    La investigación centrada en los problemas de la transición ha motivado a los autores de este ensayo a compartir con sus colegas nacionales e internacionales sus hallazgos y sus innovaciones. El artículo revisa el concepto de transición desde una perspectiva múltiple y sintetiza varias investigaciones desarrolladas durante esta última década por el equipo Transiciones Académicas y Laborales (TRALS), algunas centradas en transiciones convencionales y otras, en problemas no tan convencionales. El análisis de las investigaciones más significativas expone los objetivos, la metodología, las características y las fuentes de cada trabajo. Las repercusiones de distintas investigaciones relacionadas con la política educativa global para la evitación del abandono escolar y académico, se ven complementadas con una serie de sugerencias en torno a la intervención psicopedagógica para orientar a personas en transición, siguiendo modelos didácticos y psicológicos de autores clásicos en el tema

    Online Master's Students' Profile and Motives for Enrollment.

    This research addresses the profile and motives for enrollment of online master's students in three different fields of knowledge (humanities, social sciences and experimental sciences) at an online university. The data has been collected through an ad hoc questionnaire; the sample, obtained of 253 UNIBA master's students, has been analyzed using a descriptive methodology and a factor and comparative analysis of the investigation dimensions. The results include the different access profiles of the students that have been identified based on a set of sociodemographic variables. Furthermore, the differences between their motives for enrolling and the latent factors that can be identified. These results are discussed, and compared to traditional, face-to-face, master's degrees, which have had an extremely increase on enrollment in the last few years. The importance of guidance and tutoring are examined as tools to guarantee quality standards and support student's perseverance and overall success

    Interactions between a transform fault and arc volcanism in the Bismarck Sea, Papua New Guinea

    We present a new interpretation of the geological evolution of the western branch of the Bismarck Sea Seismic Lineation (BSSL) region, offshore the northwestern coast of Papua New Guinea, from mapping and interpretation of bathymetry and backscatter data acquired aboard R/V Kilo Moana in 2004. At present, the Schouten Islands parallel the Papua New Guinea coast, but this distribution results from the left-lateral displacement of some of these volcanic islands by the Bismarck Sea Seismic Lineation. The trend of the islands and seamounts was initially aligned N-S and then displaced by the BSSL. Wei Island lies on a large submarine edifice that may have formed as part of a leaky transform. Subsequent to forming, Wei Island was bisected, and its pieces were displaced 45 km.     Alumnado emigrante: Satisfacción y actitudes ante la formación en su transición a niveles post obligatorios

    Este artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación denominada 'El éxito en las trayectorias formativas obligatorias y post obligatorias en contextos multiculturales', de carácter descriptivo y comprensivo, de jóvenes inmigrantes de la comarca del Garraf, Catalunya. Trata de profundizar en la transición a la educación postobligatoria y en los factores relacionados con el éxito y la persistencia en ella, a través de un estudio descriptivo por encuesta, desarrollado en 2008. Conocida la relevancia de la integración académica en la persistencia de los estudiantes, esta aportación analiza los resultados de la encuesta referidos a las variables de adaptación y ajuste académico. El estudio se ha realizado a partir de la elaboración ad hoc de dos escalas: escala AC, formada por 12 ítems y escala AF, de 16 ítems. Los resultados permiten avanzar en el análisis de los factores de éxito y aportan evidencias para elaborar medidas de prevención

    Morphostructure at the junction between the Beata ridge and the Greater Antilles island arc (offshore Hispaniola southern slope)

    Oblique convergence between the Caribbean plate's interior and the inactive Greater Antilles island arc has resultedin the collision and impingement of the thickened crust of theBeata ridge into southern Hispaniola Island. Deformation resulting from this convergence changes from a low-angle southward-verging thrust south of easternHispaniola, to collision and uplift in south-central Hispaniola, and to left-lateral transpression along theSouthern peninsula of Haiti in western Hispaniola. Using new swath bathymetry and a dense seismic reflectiongrid, we mapped the morphological, structural and sedimentological Elements of offshore southern Hispaniola.We have identified four morphotectonic provinces: the Dominican sub-basin, the Muertos margin, the Beataridge and the Haiti sub-basin. The lower slope of the Muertos margin is occupied by the active Muertos thrustbelt, which includes several active out-of-sequence thrust faults that, were they to rupture along their entirelength, could generate large-magnitude earthquakes. The interaction of the thrust beltwith the Beata ridge yieldsa huge recess and the imbricate system disappears. The upper slope of the Muertos margin shows hick slopedepositswhere the extensional tectonics and slumping processes predominate. The northern Beata ridge consistsof an asymmetrically uplifted and faulted block of oceanic crust. Our results suggest that the shallower structureand morphology of the northern Beata ridge can be mainly explained by a mechanism of extensional unloadingfrom the Upper Cretaceous onward that is still active residually along the summit of the ridge. L'article revisa el concepte de transició des d'una perspectiva múltiple i sintetitza diferents investigacions fetes aquesta última dècada per l'equip Transicions Acadèmiques i Laborals (TRALS). Unes, centrades en transicions convencionals i d’altres en problemes no tan convencionals. L'anàlisi, molt succinta, de les investigacions més significatives exposa els objectius, la metodologia, les característiques i les fonts de cada treball. Les repercussions de diferents investigacions en la política educativa global de l'evitació del abandonisme escolar i acadèmic, es veuen complementades amb una sèrie de suggeriments per la intervenció psicopedagógica, amb l’objectiu d’orientar a persones en transició seguint models didàctics i psicològics d'autors clàssics en el tema.The research focused on the problems of transition has motivated the authors of this essay to share with national and international colleagues their findings and innovations. The article reviews the concept of transition from a multiple perspective and synthesizes various works done over the last decade by the team TRALS. The team centered on some conventional transitions and on other problems not so conventional. The analysis, very succinct, of the most significant research, presents the objectives, methodology, characteristics and sources of each job. The impact of various investigations in educational policy for school avoidance and academic drop out are complemented by a series of suggestions for pedagogic intervention to guide people in transition. The suggestions are adapted from educational and psychological models of classical authors on the subject.La investigación centrada en los problemas de la transición ha motivado a los autores de este ensayo a compartir con sus colegas nacionales e internacionales sus hallazgos y sus innovaciones.     Reasons for Course Selection and Academic Satisfaction among Master's Degree Students

