Magnetic Transformations in the Organic Conductor kappa-(BETS)2Mn[N(CN)2]3 at the Metal-Insulator Transition

A complex study of magnetic properties including dc magnetization, 1H NMR and magnetic torque measurements has been performed for the organic conductor kappa-(BETS)2Mn[N(CN)2]3 which undergoes a metal-insulator transition at T_MI~25K. NMR and the magnetization data indicate a transition in the manganese subsystem from paramagnetic to a frozen state at T_MI, which is, however, not a simple Neel type order. Further, a magnetic field induced transition resembling a spin flop has been detected in the torque measurements at temperatures below T_MI. This transition is most likely related to the spins of pi-electrons localized on the organic molecules BETS and coupled with the manganese 3d spins via exchange interaction.Comment: 6 pages, 5 Figures, 1 Table; Submitted to Phys.Rev.B (Nov.2010

CONCENTRATIONS OF IMMUNOREGULATORY PROTEINS AND SOME CYTOKINES IN BLOOD OF WOMEN DURING MENOPAUSAL THERAPY

It has been shown that the influence of hormonal and non-hormonal therapy of menopausal syndrome upon immune profile may be variable, and the results of appropriate studies may be often contradictory. The aim of this work was to investigate the influence of hormonal and non-hormonal therapy in menopausal syndrome upon serum levels of some immunoregulatory proteins, i.e., alpha2-macroglobulin (a2-MG), pregnancy-associated alpha 2-glycoprotein (PAG), contents of some related cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, TNFα, IFNγ, IL-2) as well as VEGF amounts. Administration of menopausal hormone treatment and nonhormonal therapy was associated with reduced IL-6 levels in serum, regardless of treatment duration, or type of drug applied. We have found a statistically significant decrease of IL-8 serum levels in the course of dynamic monitoring in the women taking a menopausal hormone preparation containing 1 mg of 17β-estradiol and 5 mg dydrogesterone, and a non-hormonal drug containing genistein (60 mg) for 3-6 months. The levels of VEGF demonstrated high individual variability during therapy of menopausal syndrome. Serum concentrations of immunoregulatory a2-MG were stable in climacteric syndrome, and did not differ from normal values. However, the content of PAG, a known immunosuppressive protein, was increased 3-4 times in serum of 33-50% of the women receiving menopausal hormonal therapy, regardless of progestogen dose (5 or 10 mg dydrogesterone), and duration of its use. These findings suggest a need for individualized drug selection in order to minimize a risk of immunodeficiency conditions in the patients receiving hormone therapy of menopausal syndrome

Особенности острофазного ответа при различных вариантах воспалительных процессов придатков матки

Concentrations of some acute phase proteins (alpha-1-antitrypsin or AT; alpha-2-macroglobulin or MG; pregnancy associated alpha-2-glycoprotein or PAG) and lactoferrin (Lf) were studied in blood serum of 82 women with various types of uterine append-ages inflammation. The data obtained have been compared with conventional and commonly used laboratory indices of inflammato-ry response such as fibrinogen (Fbg) and leukocyte intoxication index. Our findings confirmed significant role of macroglobulin family proteins in the development of acute phase inflammation. Associated tendencies in changes of acute phase proteins concen-trations in various types of uterine appendages inflammation have been identified and recommended to be employed in clinical prac-tice for making differential diagnosis and for selection of optimal therapeutic approach.Исследованы концентрации некоторых белков острой фазы воспаления: α-1-антитрипсин, α-2-макроглобулин, ассоциированный с беременностью α-2-гликопротеин, а также лактоферрин в сыворотке крови 82 женщин с различными вариантами воспалительных процессов придатков матки. Полученные данные сопоставлены с общепризнанными и широко применяемыми лабораторными показателями воспалительной реакции, такими как фибриноген и лейкоцитарный индекс интоксикации. Результаты исследования подтвердили существенную роль белков семейства макроглобулинов в развитии воспалительной реакции. Выявлены закономерности в изменениях концентраций белков острой фазы воспаления при различных вариантах воспалительных процессов придатков матки, которые целесообразно использовать в клинической практике для дифференциальной диагностики и выбора оптимальной тактики лечения

