A Software Tool for Parameter Estimation from Flight Test Data

A software package called FIDA is developed and implemented in PC MATLAB for estimating aircraft stability and control derivatives from flight test data using different system identification techniques. FIDA also contains data pre-processing tools to remove wild points and high frequency noise components from measured flight data. FIDA is a menu driven and user interactive software which is useful to scientists/flight test engineers/pilots who are engaged in experimental flights and analysis of flight test data. Also it has an educational value for students and practising engineers who are new to the field of aircraft parameter estimation

Target Tracking in Non-Gaussian Environment

Masreliez filter which is a Kalman type of recursive filter is implemented and validated. The main computation in Masreliez filter is to evaluate the score function which directly influences the estimates of the target states. Scalar approximation for score function evaluation is extended to vector observations, implemented and validated. The simulation studies have shown that the performance of the Masreliez filter is relatively better than that of the conventional Kalman filter in the presence of significant glint noise in the observation

Adolescent- Parent Communication And Information Sharing

Abstract The study is conducted among 100 adolescents in Kerala State in India to know the sharing of information by the adolescents with their parents. The matters they communicate with their parents and the matters they are reluctant to communicate are studied. The data was collected using questionnaire. The analysis of the data was done based on the responses received from 92 adolescents. The analysis reveals that the adolescents communicate with their parent most frequently. The females are more communicative in many respects. They share with their parents the method of teaching, behavior of their teachers, marks obtained in the examinations, the details about their best friend, behavior of friends and qualities of friends. However, they are reluctant to share information such as mutual affection, type of dress friends wear and the use of social media by the friends. The adolescents share own feeling and general personal matters with their parents. The social issues are discussed more by female adolescents with their parents. As compared to males, the females are more reluctant to reveal to their parents the information about their affair and the physical changes they have. The males are reluctant to communicate with their parents about addiction. The adolescents are reluctant to communicate matters with their parents due to shyness. The adolescents prefer to communicate their feeling and emotions with their mother

Input Excitation Techniques for Aerodynamic Derivatives Estimation of Highly Augmented Fighter Aircraft

This paper presents the results of an investigation related to the estimation of lateral-directional aerodynamic derivatives of highly augmented and advanced fighter aircraft from the flight like response data. Different types of pilot inputs are used to generate aircraft response data in the engineer-in-loop flight simulator to determine which input excitation flight provide the most accurate estimates of aircraft stability and control derivatives. Also, MATILABI SIMULINK-based simulation platform is used to generate aircraft response with single-surface excitation to evaluate the usefulness of the method for stability and control derivatives estimation. The maximum likelihood estimation, based on output error utilisation technique is used to estimate the derivatives from the aircraft simulation response data. The results indicate that accuracy of the estimated derivatives improve with persistence excitation and single-surface excitation

Factorization filtering algorithm with colored noise for tracking

Progressive hemi facial atrophy - Parry Romberg syndrome presenting as severe facial pain in a young man: a case report

We present a 30-year-old South Indian man who presented with complaints of left sided headache and facial pain for past 3 months, severe for past 10 days. On physical examination, right side of the face appeared normal. Left side of the face showed signs of hemi atrophy with minimal drooping of left eyelid. All Systems were found to be normal. Routine blood and urine investigations results were within normal limits. X-ray chest revealed no abnormalities and x-ray skull showed both sides equal. Computerized tomogram of the brain showed left minimal sub dural hygroma with no midline shift, and no evidence of cerebral edema or cerebral atrophy. Nerve conduction study showed features suggestive of trigeminal neuralgia. MRI of the skull base was also normal and showed no evidence of trigeminal nerve compression. Interestingly, he had minimal response to analgesics, steroids, and propranolol, but showed immediate response to carbamazepine. Hence this patient indeed had Parry Romberg syndrome: Hemi facial atrophy with trigeminal neuralgia

INTERACTING MULTIPLE MODEL SEEKER FILTER FOR TRACKING EVASIVE TARGETS

Seeker filter is an important subsystem in modern homing guidance system of advanced intercepting missiles. Seeker filter design for homing guidance requirements are highly demanding and challenging. Very low filter lag, high noise attenuation are some of the challenges that need to be addressed. This paper presents an interacting multiple model augmented extended Kalman filter (IMM-AEKF) design to operate as seeker filter in close loop homing guidance of an interceptor to track evasive targets. The performance of the seeker filter is verified with six degree of freedom interceptor-target engagement simulation with seeker filter in guidance loop of the interceptor. Different filter performance criteria have been used to verify the performance of the seeker filter. The seeker filter efficiently handles the various seeker noise and provides a smooth estimate of target states to generate guidance command for intercepting missile. The miss distance achieved is within the acceptable limits

Unusual presentation of giant ganglion cyst from the infrapatellar (Hoffa’s) fat pad of knee: a case report

Ganglion cyst of the knee joint can be intra articular or extra articular. Large intra articular ganglionic cystic formations arising from the infrapatellar fat pad are quite uncommon and only few are reported. Treatment option is surgery(open/arthroscopic) depending on the site and size of the cyst. We report a case of giant ganglion cyst arising from the infra patellar Hoffa's fat pad which presents anterior to the patellar tendon through a rent in the medial retinaculum with the posterior wall of the cyst being adherent to the para tenon of the patellar tendon, in a 58 year old male which presents anterior to the patellar tendon through a rent in the patellar retinaculum which was adherent to the para tenon of the patellar tendon and it was managed by open excision of the cyst.

An Insilico Study of Quinic Acid Derivatives as Inhibitors of Com A, The Quorum Sensing Protein of Streptococcus Mutans Responsible for The Pathogenesis in Dental Caries

Dental caries is considered to be one of the important infectious diseases throughout the world. It was recognized that the Streptococcus mutans, plays an important role in cariogenesis. The oral streptococci in biofilms may communicate by a quorum-sensing CSP signalling system. The products of at least six genes, comAB, comX, and comCDE, are involved in CSP signalling. It has been proved that loss of Com A attenuates the formation of biofilm. In the present study quinic acid derivatives have been developed insilico as the inhibitors of Com A and a molecular docking study is performed to find its efficiency as inhibitors. The three-dimensional structure of Com A was retrieved from RCSB- PDB database. The possible binding sites of Com A were searched using binding site prediction 3DLIGANDSITE. The structure of quinic acid was obtained from ZINC database. A total of 100 ligands were generated with the help of software ACD chemsketch. Rapid virtual screenings of these compounds were performed in the docking tool iGEMDOCK v2.0. Based on the binding energy a total of five ligands were selected for the further study. The selected five ligands were then analyzed for drug- relevant properties based on “Lipinski’s rule of five” and other drug like properties. The docking of five ligands was performed using AutoDock 4.0 software. From the present study, it has been found that (1R)-1, 3, 4- trihydroxy-5-methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid, which is a novel compound, a derivative of quinic acid, can act has an inhibitor for the Com A