    This study investigated the relationships between the motivations of master's students and satisfaction with the programme. Participants included 978 students from two Spanish universities. The results showed that the characteristics of the master's programme explained the differences in the reasons for choice and student satisfaction. We found a positive relationship between academic satisfaction and the reasons for self-realization and personal growth. The results allow us to reconsider the process of student guidance and counselling

    ABSTRACTThe discourse of employability is the central axis of the new training model of higher education in which the skills of career management are considered constituent part. This study is part of a broader research, on employability and career management of graduates in Pedagogy. The article presents the results of a qualitative study whose main objective is to deepen the knowledge of the paths and career management processes of professionals in pedagogy, as well as their fields of action. 26 semi-structured interviews have been conducted with professionals in the field of pedagogy, in relation to their experiences at the time of moving into the labour market and to their later career paths. The results show the relevance of the skills of career management in its construction and professional path. In conclusion, we reflect on the importance of including in university training the work from models of career management to contribute to employability.RESUMENEl discurso de empleabilidad es el eje del nuevo modelo formativo de la educación superior, en que las competencias de gestión de la carrera se consideran parte constitutiva. Este estudio forma parte de una investigación, más amplia, sobre la inserción profesional y la gestión de la carrera de los graduados en Pedagogía. El artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio cualitativo cuyo objetivo principal es profundizar en el conocimiento de las trayectorias del profesional de la pedagogía, así como en sus ámbitos de actuación, con la finalidad de identificar los elementos que participan en la gestión de la carrera para el desarrollo de la empleabilidad. Se han realizado 26 entrevistas semiestructuradas, a profesionales del campo de la pedagogía, en relación a sus experiencias en el momento de transitar al mercado de trabajo y a su trayectoria profesional posterior. Los resultados muestran la relevancia de las competencias de gestión de la carrera en la construcción y en la trayectoria profesional.     Se estandarizó un método por cromatografía líquida de alta eficiencia, HPLC, para determinar simultáneamente la concentración de las flavanonas: naringina, hesperidina, naringenina y hesperetina, en los jugos de las variedades más representativas de mandarina, naranja, toronja, limón y lima, cultivadas en Santander. Las mayores concentraciones de naringina, hesperidina y naringenina, se encuentran en los jugos de toronja, mandarina y lima, respectivamente, y en ninguno de los jugos se detecta la hesperetina

    Crustal structure and continent‐ocean boundary along the Galicia continental margin (NW Iberia): insights from combined gravity and seismic interpretation

    The magma‐poor rifted continental margin of Galicia has an extremely complex structure. Its formation involved several rifting episodes that occurred ultimately during the early Cretaceous near a ridge triple junction, which produced a change in the orientation of the main structures in its transition to the north Iberia margin. In addition, there is a superimposed partial tectonic inversion along its northwest and northern border which developed from the Late Cretaceous to at least Oligocene times. The present study integrates a large volume of new geophysical information (mainly marine gravity data and 2D seismic reflection profiles) to provide insights on the formation of this rift system and on the development of its later inversion. The combined interpretation and modeling of this data enable the presentation of a new crustal and structural domains map for the whole Galicia margin. This includes the rift domains related to the extreme thinning of the crust and the lithospheric mantle (stretched, necking, and hyperextension and mantle exhumation (HME) domains), as well as a domain of intense compressional deformation. New constraints arise on the origin, the deep structure, and the characterization of the along‐ and across‐strike variation of the continent‐ocean transition of the margin, where a progressive change from hyperextension to partial inversion is observed. The development of both rifting and later partial tectonic inversion is influenced by the existence of former first‐order tectonic features. Most of the tectonic inversion is focused on the HME domain, which in some areas of the northwestern margin is completely overprinted by compressional deformation
