The magnetic interactions in spin-glasslike Ge/1-x-y/Sn/x/Mn/y/Te diluted magnetic semiconductor
We investigated the nature of the magnetic phase transition in the
Ge/1-x-y/Sn/x/Mn/y/Te mixed crystals with chemical composition changing in the
range of 0.083 < x < 0.142 and 0.012 < y < 0.119. The DC magnetization
measurements performed in the magnetic field up to 90 kOe and temperature range
2-200 K showed that the magnetic ordering at temperatures below T = 50 K
exhibits features characteristic for both spin-glass and ferromagnetic phases.
The modified Sherrington - Southern model was applied to explain the observed
transition temperatures. The calculations showed that the spin-glass state is
preferred in the range of the experimental carrier concentrations and Mn
content. The value of the Mn hole exchange integral was estimated to be J/pd/ =
0.45+/-0.05 eV. The experimental magnetization vs temperature curves were
reproduced satisfactory using the non-interacting spin-wave theory with the
exchange constant J/pd/ values consistent with those calculated using modified
Sherrington - Southern model. The magnetization vs magnetic field curves showed
nonsaturating behavior at magnetic fields B < 90 kOe indicating the presence of
strong magnetic frustration in the system. The experimental results were
reproduced theoretically with good accuracy using the molecular field
approximation-based model of a disordered ferromagnet with long-range RKKY

Hydrothermal Preparation of Gd+3 -Doped Titanate Nanotubes: Magnetic Properties and Photovoltaic Performance
Pure and Gd+3 -doped titanate nanotubes (TNTs) materials were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Their morphology, optical properties, thermal stability, and magnetic properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and magnetic measurements. It was found that doping renders Gd+3-TNT visible light active and results in smaller crystallite size and larger surface area as well as higher thermal stability compared to pure titanate nanotubes. The estimated magnetic moments point to presence of weak antiferromagnetic interaction. Application of the prepared Gd+3-TNT for modifying conventional photoanodes in polymer solar cells was attempted. Preliminary results show slightly improved photovoltaic energy conversion efficiency in the devices containing the newly designed Gd+3 -doped nanotubes
LISTA DE CESTODA DO BRASIL
Se presenta una lista completa de las 432 especies de Cestoda que se han descrito y / o registrados en Brasil. Se distribuyen atravĂ©s de 15 Ăłrdenes y 36 familias; 50 especies no fueron identificadas y 9 se consideran species inquirenda. Entre los peces, Zungaro zungaro (Humboldt in Humboldt & Valenciennes, 1821) fue el hospedador que fue más parasitadas (con 18 especies de cestodos); entre los anfibios, fue Rhinella icterica Spix, 1824, con 3 especies; y entre los reptiles, fue Bothrops jararaca (Wied-Neuwied, 1824), con 7 especies. Entre las aves, Gallus gallus (Linnaeus, 1758) presentĂł el mayor numero de asociaciones con cestodos, de tal manera que 13 especies se han registrado en Brasil y teniendo en cuenta los mamĂferos, Homo sapiens (Linnaeus, 1758) presentan 13 especies diferentes. Pocos representantes de estas especies de cestode se reportaran de invertebrados. El pequeño nĂşmero de los helmintos parásitos descritos es probablemente debido al submuestreo de hospedadores potenciales, junto con el pequeño nĂşmero de expertos en la taxonomĂa de los parásitos
Drug sensitivity of single cancer cells is predicted by changes in mass accumulation rate
Assays that can determine the response of tumor cells to cancer therapeutics could greatly aid the selection of drug regimens for individual patients. However, the utility of current functional assays is limited, and predictive genetic biomarkers are available for only a small fraction of cancer therapies. We found that the single-cell mass accumulation rate (MAR), profiled over many hours with a suspended microchannel resonator, accurately defined the drug sensitivity or resistance of glioblastoma and B-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia cells. MAR revealed heterogeneity in drug sensitivity not only between different tumors, but also within individual tumors and tumor-derived cell lines. MAR measurement predicted drug response using samples as small as 25 ÎĽl of peripheral blood while maintaining cell viability and compatibility with downstream characterization. MAR measurement is a promising approach for directly assaying single-cell therapeutic responses and for identifying cellular subpopulations with phenotypic resistance in heterogeneous tumors.United States. Clinical multiplexed exome sequencing distinguishes adult oligodendroglial neoplasms from astrocytic and mixed lineage gliomas
Classifying adult gliomas remains largely a histologic diagnosis based on morphology; however astrocytic, oligodendroglial and mixed lineage tumors can display overlapping histologic features. We used multiplexed exome sequencing (OncoPanel) on 108 primary or recurrent adult gliomas, comprising 65 oligodendrogliomas, 28 astrocytomas and 15 mixed oligoastrocytomas to identify lesions that could enhance lineage classification. Mutations in TP53 (20/28, 71%) and ATRX (15/28, 54%) were enriched in astrocytic tumors compared to oligodendroglial tumors of which 4/65 (6%) had mutations in TP53 and 2/65 (3%) had ATRX mutations. We found that oligoastrocytomas harbored mutations in TP53 (80%, 12/15) and ATRX (60%, 9/15) at frequencies similar to pure astrocytic tumors, suggesting that oligoastrocytomas and astrocytomas may represent a single genetic or biological entity. p53 protein expression correlated with mutation status and showed significant increases in astrocytomas and oligoastrocytomas compared to oligodendrogliomas, a finding that also may facilitate accurate classification. Furthermore our OncoPanel analysis revealed that 15% of IDH1/2 mutant gliomas would not be detected by traditional IDH1 (p.R132H) antibody testing, supporting the use of genomic technologies in providing clinically relevant data.
