Esquema de selección de sementales caprinos de aptitud lechera de raza murciano-granadina

    Get PDF

Genetic characterisation of the murciano-granadina goat with microsatellites

    Get PDF
It have been studied 92 animals of the Murciano-Granadina caprine breed with 22 microsatellites in order to get the genetic characterisation of this Spanish breed. Ovine and bovine microsatellites recommended by FAO, ISAG and other authors in the bibliography have been used. These markers were amplified by mean of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique and to get the size separation of the obtained fragments we have developed electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel in an automatic sequencer ABI377XL. In future studies the genetic relationships between this breed an others Spanish and Latin-American caprine breeds will be established. The paternity and maternity have been checked with these microsatellites and this has been used to make a paternity panel with 10-12 markers and an a priori exclusion probability higher than 99,9 percent. This panel is useful to check paternity in this emblematic caprine breed from the South of Spain.

Morphology of first seven larval stages of the striped soldier shrimp, Plesionika edwardsii (Brandt, 1851) (Crustacea: Decapoda: Pandalidae) from laboratory reared material

With the idea of starting a research program for the biological study of Plesionika edwardsii, eight ovigerous females were collected with artisanal bottom traps at 220 m depth in the Southwest of Gran Canaria island, north-western Africa (27º43.864´N 15º47.822´W), for laboratory larval cultures. The first seven zoeal stages of Plesionika edwardsii were obtained for 20 days after hatching at 23.4 ± 0.4ºC, 10ºC above adult habitat temperature. The zoeal stages are described and illustrated, constituting the first detailed larval description of the genus Plesionika. The larval morphology is compared with previous larval descriptions attributed to Plesionika spp. collected in plankton tows and with descriptions of the first stage of development of Plesionika acanthonotus reared in laboratory

The first five zoeal stages of Plesionika narval were obtained from 15 days of laboratory culture. All larval stages are described and illustrated in detail. Zoeal characters are compared with the previous described larvae of Plesionika acanthonotus and Plesionika edwardsii and with undetermined zoeas of Pandalidae from plankton samples

Performance assessment of existing models to predict brittle failure modes of steel-to-timber connections loaded parallel-to-grain with dowel-type fasteners

    Get PDF
For safety reasons, ductile failure in timber connections with dowel-type fasteners is always recommended. It has usually been assumed that it can be achieved by fulfilling minimum spacing requirements between fasteners. However, recent works address the need to account for brittle failure modes (namely splitting, row-shear, and block and plug-shear) in connections loaded parallel-to-the-grain in an explicit manner, in order to evaluate them and achieve the desired ductility. This article describes the brittle failure modes and reviews the existing calculation models proposed by several authors – some of them included in standards. Finally, the performance of these models is assessed against an extensive database of tests gathered from the literature following a comprehensive methodology

The baryon vertex with magnetic flux

In this letter we generalise the baryon vertex configuration of AdS/CFT by adding a suitable instantonic magnetic field on its worldvolume, dissolving D-string charge. A careful analysis of the configuration shows that there is an upper bound on the number of dissolved strings. This should be a manifestation of the stringy exclusion principle. We provide a microscopical description of this configuration in terms of a dielectric effect for the dissolved strings.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figures. V2: reference added. V3: version to appear in JHE

[EN] The Institute of Agricultural and Fishery Research and Training (IFAPA in Spanish) is working to improve the management of water use in the strawberry crop. The objective of this work is to propose a methodology for estimating strawberry crop water requirements, which was applicable under growing conditions in the province of Huelva, in Southern Spain. This paper reports a simple method for performing daily irrigation schedules for strawberry crop under greenhouse. The method is based on estimating crop evapotranspiration using estimations of greenhouse reference evapotranspiration (ETo green) and crop coefficients. The ETo green was estimated, using a model based on solar radiation inside the greenhouse, using the weekly meteorological forecast provided by the Spanish Meteorology Agency (AEMET in Spanish). Gavilán, P.; Bohórquez, J.; Ruiz, J.; Lozano, D. Heavy quark symmetry constraints on semileptonic form factors and decay widths of doubly heavy baryons

    Get PDF
We show how heavy quark symmetry constraints on doubly heavy baryon semileptonic decay widths can be used to test the validity of different quark model calculations. The large discrepancies in the results observed between different quark model approaches can be understood in terms of a severe violation of heavy quark spin symmetry constraints by some of those models.Comment: 10 LaTex pages, 3 figures, 6 tables.
