Off-diagonal magnetoimpedance in field-annealed Co-based amorphous ribbons
The off-diagonal magnetoimpedance in field-annealed CoFeSiB amorphous ribbons
was measured in the low-frequency range using a pick-up coil wound around the
sample. The asymmetric two-peak behavior of the field dependence of the
off-diagonal impedance was observed. The asymmetry is attributed to the
formation of a hard magnetic crystalline phase at the ribbon surface. The
experimental results are interpreted in terms of the surface impedance tensor.
It is assumed that the ribbon consists of an inner amorphous region and surface
crystalline layers. The coupling between the crystalline and amorphous phases
is described through an effective bias field. A qualitative agreement between
the calculated dependences and experimental data is demonstrated. The results
obtained may be useful for development of weak magnetic-field sensors.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figure
A Content Analysis Of Advertising Transitions: Impact Of Brand Name, Persona, And Appeals
Advertising has long been considered an element of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) tools and has played a crucial role in delivering messages that are reflected by various environmental situations. The authors of this paper posit that components of advertising including contents of messages, language, choice of persona and appeals are strongly affected by such environmental factors as social, cultural, and economic movements. Based on this consideration, this study investigates the trend in advertising markets by reflecting transitional market issues. In particular, this study investigates the effects of brand name, celebritiesâ roles, age groups, gender, and advertising appeals. The purpose of the study is to investigate the following elements of advertising that are often affected by such recent transitions as social, cultural, and economic movements: i) effects of a brand name containing meanings; ii) effects of a brand name stemming from the native language; iii) effects of celebrities appearances in ads, iv) effects of age groups and the role of gender in the persona; and v) effects of advertising messages that include rational or emotional appeals. This study conducted content analysis by examining selected TV commercials and gives implications of how the effectiveness of advertising is related to the aforementioned environmental movements, emphasizing which issues should be considered for future advertising content
Impact Of Retirement System On Job Satisfaction And Loyalty: A Case Of The Salary Peak System
The salary peak system, developed as a replacement for the early retirement system, provides properties such as extension of the retirement age, decreased salary, and/or changes of job position. The purpose of this study is to explore the perceived attitudes toward the salary peak system, as well as job performance, satisfaction, and loyalty. In particular, this study investigates i) the effects of monetary variables (e.g., salary, incentive, pension); ii) the effects of the non-monetary variables (e.g., word of mouth, position, perceived job importance, organizational commitment); iii) the effects of overall attitudes on job performance; iv) the effects of job performance on satisfaction; and v) effects of satisfaction on loyalty. This study applied various theories and models to explain job performance, satisfaction, and loyalty. In order to measure the findings, this paper conducted surveys and applied statistical analysis using factor analysis and regression. The result provided consideration on old workerâs job motivation, satisfaction, and loyalty or intention to leave regarding how to apply the system. This study provides implications for management and public policy for a retirement system. This study suggests the need for the development of effective management and public policies for the salary and retirement system without decreasing motivation, satisfaction, and loyalty.
Exploring Antecedents & Consequences Of Customer Satisfaction With Smartphones: Implications For CRM
Customers of smartphones spend most of their waking time using them, as they have become the most innovative electronic devices. As the time spent on smartphones increases, the customerâs dependence on smartphones also increases. Therefore smartphones are more than telecommunication devices to customers. This paper examines factors (i.e., antecedents) affecting smartphone customer satisfaction and factors (i.e., consequences) arising from smartphone customer satisfaction. In particular, this study explores how the level of customer satisfaction affects loyalty, brand image, corporate image and country of origin. This study involved an online survey and applied t-test, factor, and regression analyses. The results provide managerial and theoretical implications for satisfaction and customer relationship management.
Photometric defocus observations of transiting extrasolar planets
We have carried out photometric follow-up observations of bright transiting
extrasolar planets using the CbNUOJ 0.6m telescope. We have tested the
possibility of obtaining high photometric precision by applying the telescope
defocus technique allowing the use of several hundred seconds in exposure time
for a single measurement. We demonstrate that this technique is capable of
obtaining a root-mean-square scatter of order sub-millimagnitude over several
hours for a V 10 host star typical for transiting planets detected from
ground-based survey facilities. We compare our results with transit
observations with the telescope operated in in-focus mode. High photometric
precision is obtained due to the collection of a larger amount of photons
resulting in a higher signal compared to other random and systematic noise
sources. Accurate telescope tracking is likely to further contribute to
lowering systematic noise by probing the same pixels on the CCD. Furthermore, a
longer exposure time helps reducing the effect of scintillation noise which
otherwise has a significant effect for small-aperture telescopes operated in
in-focus mode. Finally we present the results of modelling four light-curves
for which a root-mean-square scatter of 0.70 to 2.3 milli-magnitudes have been
achieved.Comment: 12 pages, 11 figures, 5 tables. Submitted to Journal of Astronomy and

Sports Reforms and Coachesâ Spoiled Identities:An Analysis of Structural Stigma
This article explores how sports coachesâ identity and social relations are shaped within the context of new policy initiatives in sport. It focuses particularly on South Koreaâs ongoing sports reforms wherein sports coaches feel stigmatized and disgraced. Informed by classic and contemporary sociological understandings of stigma and relying both on documents and narratives from 29 individuals, our qualitative analysis reveals that Korean coachesâ stigma is discrediting, prior-known, and power-laden. By viewing stigmatization as a social process constructed both âsymbolicallyâ and âstructurally,â this article extends Goffmanâs analysis to argue that coachesâ stigmatization is rooted in the social, institutional, and political power around sports reforms that forge stigmatizing attitudes and beliefs across society by offering ready-made scripts for both the stigmatized and the ânormals.
