MinK residues line a potassium channel pore.
MinK has neither the P region nor signature sequence that characterizes pore-forming subunits of all known K+ channels. A specific minK region has now been identified that affects external blockade by 2 common probes of K+ channel pores. When mutated to cysteine, residues in this region render minK susceptible to covalent blockade by methanethiosulfonate ethylsulfonate and alter reversible inhibition by tetraethylammonium. The 2 blockers are found to share overlapping binding site determinants and to interact. Since inhibition by external tetraethylammonium is sensitive to voltage and to the internal concentration of permeant ions, we argue that tetraethylammonium blocks by occluding the external end of a water-filled transmembrane pore. These findings support the view that minK is directly involved in forming a K+-selective ion conduction pathway

Este trabajo trata sobre "Aventuras de Gil Blas de Santillana", escrita en francés por Alain René Lesage, y su “recuperación”, en una traducción al español, de José Francisco de Isla. Se plantea un problema bibliográfico y se debate la posible existencia de una impresión doble de la segunda edición de la traducción de Isla, impresa en Valencia por Benito Monfort.This paper deals with the “Aventuras de Gil Blas de Santillana”, written in French by Alain René Lesage, and «retrieved», in a Spanish translation, by José Francisco Isla. Refrain from Standards? French, Cavemen and Computers. A (short) Story of Multidimensional Analysis in French Prehistoric Archaeology
Focusing on the history of prehistoric archaeology in the 20th century, this papers shows (1) that statistical multidimensional analyses were carried out by a new kind of actors who challenged the previous common language shared by prehistorians. This fundamental change was important, considering that (2) language is a fundamental point for the epistemology of archaeology. However, a comparison of multidimensional analyses applications over time shall make clear that (3) the differences are mostly a generational matter: the transmission processes between them will be addressed
Incorporating Transportation Network Structure in Spatial Econometric Models of Commodity Flows
We introduce a regression-based gravity model for commodity flows between 35 regions in Austria. We incorporate information regarding the highway network into the spatial connectivity structure of the spatial autoregressive econometric model. We find that our approach produces improved model fit and higher likelihood values. The model accounts for spatial dependence in the origin-destination flows by introducing a spatial connectivity matrix that allows for three types of spatial dependence in the origins to destinations flows. We modify this origin-destination connectivity structure that was introduced by LeSage and Pace (2005) to include information regarding the presence or absence of a major highway/train corridor that passes through the regions. Empirical estimates indicate that the strongest spatial autoregressive effects arise when both origin and destination regions have neighboring regions located on the highway network. Different goals in multiscale simulations and how to reach them
In this paper we sum up our works on multiscale programs, mainly simulations.
We first start with describing what multiscaling is about, how it helps
perceiving signal from a background noise in a ?ow of data for example, for a
direct perception by a user or for a further use by another program. We then
give three examples of multiscale techniques we used in the past, maintaining a
summary, using an environmental marker introducing an history in the data and
finally using a knowledge on the behavior of the different scales to really
handle them at the same time
