TeV scale mirage mediation in NMSSM
We study the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. We consider soft
supersymmetry breaking parameters, which are induced by the mirage mediation
mechanism of supersymmetry breaking. We concentrate on the mirage mediation,
where the so-called mirage scale is the TeV scale. In this scenario, we can
realize the up-type Higgs soft mass of O(200) GeV, while other masses such as
gaugino masses and stop masses are heavy such as 1 TeV or more. Cancellation
between the effective \mu-term and the down-type Higgs soft mass ameliorates
the fine-tuning in the electroweak symmetry breaking even for \mu=O(500) GeV.
The mixing between the doublet and singlet Higgs bosons is suppressed by
(\lambda/\kappa)/tan\beta. Then the lightest doublet Higgs mass naturally
reaches 125 GeV lifted by the new quartic coupling. The higgsino and singlino
are light and their linear combination is the lightest superparticle.Comment: 24 pages, 24 figures, Numerical analysis is replaced with the version
calculated by NMSSMTools. Comments and references are added on the suppressed
doublet-singlet mixing and cases in which the 125 GeV boson is the 2nd
lightest CP-even scalar. The version accepted by JHE
Interoperability framework for supporting information-based assistance in the factory
The aim of this paper is to propose new interoperability solution, based on Info-Engine framework and web services technology to support data exchange and extraction from PLM system, specially the Windchill tool. This solution will be implemented as a connector module of more generic framework, named Digital Factory Assistant (DFA). The DFA framework aims to provide factory workers by a set of knowledge and information based decision support to improve their activity performance
Nonequilibrium plasmons and transport properties of a double--junction quantum wire
We study theoretically the current-voltage characteristics, shot noise, and
full counting statistics of a quantum wire double barrier structure. We model
each wire segment by a spinless Luttinger liquid. Within the sequential
tunneling approach, we describe the system's dynamics using a master equation.
We show that at finite bias the non-equilibrium distribution of plasmons in the
central wire segment leads to increased average current, enhanced shot noise,
and full counting statistics corresponding to a super-Poissonian process. These
effects are particularly pronounced in the strong interaction regime, while in
the non-interacting case we recover results obtained earlier using detailed
balance arguments.Comment: 22 pages, RevTex 2-column, 11 figure
Charge and current fluctuations in a superconducting single electron transistor near a Cooper pair resonance
We analyze charge tunneling statistics and current noise in a superconducting
single-electron transistor in a regime where the Josephson-quasiparticle cycle
is the dominant mechanism of transport. Due to the interplay between Coulomb
blockade and Josephson coherence, the probability distribution for tunneling
events strongly deviates from a Poissonian and displays a pronounced even--odd
asymmetry in the number of transmitted charges. The interplay between charging
and coherence is reflected also in the zero-frequency current noise which is
significantly quenched when the quasi-particle tunneling rates are comparable
to the coherent Cooper-pair oscillation frequency. Furthermore the finite
frequency spectrum shows a strong enhancement near the resonant transition
frequency for Josephson tunneling.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure
New way to achieve chaotic synchronization in spatially extended systems
We study the spatio-temporal behavior of simple coupled map lattices with
periodic boundary conditions. The local dynamics is governed by two maps,
namely, the sine circle map and the logistic map respectively. It is found that
even though the spatial behavior is irregular for the regularly coupled
(nearest neighbor coupling) system, the spatially synchronized (chaotic
synchronization) as well as periodic solution may be obtained by the
introduction of three long range couplings at the cost of three nearest
neighbor couplings.Comment: 5 pages (revtex), 7 figures (eps, included
The cap-snatching SFTSV endonuclease domain is an antiviral target
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is a tick-borne virus with 12%-30% case mortality rates and is related to the Heartland virus (HRTV) identified in the United States. Together, SFTSV and HRTV are emerging segmented, negative-sense RNA viral (sNSV) pathogens with potential global health impact. Here, we characterize the amino-terminal cap-snatching endonuclease domain of SFTSV polymerase (L) and solve a 2.4-Å X-ray crystal structure. While the overall structure is similar to those of other cap-snatching sNSV endonucleases, differences near the C terminus of the SFTSV endonuclease suggest divergence in regulation. Influenza virus endonuclease inhibitors, including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Baloxavir (BXA), inhibit the endonuclease activity in in vitro enzymatic assays and in cell-based studies. BXA displays potent activity with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (I
Simulation-Based Safety Training for Plant Maintenance in Virtual Reality
This paper presents a 3-D simulation model for safety training in an interactive and fully immersive virtual environment (IVE). The training comprises application of serious games (SGs) designed for filter replacements on a gas-powered plant (GPP) engine model by participants based on plant maintenance health and safety environment (HSE) regulations. Although maintenance work on GPP constitutes significantly in the share of hazards in the industry, there is however, scanty research related to simulation-based training for safety. Research nonetheless indicates the success of this technology in other industrial fields. For this reason, this study explored the possibility for training in safe work practices during maintenance in a gamified virtual environment. The Unreal real-time 3D game engine software was employed for creating virtual objects in the simulation. In total, 38 participants individually undertook the training in the virtual realm and provided feedback on a 5-point Likert scale. Questions pursuant to the assessment included the efficacy of acquired safety knowledge and skills, proximity of the simulation-based training to reality, and the interests and preference of SGs-IVE towards safety training. Results demonstrates participant’s perception of the prospects and learning outcome of SGs-IVE towards safety training: A factor that promotes greater cognitive learning for mindful safety practices.© The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021. Complementarity of the CERN Large Hadron Collider and the International Linear Collider
The next-generation high-energy facilities, the CERN Large Hadron Collider
(LHC) and the prospective International Linear Collider (ILC), are
expected to unravel new structures of matter and forces from the electroweak
scale to the TeV scale. In this report we review the complementary role of LHC
and ILC in drawing a comprehensive and high-precision picture of the mechanism
breaking the electroweak symmetries and generating mass, and the unification of
forces in the frame of supersymmetry.Comment: 14 pages, 17 figures, to be published in "Supersymmetry on the Eve of

Anisotropy of the Upper Critical Field and Critical Current in Single Crystal MgB
We report on specific heat, high magnetic field transport and
susceptibility measurements on magnesium diboride single crystals. The
upper critical field for magnetic fields perpendicular and parallel to
the Mg and B planes is presented for the first time in the entire temperature
range. A very different temperature dependence has been observed in the two
directions which yields to a temperature dependent anisotropy with 5 at low temperatures and about 2 near . A peak effect is observed
in susceptibility measurements for 2 T parallel to the axis and
the critical current density presnts a sharp maximum for parallel to the
ab-plane.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
