The Best Answers? Think Twice: Online Detection of Commercial Campaigns in the CQA Forums
In an emerging trend, more and more Internet users search for information
from Community Question and Answer (CQA) websites, as interactive communication
in such websites provides users with a rare feeling of trust. More often than
not, end users look for instant help when they browse the CQA websites for the
best answers. Hence, it is imperative that they should be warned of any
potential commercial campaigns hidden behind the answers. However, existing
research focuses more on the quality of answers and does not meet the above
need. In this paper, we develop a system that automatically analyzes the hidden
patterns of commercial spam and raises alarms instantaneously to end users
whenever a potential commercial campaign is detected. Our detection method
integrates semantic analysis and posters' track records and utilizes the
special features of CQA websites largely different from those in other types of
forums such as microblogs or news reports. Our system is adaptive and
accommodates new evidence uncovered by the detection algorithms over time.
Validated with real-world trace data from a popular Chinese CQA website over a
period of three months, our system shows great potential towards adaptive
online detection of CQA spams.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure
An Empirical Study on Listed Companies Merger Synergies
AbstractM&A is not only playing an important role in optimizing the allocation of resources and promoting the economic development, but also is important component of enterprise external growth. Synergy is not only the significant reason of M&A; at the same time, it is an essential measure standard of success or failure. This paper argues that the internal measurement model and abnormal returns methodology to measure are all not adapted to our special economic environment; therefore, this paper sets up the measurement model of synergistic effect based on financial index of accounting methods, and the M&A events from 2004 to 2006 in China was listed for the inspection analysis of the synergistic effect. Finally, based on the empirical results relevant suggestions were put forward
Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase SHP-2 (PTPN11) in Hematopoiesis and Leukemogenesis
SHP-2 (PTPN11), a ubiquitously expressed protein tyrosine phosphatase, is critical for hematopoietic cell development and function owing to its essential role in growth factor/cytokine signaling. More importantly, germline and somatic mutations in this phosphatase are associated with Noonan syndrome, Leopard syndrome, and childhood hematologic malignancies. The molecular mechanisms by which SHP-2 mutations induce these diseases are not fully understood, as the biochemical bases of SHP-2 functions still remain elusive. Further understanding SHP-2 signaling activities and identification of its interacting proteins/substrates will shed light on the pathogenesis of PTPN11-associated hematologic malignancies, which, in turn, may lead to novel therapeutics for these diseases
Information Filtering on Coupled Social Networks
In this paper, based on the coupled social networks (CSN), we propose a
hybrid algorithm to nonlinearly integrate both social and behavior information
of online users. Filtering algorithm based on the coupled social networks,
which considers the effects of both social influence and personalized
preference. Experimental results on two real datasets, \emph{Epinions} and
\emph{Friendfeed}, show that hybrid pattern can not only provide more accurate
recommendations, but also can enlarge the recommendation coverage while
adopting global metric. Further empirical analyses demonstrate that the mutual
reinforcement and rich-club phenomenon can also be found in coupled social
networks where the identical individuals occupy the core position of the online
system. This work may shed some light on the in-depth understanding structure
and function of coupled social networks
