    STUDY OF BODY’S ENERGY CHANGES IN NON-TOUCH ENERGY HEALING 1. PRANIC HEALING PROTOCOL APPLIED FOR A BREAST CANCER SUBJECT

    Changes in the body’s energetic conditions were measured through four sessions of non-touch Pranic Healing performed on a breast cancer subject. The healing protocol included steps to inhibit the lower chakras and to expand the upper chakras by manipulating subtle energy levels and patterns by the healer’s hands and intention. The parameter BP of the AMI (Apparatus for Meridian Identification), chosen as the marker for subtle energy (Qi-energy) level in the primary meridians of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), showed significant relative changes in the meridians resulting in an unusual reversal of the upper/lower Qi-energy imbalance as a result of the healing trial. The relative decrease in Qi-energy level was most conspicuous in those meridians supposedly related to the lower chakras which the healer targeted for “inhibition.” Conversely the most conspicuous relative increase in Qi-energy level was seen in the meridians related to the upper chakras targeted for “expansion.” This is the first observation of Qi-energy changes by means of an electrically measurable variable, which provides strong objective evidence for the reality of Qi-energy manipulation claimed in non-touch energy healing. Other AMI parameters (AP and IQ) also showed significant changes in directions conducive for healing

    STUDY OF BODY’S ENERGY CHANGES IN NON-TOUCH ENERGY HEALING 3. SYNCHRONOUS CHANGES IN QI-ENERGY LEVELS BETWEEN HEALER AND SUBJECT DURING HYPNOTHERAPY HEALING

    Continuous AMI measurement was performed simultaneously at 14 Jing-Well points of the healer’s left and right toes and 14 Jing-Well points of the subject’s left and right fingers for approximately 60 minutes comprising Control 1, Healing and Control 2. Four sessions were conducted with the same healer and subject under the same protocol. Acquired time series data were analyzed for the presence of the synchronous (i.e., correlation with no lag) changes by introducing a novel idea of Weighted Correlation Index Analysis (WCIA). The WCIA was performed for all possible pairs of healer’s foot meridians and subject’s hand meridians for each of the four sessions. Significantly correlated changes were found in three of the four sessions. In Session 3 statistically significant occurrences (p=0.02~2x10-7) of positively correlated changes were found in all the four pairs of healer’s left/right foot meridians and subject’s left/right hand meridians. In Session 1 statistically significant occurrences (p<0.005) of negatively correlated changes were also found in healer’s left foot and subject’s left hand meridian pairs. It was found that synchronous changes, positive or negative in correlation, occurred sporadically in varying degrees of correlation and magnitude during the period of healing and subsequent control. For cases of positively correlated changes significant deviation from expected frequency was found suggesting that healer’s Spleen and Urinary Bladder meridians appear most frequently (p~0.010)

    Fracture behavior of single crystal silicon with thermal oxide layer

    This paper reports on the effect of oxidation on fracture behavior of single crystal silicon (SCS). SCS specimens were fabricated from (1. 0. 0) silicon-on-insulator wafer with 5-μm-thick device layer and oxide layer were thermally grown. Quasi-static tensile testing of as-fabricated, oxidized and oxidized layer removed specimens was performed. The fracture origin location transited from the surface to silicon/oxide interface and inside of silicon. The transition may be caused by surface smoothing, thickening oxide layer and formation of oxide precipitation defects in silicon during oxidation. The radius of the oxide precipitation defects was estimated, which is well agreed with the fracture-initiating crack sizes

    An Alternative Approach for Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for Intra-atrial Reentrant Tachycardia Associated with Open-Heart Surgery

    We present case reports of 2 patients with scar-related intra-atrial reentrant tachycardia (IART) associated with previous open-heart surgeries, in which standard ablation strategies failed to eliminate atrial tachycardia (AT). The strategies targeted a narrow conducting channel between the right atrial scars or between the scar and inferior vena cava. In these patients, an alternative approach to transect another narrow conducting pathway between the scar and crista terminalis (CT), which was revealed by a noncontact mapping system, successfully terminated and eliminated the IART. Both the cases were free of recurrent AT at the 24-and 25-month follow up visits, respectively. Transection of the corridor between the CT and the incision scar appears to be an effective technique for eliminating scar-related IART and can be considered as a second-line procedure for radiofrequency catheter ablation to eliminate IART

     本研究は,教科内容構成の考え方に基づいて小学校の授業づくりのあり方を検討するとともに,それをふまえることで大学の教員養成プログラムの授業が具体的にどのように改善されるかを明らかにしようとしたものである。教科内容構成とは,教員養成において従来から課題とされてきた教科の内容に関わる知識・技能と教科の指導法に関わる知識・技能の分離という問題を克服するために提案されたものである。教科内容構成は,教科の内容と指導法に関わる知識・技能を統合し,それらを応用して,教師が自ら「どのような内容をどのように教えるべきか」を考え,授業づくりに取り組むことができるようになるための考え方を示すものであり,本研究では教員養成プログラムにおける具体的な授業プランを提示してそれを明らかにしていく。本稿では,特に,小学校の国語科,算数科,理科を事例として論じていくことにしたい

    Salvage surgery with a tumor prosthesis for femoral condylar nonunion at the very advanced age of 90 years

    We report an unusual case of multifragmentary condylar femoral nonunion with severe synovitis and bone loss in a 90-year-old woman. Initially, conservative treatment of the condylar femoral fracture was indicated because the fracture was severely comminuted and the patient was very advanced in age. The fracture failed to heal. Salvage surgery with a total knee tumor endoprosthetic replacement was performed. Four years postoperatively, the patient was walking without knee pain using a walker. We believe that the present results justify the use of a megaprosthesis in the treatment of benign conditions even in very elderly patients. © 2012
