A New Scheme for Secured on Demand Routing
A Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) is characterized by mobile nodes, multihop wireless connectivity, Non infrastructural environment and dynamic topology. A recent trend in Ad Hoc network routing is the reactive on-demand philosophy where routes are established only when required. Stable Routing, Security and Power efficiency are the major concerns in this field. This paper is an effort to achieve security solutions to achieve more reliable routing. Â The ad hoc environment is accessible to both legitimate network users and malicious attackers. The proposed scheme is intended to incorporate security aspect on existing protocol AODV. The study will help in making protocol more robust against attacks to achieve stable routing in routing protocols. Keywords: Ad hoc Networks, Modified AODV, AODV, Performance evaluation
Response of a Stretched String Subjected to a Moving Mass
In this paper, the dynamics of a taut horizontal string with a constant velocity moving mass including its rotary inertia, is modelled. The equation of motion is solved using Galerkin’s approach, employing appropriate comparison functions. A discontinuity or jump in the trajectory of the mass has been established when the mass is about to leave the string. The consideration of rotary inertia in the model is found to affect the spatial location of the jump in the trajectory of the moving mass
Study on developmental biochemical characteristics of Leishmania donovani promastigote and inhibitory effect of Achyranthes aspera Linn plant extract on it
Leishmania donovani is an obligatory intracellular digenetic parasite transmitted by insects, causing serious global health problems as it is endemic to most developing countries. Extensive use of antimony compounds as drugs poses high toxicity and cost; therefore, herbal medicine has identified a position. This study explored the developmental and biochemical characteristics of L. donovani promastigote and the effect of ethanolic extract of Achyranthes aspera Linn (Amaranthaceae) plant on it. The parasites were incubated at 2.5×106 cells/well for 72 h at 23 °C in the presence of various concentrations of extract (µg/mL) dissolved in 1% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) with sterile phosphate-buffered saline and 1% DMSO as negative controls and meglumine antimoniate as positive control. Friedman’s repeated measures analysis showed that 96hr of development is the junction point in promastigotes ontogeny. Post 96hr, it grows with a long stationary phase with higher enzymatic activities of acid phosphatase, superoxide dismutase and glutathione (oxidized and reduced). Total protein estimated showed a linear relationship (R2 = 0.999). Phytochemical screening of the plant extract showed the presence of alkaloid, flavonoid, fixed oil and fats, saponin, tannin and phenolic compounds. It showed an effectual free radical scavenging in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay with an inhibitory concentration IC50 value of 61.70 µg/ml. At a concentration of 250 µg/mL, the plant extract completely inhibited the promastigotes in vitro while at 50 µg/mL and 100 µg/mL, the survival level declined by 25-50%. These findings corroborate the ethnopharmacological use of this plant for the treatment of leishmaniasis caused by L. donovani
Protein Nanoparticles as Vaccine Platforms for Human and Zoonotic Viruses
Vaccines are one of the most effective medical interventions, playing a pivotal role in treating infectious diseases. Although traditional vaccines comprise killed, inactivated, or liveattenuated pathogens that have resulted in protective immune responses, the negative consequences of their administration have been well appreciated. Modern vaccines have evolved to contain purified antigenic subunits, epitopes, or antigen-encoding mRNAs, rendering them relatively safe. However, reduced humoral and cellular responses pose major challenges to these subunit vaccines. Protein nanoparticle (PNP)-based vaccines have garnered substantial interest in recent years for their ability to present a repetitive array of antigens for improving immunogenicity and enhancing protective responses. Discovery and characterisation of naturally occurring PNPs from various living organisms such as bacteria, archaea, viruses, insects, and eukaryotes, as well as computationally designed structures and approaches to link antigens to the PNPs, have paved the way for unprecedented advances in the field of vaccine technology. In this review, we focus on some of the widely used naturally occurring and optimally designed PNPs for their suitability as promising vaccine platforms for displaying native-like antigens from human viral pathogens for protective immune responses. Such platforms hold great promise in combating emerging and re-emerging infectious viral diseases and enhancing vaccine efficacy and safety
Anomalous pumping in the non-Hermitian Rice-Mele model
We study topological charge pumping (TCP) in the Rice-Mele (RM) model with
irreciprocal hopping. The non-Hermiticity gives rise to interesting pumping
physics, owing to the presence of skin effect and exceptional points. In the
static 1D RM model, we observe two independent tuning knobs that drive the
topological transition, viz., non-Hermitian parameter and system size
. To elucidate the system-size dependency, we made use of the finite-size
generalized Brillouin zone (GBZ) scheme. This scheme captures the state pumping
of topological edge modes in the static 1D RM model and provides further
insight into engineering novel gapless exceptional edge modes with the help of
adiabatic drive. Finally, we apply three types of adiabatic protocols to study
TCP in the 1+1D RM model. We further explain the number of pumped charges (in
each period) using a non-Bloch topological invariant. This exactly explains the
presence of different pumping phases in the non-Hermitian RM model as we tune
the non-Hermitian parameter . We observe that in a non-Hermitian
system, even a trivial adiabatic protocol can lead to pumping that has no
Hermitian counterpart.Comment: 16 pages, 18 figure
Development of Motion Trackers for Space Debris Research
Space debris are dysfunctional artificial objects that are orbiting around the earth.
Miniaturization and advancement in space technology have encouraged the increase in the
number of small-satellite constellations. Over the years, in-orbit catastrophic events have
resulted in an exponential increase in space pollution with the ever-expanding coverage area of
space debris. An international consortium of private institutions and space agencies works
together to address the concern by extensive research and development related to active
debris tracking and removal methods. On the same grounds, the Institute of Technical Physics
of German Aerospace Center is developing ground based high energy laser facility and optical
instruments to track and remove space debris from Low Earth Orbit. The internship project
aims to develop a motion tracker software to track the sample in a technology demonstration
experiment of impulse generation through laser-matter interaction. Several object detection
and motion tracking algorithms in computer vision were reviewed and analyzed to accomplish
it. For object detection, Harris Corner Detector and Scale Invariant Feature Transform
algorithms exhibit a decent success rate. Optical flow point based tracking was most promising
to obtain a 3-Dimensional sample track specifically in a multi-view camera configuration. The
reference data files used for software development are the high-speed videos originally
obtained during the laser-matter interaction experiment throughout the project
UNSTEADY FLOW THROUGH POROUS MEDIA PAST ON MOVING VERTICAL PLATE WITH VARIABLE TEMPERATURE IN THE PRESENCE OF INCLINED MAGNETIC FIELD
In this paper, we have investigated the motion of unsteady flow through porous media past on moving vertical plate with variable temperature in the presence of inclined magnetic field. The fluid considered is viscous, electrically conducting, incompressible, absorbing-emitting radiation in a non-scattering medium. The Laplace transform technique has been used to find the solutions for the velocity profile. The velocity profile has been studied for different parameters like Hartmann number, Prandtl number, thermal Grashof number and time. The effects of variable parameters to the velocity profiles are discussed graphically and the numerical values obtained for skin-friction has been tabulated
