an example of architecture designed to implement distributed data acquisition and real-time processing systems. The processing algorithm sequence is modeled using an event-based paradigm. The adaptive capacity of this model is based on the logic defined by the use of state machines in SCXML. Harmonic states for the free particle
Different families of states, which are solutions of the time-dependent free
Schr\"odinger equation, are imported from the harmonic oscillator using the
Quantum Arnold Transformation introduced in a previous paper. Among them,
infinite series of states are given that are normalizable, expand the whole
space of solutions, are spatially multi-localized and are eigenstates of a
suitably defined number operator. Associated with these states new sets of
coherent and squeezed states for the free particle are defined representing
traveling, squeezed, multi-localized wave packets. These states are also
constructed in higher dimensions, leading to the quantum mechanical version of
the Hermite-Gauss and Laguerre-Gauss states of paraxial wave optics. Some
applications of these new families of states and procedures to experimentally

Statistical tests of symbolic dynamics
A novel general method for constructing nonparametric hypotheses tests based on the field of symbolic analysis is introduced in this paper. Several existing tests based on symbolic entropy that have been used for testing central hypotheses in several branches of science (particularly in economics and statistics) are particular cases of this general approach. This family of symbolic tests uses few assumptions, which increases the general applicability of any symbolic-based test. Additionally, as a theoretical application of this method, we construct and put forward four new statistics to test for the null hypothesis of spatiotemporal independence. There are very few tests in the specialized literature in this regard. The new tests were evaluated with the mean of several Monte Carlo experiments. movilidad IP, balanceo de carga y alta disponibilidad por medio de la herramienta de virtualización de código abierto VNUML. Para mostrar estos conceptos hemos añadido diversas utilidades al sistema de ficheros utilizado en VNUML. Gracias a estas herramientas, los alumnos han podido mejorar

The paradoxical relationship between emotion regulation and gambling-related cognitive biases

Gambling behavior presents substantial individual variability regarding its severity, manifestations,
and psychological correlates. Specifically, differences in emotion regulation, impulsivity,
and cognitive distortions have been identified as crucial to describe individual profiles
with implications for the prevention, prognosis, and treatment of gambling disorder (GD).
Aims and method
The aim of the present study was to investigate the associations of gambling-related cognitions
(measured according to the GRCS model) with impulsivity (UPPS-P model) and emotion
regulation (CERQ model), in a sample of 246 gamblers with different levels of gambling
involvement, using mixed-effects modelling to isolate theoretically relevant associations
while controlling for the potentially confounding effects of sociodemographic and clinical
covariates.
Results
Affective/motivational dimensions of UPPS-P impulsivity positive urgency and sensation
seeking, on the one hand, and CERQ emotion regulation strategies reappraisal, rumination
and blaming others, on the other, independently and significantly predicted distorted gambling-
related cognitions.
Conclusions
These results (a) reinforce the ones of previous studies stressing the relevance of emotional
and motivational processes in the emergence of gambling-related cognitive distortions; and
(b) replicate the seemingly paradoxical finding that gamblers use emotion regulation strategies
customarily considered as adaptive (i.e. reappraisal) to strengthen and justify their

MEXICAN WILD LUPINES AS A SOURCE OF QUINOLIZIDINE ALKALOIDS OF ECONOMIC POTENTIAL
Quinolizidine alkaloids such as lupanine,13-hydroxylupanine, multiflorine, angustifoline and sparteine, which are present inthe species of the genus Lupinus, have beenreported to have biopesticide and pharmacological activities. The aim of this studywas to quantify the content and variationof the individual alkaloids in seeds of L.mexicanus, L. exaltatus, L. montanus andL. stipulatus collected in different states ofMexico. Lupanine was the major (5.05 ±0.37 mg/g) alkaloid found in L. mexicanus,whereas sparteine was the main alkaloidpresent in L. montanus (3.97 ± 0.49 mg/g).Conversely, L. stipulatus contained onlysmall quantities of lupanine and sparteine(0.1 ± 0.002 and 0.04 ± 0.01 mg/g, respectively). Angustifoline was detected only in L.montanus, but in a very low amount (0.048± 0.03). Nonlinear response of single-molecule nanomagnets: equilibrium and dynamical
We present an experimental study of the {\em nonlinear} susceptibility of
Mn single-molecule magnets. We investigate both their
thermal-equilibrium and dynamical nonlinear responses. The equilibrium results
show the sensitivity of the nonlinear susceptibility to the magnetic
anisotropy, which is nearly absent in the linear response for axes distributed
at random. The nonlinear dynamic response of Mn was recently found to be
very large and displaying peaks reversed with respect to classical
superparamagnets [F. Luis {\em et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 92}, 107201
(2004)]. Here we corroborate the proposed explanation -- strong field
dependence of the relaxation rate due to the detuning of tunnel energy levels.
This is done by studying the orientational dependence of the nonlinear
susceptibility, which permits to isolate the quantum detuning contribution.
Besides, from the analysis of the longitudinal and transverse contributions we
estimate a bound for the decoherence time due to the coupling to the phonon

The role of impulsivity in dropout from treatment for cigarette smoking
AbstractImpulsivity is a variable that has been associated with drug use. This study analyzes impulsivity from two different paradigms, one considering it as a trait and the other based on its behavioral correlates, such as disinhibition and impulsive decision-making in the treatment prognosis (maintain abstinence, relapse and dropout) of smokers after outpatient treatment. The participants in the study were 113 smokers who requested treatment for nicotine addiction. They were assigned to three groups according to whether or not they remained abstinent one month after beginning treatment; thus, group 1 was abstinent, group 2 had relapsed, and group 3 had dropped out of treatment. The participants filled out the Semi-structured Interview for Smokers, the Fargerström Test for Nicotine Dependence, the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised (TCI-R) and the Delay Discounting Task (DDT). The Delay Discounting variable presents lower scores in the dropout group than in the relapse and abstinent groups, with the highest scores in the relapse group. Differences were also found on the Harm Avoidance (HA) variable, with lower scores in the dropout group compared to the relapse group. The importance of these results lies in the consideration of the smoker’s personality profile in order to prevent both dropout and relapse
