Decoupling of heavy quarks in HQET
Decoupling of c-quark loops in b-quark HQET is considered. The decoupling
coefficients for the HQET heavy-quark field and the heavy-light quark current
are calculated with the three-loop accuracy. The last result can be used to
improve the accuracy of extracting f_B from HQET lattice simulations (without
c-quark loops). The decoupling coefficient for the flavour-nonsinglet QCD
current with n antisymmetrized gamma-matrices is also obtained at three loops;
the result for the tensor current (n=2) is new.Comment: JHEP3 documentclass; the results in a computer-readable form can be

Asymptotics of the perturbative series for f_{B^*}/f_B
We investigate the structure of the leading IR renormalon singularity in the
QCD/HQET matching coefficients for heavy-light quark currents beyond the
large-\beta_0 limit. From this result, we derive the large-order behaviour of
the perturbative series for these coefficients, and for ratios of meson matrix
elements, such as f_{B^*}/f_B.Comment: 45 pages, 2 eps figures. v2: small corrections, reference added. v3:

Matching QCD and HQET heavy-light currents at three loops
We consider the currents formed by a heavy and a light quark within Quantum
Chromodynamics and compute the matching to Heavy Quark Effective Theory to
three-loop accuracy. As an application we obtain the third-order perturbative
corrections to ratios of B-meson decay constants.Comment: 23 pages, full results are available as Mathematica files at

Two-loop Anomalous Dimensions of Heavy Baryon Currents in Heavy Quark Effective Theory
We present results on the two-loop anomalous dimensions of the heavy baryon
HQET currents with arbitrary Dirac matrices
and . From our general result we obtain the two-loop
anomalous dimensions for currents with quantum numbers of the ground state
heavy baryons , and . As a by-product of our
calculation and as an additional check we rederive the known two-loop anomalous
dimensions of mesonic scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial vector and tensor
currents in massless QCD as well as in HQET.Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX, 2 figures are included in PostScript forma
Measurement of the Ds lifetime
We report precise measurement of the Ds meson lifetime. The data were taken
by the SELEX experiment (E781) spectrometer using 600 GeV/c Sigma-, pi- and p
beams. The measurement has been done using 918 reconstructed Ds. The lifetime
of the Ds is measured to be 472.5 +- 17.2 +- 6.6 fs, using K*(892)0K+- and phi
pi+- decay modes. The lifetime ratio of Ds to D0 is 1.145+-0.049.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures submitted to Phys. Lett.
Confirmation of the Double Charm Baryon Xi_cc+ via its Decay to p D+ K-
We observes a signal for the double charm baryon Xi_cc+ in the charged decay
mode Xi_cc+ -> p D+ K- to complement the previously reported decay Xi_cc+ ->
Lambda_c K- pi+ in data from SELEX, the charm hadro-production experiment
(E781) at Fermilab. In this new decay mode we observe an excess of 5.62 events
over an expected background estimated by event mixing to be 1.38+/-0.13 events.
The Poisson probability that a background fluctuation can produce the apparent
signal is less than 6.4E-4. The observed mass of this state is
(3518+/-3)MeV/c^2, consistent with the published result. Averaging the two
results gives a mass of (3518.7+/-1.7)MeV/c^2. The observation of this new weak
decay mode confirms the previous SELEX suggestion that this state is a double
charm baryon. The relative branching ratio Gamma(Xi_cc+ -> pD+K-)/Gamma(Xi_cc+
-> Lambda_c K- pi+) = 0.36+/-0.21.Comment: 11 pages, 6 included eps figures. v2 includes improved statistical
method to determine significance of observation. Submitted to PL
Supersymmetric Regularization, Two-Loop QCD Amplitudes and Coupling Shifts
We present a definition of the four-dimensional helicity (FDH) regularization
scheme valid for two or more loops. This scheme was previously defined and
utilized at one loop. It amounts to a variation on the standard 't
Hooft-Veltman scheme and is designed to be compatible with the use of helicity
states for "observed" particles. It is similar to dimensional reduction in that
it maintains an equal number of bosonic and fermionic states, as required for
preserving supersymmetry. Supersymmetry Ward identities relate different
helicity amplitudes in supersymmetric theories. As a check that the FDH scheme
preserves supersymmetry, at least through two loops, we explicitly verify a
number of these identities for gluon-gluon scattering (gg to gg) in
supersymmetric QCD. These results also cross-check recent non-trivial two-loop
calculations in ordinary QCD. Finally, we compute the two-loop shift between
the FDH coupling and the standard MS-bar coupling, alpha_s. The FDH shift is
identical to the one for dimensional reduction. The two-loop coupling shifts
are then used to obtain the three-loop QCD beta function in the FDH and
dimensional reduction schemes.Comment: 44 pages, minor corrections and clarifications include
T-functions revisited: New criteria for bijectivity/transitivity
The paper presents new criteria for bijectivity/transitivity of T-functions
and fast knapsack-like algorithm of evaluation of a T-function. Our approach is
based on non-Archimedean ergodic theory: Both the criteria and algorithm use
van der Put series to represent 1-Lipschitz -adic functions and to study
measure-preservation/ergodicity of these
