    Scalar-Kinetic Branes

This work tries to find out thick brane solutions in braneworld scenarios described by a real scalar field in the presence of a scalar-kinetic term F(X,ϕ)=XϕmF(X,\phi)=X\phi^m with a single extra dimension, where X=12MϕMϕX=\frac12\nabla_M\phi\nabla^M\phi stands for the standard kinetic term and m=0,1,2m=0,1,2\cdots. We mainly consider bent branes, namely de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter four-dimensional slices. The solutions of a flat brane are obtained when taking the four-dimensional cosmological constant Λ40\Lambda_4\rightarrow 0. When the parameter m=0m=0, these solutions turn to those of the standard scenario. The localization and spectrum of graviton on these branes are also analyzed.Comment: 10 pages, no figures, accepted by EP

Dual Spaces of Resonance In Thick pp-Branes

In this work we consider qq-form fields in a pp-brane embedded in a D=(p+2)D=(p+2) space-time. The membrane is generated by a domain wall in a Randall-Sundrum-like scenario. We study conditions for localization of zero modes of these fields. The expression agrees and generalizes the one found for the zero, one, two and three-forms in a 33-brane. By a generalization we mean that our expression is valid for any form in an arbitrary dimension with codimension one. We also point out that, even without the dilaton coupling, some form fields are localized in the membrane. The massive modes are considered and the resonances are calculated using a numerical method. We find that different spaces have identical resonance structures, which we call dual spaces of resonances(DSR).Comment: 15 page

    Observation of Y(2175) in J/ψηϕf0(980)J/\psi\to \eta\phi f_0(980)

The decays of J/ψηϕf0(980)(ηγγ,ϕK+K,f0(980)π+π)J/\psi\to \eta\phi f_0(980) (\eta\to \gamma\gamma, \phi \to K^+K^-, f_0(980)\to\pi^+\pi^-) are analyzed using a sample of 5.8×1075.8 \times 10^{7} J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESII detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC). A structure at around 2.182.18 GeV/c2c^2 with about 5σ5\sigma significance is observed in the ϕf0(980)\phi f_0(980) invariant mass spectrum. A fit with a Breit-Wigner function gives the peak mass and width of m=2.186±0.010(stat)±0.006(syst)m=2.186\pm 0.010 (stat)\pm 0.006 (syst) GeV/c2c^2 and Γ=0.065±0.023(stat)±0.017(syst)\Gamma=0.065\pm 0.023 (stat)\pm 0.017 (syst) GeV/c2c^2, respectively, that are consistent with those of Y(2175), observed by the BABAR collaboration in the initial-state radiation (ISR) process e+eγISRϕf0(980)e^+e^-\to\gamma_{ISR}\phi f_0(980). The production branching ratio is determined to be Br(J/ψηY(2175))Br(Y(2175)ϕf0(980))Br(f0(980)π+π)=(3.23±0.75(stat)±0.73(syst))×104Br(J/\psi\to\eta Y(2175))\cdot Br(Y(2175)\to\phi f_0(980))\cdot Br(f_0(980)\to\pi^+\pi^-)=(3.23\pm 0.75 (stat)\pm0.73 (syst))\times 10^{-4}, assuming that the Y(2175) is a 11^{--} state.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted by Phys. We report measurents of the continuum RudsR_{\rm uds} near the center-of-mass energy of 3.70 GeV, the Ruds(c)+ψ(3770)(s)R_{{\rm uds(c)}+\psi(3770)}(s) and the Rhad(s)R_{\rm had}(s) values in e+ee^+e^- annihilation at 68 energy points in the energy region between 3.650 and 3.872 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC Collodier. We obtain the RudsR_{\rm uds} for the continuum light hadron (containing u, d and s quarks) production near the DDˉD\bar D threshold to be Ruds=2.141±0.025±0.085R_{\rm uds}=2.141 \pm 0.025 \pm 0.085.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

    Study of J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n}

    Get PDF
The decays J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n} have been investigated with a sample of 225.2 million J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e+ee^+e^- collider. The branching fractions are determined to be B(J/ψppˉ)=(2.112±0.004±0.031)×103\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to p\bar{p})=(2.112\pm0.004\pm0.031)\times10^{-3} and B(J/ψnnˉ)=(2.07±0.01±0.17)×103\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to n\bar{n})=(2.07\pm0.01\pm0.17)\times10^{-3}. Distributions of the angle θ\theta between the proton or anti-neutron and the beam direction are well described by the form 1+αcos2θ1+\alpha\cos^2\theta, and we find α=0.595±0.012±0.015\alpha=0.595\pm0.012\pm0.015 for J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and α=0.50±0.04±0.21\alpha=0.50\pm0.04\pm0.21 for J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n}. Our branching-fraction results suggest a large phase angle between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes describing the J/ψNNˉJ/\psi\to N\bar{N} decay.Comment: 16 pages, 13 figures, the 2nd version, submitted to PR

