A several-year investigation of distribution, phytocoenological differentiation, floristic composition and structure of the ruderal flora and vegetation, and relative anthropogenic influences was conducted in the area of Pančevački rit. The study focused on the ruderal community Arctio-Artemisetum vulgaris, the most widespread of 10 ruderal communities identified in a detailed phytocoenological analysis of the location of Pančevački rit.

Recovery of Vanadium (V) Oxyanions by a Magnetic Macroporous Copolymer Nanocomposite Sorbent

An amino-functionalized magnetic macroporous copolymer of glycidyl methacrylate (GM) and ethylene glycol (E) dimethacrylate (m-poly(GME)-deta) was synthesized, fully characterized, and used to investigate the adsorption of vanadium (V) oxyanions from aqueous solutions (Ci = 0.5 mM) in a batch system at room temperature (298 K). Pseudo-first-order (PFO), pseudo-second-order (PSO), Elovich, and intra-particle diffusion (IPD) models were used to analyze the kinetic data. The study showed that sorption is rapid, i.e., the sorption half-time is approximately one minute. Initially, the sorption process primarily involved surface sorbent particles, and it was best described by the PSO model. However, after saturation of the surface active sites is attained, the sorption rate decreases significantly because of limitations of the diffusion rate, which is then primarily controlled by the IPD process. The sorption process is favorable in the pH range of 3-6 due to the strong electrostatic interactions between the absorption centers of copolymer and vanadium (V) oxyanions. In the stated pH range, deta absorption centers with two and three protonated N atoms are in equilibrium as studied by quantum chemical modeling. Among V(V) species present in diluted aqueous media, the adsorption of H2VO4- ions dominates

U ovom radu je istraživan uticaj sirovinskog sastava i načina obrade tkanina vodenim ekstraktom biljaka Allium cepa L. i Juglans regia L. na stepen obojenja i antibakterijska svojstva. Za istraživanja su korištene dvije tkanine različitih sirovinskih sastava (100 % pamuk i 50% pamuk/50% poliester), istih konstrukcionih karakteristika i približno iste površinske mase. Bojenje tkanina ekstraktima biljaka rađeno je na dva načina koristeći metodu iscrpljenja kupatila, uz dodatak različitih močila (CH3COOH i KNaC4H4O6 · 4H2O). Antibakterijska svojstva tkanina obrađenih navedenim vodenim ekstrakatima su testirana na bakterije Escherichia coli i Staphylococcus aureus koristeći metodu paralelnih linija (AATCC TM 147). Primjenjeni ekstrakti biljaka mogli bi naći primjenu u proizvodnji malih serija unikatnih ekološki prihvatljivih proizvoda. U isto vrijeme ovako oplemenjene tkanine pokazuju određena antimikrobna svojstva. Sa ekološke tačke gledišta ekstrakti biljaka, kao prirodni proizvodi, predstavljaju pogodnu zamjenu za hemijske boje

GnRHR signaling in neuronal cells: in vitro and in vivo data

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is a hypothalamic decapeptide that controls mammalian reproduction by acting on its receptor (GnRHR) expressed on pituitary gonadotrope cells. While GnRHR signaling in gonadotropes is well described, knowledge of GnRHR activation-related events at extrapituitary sites including neurons is limited. It was proposed that GnRH analogs (GnRHa) induce distinct changes in hippocampal gene expression, emotional processes, and cognitive functions. To explore neuronal GnRHR signaling we used the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y. Further, we explored the regional expression of Gnrhr in rat brain and investigated the expression of several relevant genes in the hippocampus and preoptic area of peripubertal male rats treated with GnRHa. GNRHR is expressed in SH-SY5Y cell line, but its expression does not change after adding GnRHa in the incubation media. Electrophysiological recordings confirmed that GnRHa induced membrane depolarization but could not evoke action potentials. In the rat brain, Gnrhr expression could be detected in the hippocampus, amygdala, and hypothalamus, including the preoptic area. Prolonged treatment of peripubertal rats with GnRHa had no effect on the expression of genes in the hippocampus previously shown to be affected in the sheep model of delayed puberty. These results imply that neuronal GnRHR is either differently coupled (not coupled with Gq/11 protein), or that its membrane density is too low to induce transcriptional events. More investigation is needed to elucidate the role(s) of GnRH-GnRHR signaling in the brain.kategorija M6
