Partial vaccination programs and the eradication of infectious diseases
We incorporate the possibility of eradicating infectious diseases through partial vaccinations into a static model where each individual incurs a cost, which differs among the individuals, when he/she is administered a vaccine. We show that if an infectious disease is eradicated by vaccinating up to the individual whose vaccination cost is lower than a threshold, then the partial compulsory vaccination program is strictly preferable to the free choice vaccination program in terms of social welfare otherwise, the free choice vaccination program is strictly preferable to the partial compulsory vaccination program. Our result is a generalization of Brito, Sheshinski, and Intriligator (1991).infectious disease, partial compulsory vaccination, eradication
Equal probability for the best and the assignment of identical indivisible objects
We consider the problem of allocating several units of an indivisible object among agents with single-peaked utility functions. We introduce an axiom called equal probability for the best, and show that it is equivalent to both equal treatment of equals and symmetry in the presence of Pareto optimality. Moreover, we also show that the randomized uniform rule is the only randomized rule satisfying strategy-proofness, Pareto optimality, and equal probability for the best.
A Characterization of the Randomized Uniform Rule
We consider the problem of allocating several units of an indivisible object among the agents with single-peaked and risk-averse utility functions. We introduce equal probability for the best, and show that the randomized uniform rule is the only randomized rule satisfying strategy-proofness, Pareto optimality, and equal probability for the best. This is an alternative characterization of the result of Ehlers and Klaus (2004).The Randomized Uniform Rule, Single-Peaked Utility Functions, Equal Probability for the Best, Strategy-Proofness, Indivisibility

Application of the 0-1 Programming Model for Cost-Effective Regression Test
Abstract-This paper reports an application of the 0-1 programming model to the regression testing plan for an industrial software. The key idea is to formulate a testing plan as a 0-1 programming problem (Knapsack problem). The empirical study shows that the 0-1 programming method can produce a cost-effective testing plan in which all potential regressions are found at only 22% of the cost of running all test cases