First observation of the M1 transition ψ(3686)γηc(2S)\psi(3686)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S)

    Get PDF
Using a sample of 106 million \psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we have made the first measurement of the M1 transition between the radially excited charmonium S-wave spin-triplet and the radially excited S-wave spin-singlet states: \psi(3686)\to\gamma\eta_c(2S). Analyses of the processes \psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S) with \eta_c(2S)\to \K_S^0 K\pi and K^+K^-\pi^0 gave an \eta_c(2S) signal with a statistical significance of greater than 10 standard deviations under a wide range of assumptions about the signal and background properties. The data are used to obtain measurements of the \eta_c(2S) mass (M(\eta_c(2S))=3637.6\pm 2.9_\mathrm{stat}\pm 1.6_\mathrm{sys} MeV/c^2), width (\Gamma(\eta_c(2S))=16.9\pm 6.4_\mathrm{stat}\pm 4.8_\mathrm{sys} MeV), and the product branching fraction (\BR(\psi(3686)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S))\times \BR(\eta_c(2S)\to K\bar K\pi) = (1.30\pm 0.20_\mathrm{stat}\pm 0.30_\mathrm{sys})\times 10^{-5}). Combining our result with a BaBar measurement of \BR(\eta_c(2S)\to K\bar K \pi), we find the branching fraction of the M1 transition to be \BR(\psi(3686)\to\gamma\eta_c(2S)) = (6.8\pm 1.1_\mathrm{stat}\pm 4.5_\mathrm{sys})\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, 1 tabl

Precision measurement of the branching fractions of J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 and psi' -> pi+pi-pi0

    Get PDF
We study the decays of the J/psi and psi' mesons to pi+pi-pi0 using data samples at both resonances collected with the BES III detector in 2009. We measure the corresponding branching fractions with unprecedented precision and provide mass spectra and Dalitz plots. The branching fraction for J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 is determined to be (2.137 +- 0.004 (stat.) +0.058-0.056 (syst.) +0.027-0.026 (norm.))*10-2, and the branching fraction for psi' -> pi+pi-pi0 is measured as (2.14 +- 0.03 (stat.) +0.08-0.07 (syst.) +0.09-0.08 (norm.))*10-4. The J/psi decay is found to be dominated by an intermediate rho(770) state, whereas the psi' decay is dominated by di-pion masses around 2.2 GeV/c2, leading to strikingly different Dalitz distributions.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure

Observation of χc1\chi_{c1} decays into vector meson pairs ϕϕ\phi\phi, ωω\omega\omega, and ωϕ\omega\phi

    Get PDF
Decays of χc1\chi_{c1} to vector meson pairs ϕϕ\phi\phi, ωω\omega\omega and ωϕ\omega\phi are observed for the first time using (106±4)×106(106\pm4)\times 10^6 \psip events accumulated at the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e+ee^+e^- collider. The branching fractions are measured to be (4.4±0.3±0.5)×104(4.4\pm 0.3\pm 0.5)\times 10^{-4}, (6.0±0.3±0.7)×104(6.0\pm 0.3\pm 0.7)\times 10^{-4}, and (2.2±0.6±0.2)×105(2.2\pm 0.6\pm 0.2)\times 10^{-5}, for χc1ϕϕ\chi_{c1}\to \phi\phi, ωω\omega\omega, and ωϕ\omega\phi, respectively. The observation of χc1\chi_{c1} decays into a pair of vector mesons ϕϕ\phi\phi, ωω\omega\omega and ωϕ\omega\phi indicates that the hadron helicity selection rule is significantly violated in χcJ\chi_{cJ} decays. In addition, the measurement of χcJωϕ\chi_{cJ}\to \omega\phi gives the rate of doubly OZI-suppressed decay. Branching fractions for χc0\chi_{c0} and χc2\chi_{c2} decays into other vector meson pairs are also measured with improved precision.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

    Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure in e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at s=4.26\sqrt{s}=4.26GeV

We study the process e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at a center-of-mass energy of 4.26GeV using a 827pb1^{-1} data sample obtained with the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, the Born cross section is measured to be (137±9±15)(137\pm9\pm15)pb. We observe a structure near the (DDˉ)±(D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} threshold in the π\pi^\mp recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as the Zc±(4025)Z^{\pm}_c(4025). The measured mass and width of the structure are (4026.3±2.6±3.7)(4026.3\pm2.6\pm3.7)MeV/c2^2 and (24.8±5.6±7.7)(24.8\pm5.6\pm7.7)MeV, respectively. Its production ratio σ(e+eZc±(4025)π(DDˉ)±π)σ(e+e(DDˉ)±π)\frac{\sigma(e^+e^-\to Z^{\pm}_c(4025)\pi^\mp \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)}{\sigma(e^+e^-\to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)} is determined to be 0.65±0.09±0.060.65\pm0.09\pm0.06. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 1 table; version accepted to be published in PR
