Adults of multi-colored lady beetle, Leis axyridis were starved for 24- hour, and allowed to prey on soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura, and corn leaf aphid, Rhopalosiphum maidis(Fitch) which were at various densities. By comparing and analyzing its predatory potential, we consider that both L. axyridis’ preying on A. glycines and on R. maidis were fitted with type II response, which can be simulated by Holling disc equation, and expressed as: Na 0.6792N/ (1 0.0022N) corn ? ? and Na 0.9463N/ (1 0.0023N) soybean ? ? , respectively. In addition, by comparing its functional parameters, we found that L. axyridis’ ability to control A. glycines is significantly stronger than that of R. maidis.Originating text in Chinese.Citation: Lin, Zhiwei, Wang, Liyan, Sun, Qiang, Nan, Shan. Coherent Compensation based ISAC Signal Processing for Long-range Sensing

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) will greatly enhance the efficiency of physical resource utilization. The design of ISAC signal based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) signal is the mainstream. However, when detecting the long-range target, the delay of echo signal exceeds CP duration, which will result in inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI), limiting the sensing range. Facing the above problem, we propose to increase useful signal power through coherent compensation and improve the signal to interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) of each OFDM block. Compared with the traditional 2D-FFT algorithm, the improvement of SINR of range-doppler map (RDM) is verified by simulation, which will expand the sensing range

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Backgroud</p> <p>Recently, mast cells have been recognized to express several Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on their membrane surfaces, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) was reported to be able to alter expression of TLRs and cytokine production in neutrophils. However, whether GM-CSF modulates the expression of TLR and cytokine production in mast cells is not clear.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Using flow cytometry and real time PCR techniques, we found that GM-CSF upregulated expression of TLR3 and TLR7 in P815 cells in a concentration dependent manner. GM-CSF also provoked approximately up to 2.4 and 2.3 fold increase in IL-13 and IL-6 release from P815 cells, respectively following 16 h incubation. GM-CSF induced IL-13 secretion, TLR3 and TLR7 expression appeared to be through activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and phosphotidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathways, whereas GM-CSF elicited IL-6 release seemed via Akt signaling pathway. At 10 ng/ml, GM-CSF significantly enhanced R-848-induced IL-6 release from P815 cells.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The ability of GM-CSF in modulation of expression of TLR3 and TLR7 in P815 mast cells and in stimulation of IL-13 and IL-6 release from P815 mast cells in vitro suggests that GM-CSF might play an important role in enhancing the innate immune responses of mast cell to viral infection</p

Dearth of information regarding the trend and correlates of HIV, syphilis and Hepatitis C (HCV) in a country-wide sample of understudied though high-risk Chinese men who have sex with men (MSM) called for a comprehensive serial cross-sectional study. Using a multistage mixed-method strategy, 171,311 MSM from 107 selected cities/counties in 30 provinces of mainland China, were interviewed and tested. Descriptive, bivariate, multivariate and Cochran-Armitage trend analyses were conducted using SAS 9.2. During 2009-13, recent (71.5% to 78.6%, p < 0.001) and consistent (40.4% to 48.8%, p < 0.001) condom use as well as condom use during commercial anal sex (46.5% to 55.0%, p < 0.001) were increasing. In contrast, commercial anal sex with male (11.9% to 7.1%, p < 0.001) and drug use (1.9% to 0.8%, p < 0.001) were decreasing over time. HIV prevalence increased gradually (5.5% to 7.3%, p < 0.001), while syphilis (9.0% to 6.3%, p < 0.001) and HCV prevalence (1.5% to 0.7%, p < 0.001) decreased over time. A positive correlation was observed between HIV and syphilis prevalence (r = 0.38). HIV infection was associated with HIV-related knowledge, services and injecting drug use. An increasing trend of HIV prevalence was observed during 2009–13 among MSM in China. While gradual reduction of risk behaviors along with syphilis and HCV prevalence supported expansion of testing and prevention services, increasing HIV burden called for deeper thematic investigations

Polarization-based probabilistic discriminative model for quantitative characterization of cancer cells

    Get PDF
We propose a polarization-based probabilistic discriminative model for deriving a set of new sigmoid-transformed polarimetry feature parameters, which not only enables accurate and quantitative characterization of cancer cells at pixel level, but also accomplish the task with a simple and stable model. By taking advantages of polarization imaging techniques, these parameters enable a low-magnification and wide-field imaging system to separate the types of cells into more specific categories that previously were distinctive under high magnification. Instead of blindly choosing the model, the L0 regularization method is used to obtain the simplified and stable polarimetry feature parameter. We demonstrate the model viability by using the pathological tissues of breast cancer and liver cancer, in each of which there are two derived parameters that can characterize the cells and cancer cells respectively with satisfactory accuracy and sensitivity. The stability of the final model opens the possibility for physical interpretation and analysis. This technique may bypass the typically labor-intensive and subjective tumor evaluating system, and could be used as a blueprint for an objective and automated procedure for cancer cell screening

Research on Techniques of Multifeatures Extraction for Tongue Image and Its Application in Retrieval

Tongue diagnosis is one of the important methods in the Chinese traditional medicine. Doctors can judge the disease’s situation by observing patient’s tongue color and texture. This paper presents a novel approach to extract color and texture features of tongue images. First, we use improved GLA (Generalized Lloyd Algorithm) to extract the main color of tongue image. Considering that the color feature cannot fully express tongue image information, the paper analyzes tongue edge’s texture features and proposes an algorithm to extract them. Then, we integrate the two features in retrieval by different weight. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the detection rate of lesion in tongue image relative to single feature retrieval

A fish scale-derived cornea substitute (Biocornea) is proposed as an alternative for human donor corneal tissue. We adopt a regenerative medicine approach to design a primary alternative to the use of fish scale for restoring sight by corneal replacement. Biocornea with corneal multilayer arrangement collagen was implanted to rabbits by pocket implantation. Our study demonstrated the safety and detailed morphologic and physiologic results from the 6 months of followup of rabbit model. In the peripheral Biocornea, the collagen fibrils were arranged in reticular fashion. Slit lamp examination showed that haze and an ulcer were not observed in all groups at 3 months postoperatively while all corneas with Biocornea were clear at both 3 months and 6 months postoperatively. The interface of Biocornea and stromal tissue were filled successfully and without observable immune cells at postoperative day 180. Moreover, the Biocornea was not dissolved and degenerated but remained transparent and showed no apparent fragmentation. Our study demonstrated that the Biocornea derived from fish scale as a good substitute had high biocompatibility and support function after a long-term evaluation. This revealed that the new approach of using Biocornea may yield an ideal artificial cornea substitute for long-term inlay placement