Screening for gastroesophageal reflux disease

The Purpose of research. To estimate a role of screening in revealing sick gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and training of these patients in «To School of patients GERD» at an dispensary-polyclinic stage by means of studying an estimation of quality of a life. Materials and methods. Tests for presence gastroesophageal reflux disease developed by professor V.A. Isakovym (MRSRI n. M.F.Vladimirsky) and an estimation of quality of a life (questionnaire SF-36 created J.E. Ware) have passed 180 patients who have addressed the dispensary-polyclinic help. By results of testing interrogated have been divided into 2 groups: 1-st with presence gastroesophageal reflux disease, 2-nd — without symptoms gastroesophageal a reflux. An estimation of quality of a life spent a method of summation of estimations Likerti on the basis of code conversion of intermediate values by means of the software distributed by company QMetric Inc (MOS SF-36. The Health Institute, New England Medical Center, Boston, USA). Retrospectivity electronic out-patient cards of all patients are studied, results esophagogastroduodenoscopy and contrast rentghenoskopy the top departments of a digestive path are analysed. Results. More than half of the patients who have addressed the dispensary-polyclinic help, had symptoms gastroesophageal reflux disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease proceeded under «Masks» other diseases, and their mutual influence led to a syndrome of mutual burdening. The conclusion. Screening of patients at an dispensary stage allows to reveal symptoms gastroesophageal a reflux, to define further tactics of inspection and treatment, and training of patients will allow to reduce clinical displays of this pathology and to warn complications.Цель исследования. Оценить роль скрининга в выявлении больных гастроэзофагеальной рефлюксной болезнью (ГЭРБ) и обучения этих пациентов в «Школе больных ГЭРБ» на амбулаторно-поликлиническом этапе с помощью изучения оценки качества жизни. Материалы и методы. Тесты на наличие гастроэзофагеальной рефлюксной болезни, разработанные профессором В.А. Исаковым (МОНИКИ им. М.Ф. Владимирского) и оценку качества жизни (опросник SF-36, созданный J.E. Ware) прошли 180 пациентов, обратившихся за амбулаторно-поликлинической помощью. По результатам тестирования опрошенные были разделены на 2 группы: 1-я с наличием гастроэзофагеальной рефлюксной болезни, 2-я — без симптомов гастро-эзофагеального рефлюкса. Оценку качества жизни проводили методом суммирования оценок Ликерта на основе перекодировки промежуточных значений с помощью программного обеспечения, распространяемого компанией QMetric Inc (MOS SF-36. Ретроспективно изучены электронные амбулаторные карты всех больных, проанализированы результаты ФГДС и контрастной рентгеноскопии верхних отделов пищеварительного тракта. Результаты. Более половины пациентов, обратившихся за амбулаторно-поликлинической помощью, имели симптомы гастроэзофагеальной рефлюксной болезни. Гастроэзофагеальная рефлюксная болезнь протекала под «масками» других заболеваний, а их взаимное влияние приводило к синдрому взаимного отягощения. Заключение. Скрининг пациентов на амбулаторном этапе позволяет выявить симптомы гастроэзофагеального рефлюкса, определить дальнейшую тактику обследования и лечения, а обучение больных позволит уменьшить клинические проявления этой патологии и предупредить осложнения

Paleocene-eeocene depositional environments and abiotic events on the southern and south-eastern Russian platform

The paper proposes a new event model of formation of Paleocene-Eocene sands and sandstones of the Southern and South- Eastern Russian Platform and their overlying Eocene bentonite clays. Sands have been considered as sand injectites, which outpouring and intrusion are due to tectonic activity of the Pachelma and Dnieper-Donets aulacogens and the Voronezh mass in the Paleocene-Eocene period. The outpouring of fluidized sand was complicated by the income of acid pyroclastic material to the basin. The influence of the latter explains the layers of camouflage pyroclastics in the sands of Buchakskaya formation. The transformed pyroclastic material is presented by the paragenesis of authigenic minerals - montmorillonite, zeolite, opal-CT, glauconite, and volcanic glass. It has been shown again that the montmorillonite clays of the Kievskaya formation are of volcano-sedimentary origin and were formed by diagenetic transformation of the metastable pyroclastic material. The formation of confluent sandstone is also associated with the diagenesis of overlying ash material, upon which free silica - a quartz grain cementing material - releases. Material composition of sands and sandstones of Buchakskaya formation and clays of Kievskaya formation has been studied with a range of analytical methods (petrographic, X-ray, chemical, and electron microscopy). Consideration of the sand strata under the new perspective requires a review of existing stratigraphic schemes, as a synchronous formation of rocks of both Buchakskaya and Kievskaya formations is very likely
