Price Perceptions in the Selection of Golf Courses: A Case Study of Municipal Golf Courses in the City of Albuquerque

The golf industry in the United States has grown tremendously over the last fifteen years, due primarily to the surging economy during the 1990s and the rise of Tiger Woods with his record-setting win at the 1997 Masters. The National Golf Foundation\u27s (NGF) latest report, however, showed that, the number of rounds played, a key barometer of golf industry growth, has been declining since 2008 and the number of core golfers has also declined (Rudy, 2008). Municipal golf courses, Munis, are coping with a myriad of challenges such as declining number of rounds played, budget cuts, escalating benefits expenses for city employees, the increased cost of turf management, and so on. For example, the city of Albuquerque has increased their green fees to cover costs of maintaining their three municipal courses; however, no data exists to analyze the impact of this decision. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze factors affecting consumers’ preferences in selecting golf courses, their perceptions about the prices of products being sold at the golf courses, and to analyze the differences in price perceptions among different groups of golfers such as avid golfers, core golfers, and casual golfers. A questionnaire was developed based on literature available in the golf industry and reviewed by an expert panel. The findings show that there were no significant differences among golfers using municipal golf courses about price perceptions being sold at the pro shop including green fees, cart rentals, golf equipment, etc. Golfers perceived green fees as “reasonable” but the results of this research suggest that golf course authorities should keep green fees competitive, and find other innovative ways to manage their course assets to increase participation in the future

The AM-Bench: An Android Multimedia Benchmark Suite

Despite the significant evolution of mobile devices and the increased use of mobile devices, not many mobile benchmarks have been studied. Even though mobile applications share similar characteristics with traditional desktop oriented applications, different programming environments and user usage patterns present different characteristics. In this paper, we introduce an open source based mobile multimedia benchmark for Android platforms (AM-Bench). The AM-Bench consists of several multimedia benchmarks running on Android platforms. We explain the characteristics of the AM-Bench and compare performance on four Android-based platforms

EValuation of the thixoformability of AA7004 and AA7075 alloys

    No full text
This study involved a complete evaluation of the thixoformability of AA7004 and AA7075 alloys, from their microstructural characterization to their viscous behavior. The alloys were subjected to globularization heat treatments for 0, 30, 90 and 210 seconds in two conditions of solid fractions, 45 and 60%, and to viscosity assays under the same conditions. Heat treatments promote the globularization of primary phase particles; hence, the best viscosity results were achieved for alloys with low solid fractions heat-treated for 210 seconds. Alloys AA7004 and AA7075 showed an apparent viscosity of 10(4) to 10(5) (Pa.s). The behavior of materials in this range is similar to that of molten glass and they show high formability. However, the AA7075 alloy showed a better performance than the AA7004 due to the smaller size of its primary particles and original grains, their lower growth during reheating, and depending on the condition, their viscosity of 10(4) Pa.s, which is extremely low for thixoforming standards

Response Analysis of Resistor-type Gas Sensor with Bias Voltage Condition

    No full text
Many studies on the response analysis of resistor-type gas sensors have been reported. In this work, the bias dependent sensitivity of resistor-type gas sensors is investigated. The response to NO2 gas is 40% lower at high bias voltages than at low bias voltages. We analyze the effect of sensing material resistance and metal-semiconductor (sensing material) contact resistance on gas response. The measured results from the pattern to which the transmission line method was applied show that the bias-dependent response is observed only in the contact resistance component. This result is analyzed using the bias dependence of the Schottky barrier that occurs in the metal-semiconductor contact. The performance of the sensor can be improved by utilizing the bias dependent sensitivity characteristics.N
