    Get PDF

    On real-time partitioned multicore systems

    Get PDF
Partitioning is a common approach to developing mixed-criticality systems, where partitions are isolated from each other both in the temporal and the spatial domain in order to prevent low-criticality subsystems from compromising other subsystems with high level of criticality in case of misbehaviour. The advent of many-core processors, on the other hand, opens the way to highly parallel systems in which all partitions can be allocated to dedicated processor cores. This trend will simplify processor scheduling, although other issues such as mutual interference in the temporal domain may arise as a consequence of memory and device sharing. The paper describes an architecture for multi-core partitioned systems including critical subsystems built with the Ada Ravenscar profile. Some implementation issues are discussed, and experience on implementing the ORK kernel on the XtratuM partitioning hypervisor is presented

Memory isolation in many-core embedded systems

The current approach to developing mixed-criticality sys- tems is by partitioning the hardware resources (processors, memory and I/O devices) among the different applications. Partitions are isolated from each other both in the temporal and the spatial domain, so that low-criticality applications cannot compromise other applications with a higher level of criticality in case of misbehaviour. New architectures based on many-core processors open the way to highly parallel systems in which each partition can be allocated to a set of dedicated proces- sor cores, thus simplifying partition scheduling and temporal separation. Moreover, spatial isolation can also benefit from many-core architectures, by using simpler hardware mechanisms to protect the address spaces of different applications. This paper describes an architecture for many- core embedded partitioned systems, together with some implementation advice for spatial isolation

Materials and Methods: It is an analytical, observational, longitudinal, retrospective cohort study. The clinical records of patients with a diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus treated between 2013-2017 at the Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital were reviewed. The sample consisted of 82 patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, of whom 41 received treatment with cyclophosphamide; and 41, with mycophenolate. For the statistical analysis; the Pearson Chi Square test was used, for the qualitative variables; and the Student's T test, for the qualitative variables; the statistic used was the Relative Risk (RR), with its respective 95% confidence interval. Results: It was confirmed that of the 41 patients treated with cyclophosphamide, 58.5% presented infections and 41.5% did not present infections; While of the 41 patients treated with mycophenolate, 31.7% presented infections and 68.3% did not present infections, this difference was statistically significant (p <0.05) with RR: 1.85; 95% CI: 1.07-3.18 Conclusions: Patients treated with cyclophosphamide have a greater predisposition to infections than patients treated with mycophenolate.Tesi

    Smooth Non-Abelian Bosonization

    Get PDF
We present an extension of ``smooth bosonization'' to the non-Abelian case. We construct an enlarged theory containing both bosonic and fermionic fields which exhibits a local chiral gauge symmetry. A gauge fixing function depending on one real parameter allows us to interpolate smoothly between a purely fermionic and a purely bosonic representation. The procedure is, in the special case of bosonization, complementary to the approach based on duality.Comment: LaTeX, 13 pages, CERN--TH-7347/9

Application of Deadlock Risk Evaluation of Architectural Models

Software architectural evaluation is a key discipline used to identify, at early stages of a real-time system (RTS) development, the problems that may arise during its operation. Typical mechanisms supporting concurrency, such as semaphores, mutexes or monitors, usually lead to concurrency problems in execution time that are difficult to be identified, reproduced and solved. For this reason, it is crucial to understand the root causes of these problems and to provide support to identify and mitigate them at early stages of the system lifecycle. This paper aims to present the results of a research work oriented to the development of the tool called ‘Deadlock Risk Evaluation of Architectural Models’ (DREAM) to assess deadlock risk in architectural models of an RTS. A particular architectural style, Pipelines of Processes in Object-Oriented Architectures–UML (PPOOA) was used to represent platform-independent models of an RTS architecture supported by the PPOOA –Visio tool. We validated the technique presented here by using several case studies related to RTS development and comparing our results with those from other deadlock detection approaches, supported by different tools. Here we present two of these case studies, one related to avionics and the other to planetary exploration robotics. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
