Real-time Automatic License Plate Recognition Using Color Features

    Get PDF
Various researchers presented various solutions for license plate detection but real-time performance is still a challenge in the field. In this paper, we propose a fast license plate detection method to work correctly in a real-time environment. In the first step, we locate or detect the license plate in the image sequences. We used color-based methods to detect the license plate. The method consists of computing image contours, later, we analyzed the contours to localize the license plate in the image sequences. After detecting the license plate, in the second step, we perform segmentation using a character recognition model. Finally, we propose the license plate format checking model to verify the detected license plate is the correct license plate. For the tools, we used OpenCV (open computer vision library) and tesseract for character recognition

Phase change materials (PCM) which can store energy and increased thermal properties of fabric applied on over a narrow temperature range. It is antiphonal to temperature change by absorbing or releasing heat which is potential for human skin. PCM for Thermal Energy Storage (TES) are materials supplying thermal regulation and change particular phase in temperatures by absorbing and emitting medium condition heat. Polyethylene glycol (PEG-1000) is used as PCM in this experiment and we took a 2.5% concentration that was encapsulated by using an in-situ polymerization technique. PEG microcapsules are verified by measuring FTIR analysis and DSC studies. The heat storage capacity of 2.5% PEG coated fabric was determined to be 2842.5120 J/g and for binder coated fabric 1557.8 J/g by DSC analysis and FT-IR analysis of PEG microcapsules exhibited the highest peak at 3400-2400cm−1 this is the characteristic absorption peaks of –OH stretching vibrations and we got average stiffness values for binder coated is 0.49 (warp wise) and 0.57(weft wise) and for 2.5% PEG coated is 0.71(warp wise) and 0.98(weft wise).  After that the treated fabrics were characterized with respect to their morphology and the laundering durability testing of 5 and 10 cycles was evaluated for practical use. In this paper we investigated about cooling effect of Fabric by using 2.5%. PCMs via the storage of latent heat by producing microcapsules showed higher thermal energy amount, than the binder coated fabric

An Efficient and Secure Cluster-Based Architecture for AMI Communication in Smart Grid

ABSTRACT Smart Grid has revolutionized Traditional Grid System by merging bi-directional communication network and information technology. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is an integral part of Smart Grid used to measure power consumed and demands at consumer-end. In this article, we propose an efficient and secure cluster-based architecture for AMI in Smart Grid, which fulfills the primary security requirements like confidentiality, authentication and integrity. Analysis shows that the proposed secure architecture for AMI in Smart Grid is efficient in terms of resource utilization

On the Theoretical Analysis of the Plant Propagation Algorithms

    Get PDF
Plant Propagation Algorithms (PPA) are powerful and flexible solvers for optimisation problems. They are nature-inspired heuristics which can be applied to any optimisation/search problem. There is a growing body of research, mainly experimental, on PPA in the literature. Little, however, has been done on the theoretical front. Given the prominence this algorithm is gaining in terms of performance on benchmark problems as well as practical ones, some theoretical insight into its convergence is needed. The current paper is aimed at fulfilling this by providing a sketch for a global convergence analysis

FACTORS INFLUENCING DESTINATION IMAGE THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE PRE-PURCHASE PERIOD OF TOURISM IN PAKISTAN

    Get PDF
Due to the technological advancements, people start depending on social media for various matters. As social media provides a tool for developing an image of the destination, it became an essential component in the process of decision-making regarding traveling. This study aims to investigate the influence of user-generated content (UGC), Information Quality (IQ) and Tourist’s Motivation (TM) on destination image through social media in the pre-trip period of tourism in Pakistan. The empirical analysis was conducted by using the survey method through online Google forms. Data was collected from social media (Facebook) users who were the members of the Facebook tourism groups in Pakistan. The findings of the study revealed that UGC does not significantly affect the destination image in the pre-purchase period. Whereas, information quality and tourist’s motivation significantly affect the destination image of Pakistani tourists. The research concludes that tourist’s motivation before experiencing tourism and the information they have exposed to plays a significant role in developing a destination image in the tourism market. Furthermore, this research contributes to the tourism sector of Pakistan by providing information regarding factors developing destination image. This information may help in developing a positive image of the destinations in Pakistan. Also, this study contributes by providing the tourism sector an understanding of the tourist’s behaviors in the pre-purchase period of traveling in Pakistan

This paper investigated the attitude of girls’ students towards mathematics and factors affecting their attitude towards the subject at intermediate level in Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA). The sample of the study was three hundred and thirty 330 pre-medical girls’ students from six 6 higher secondary schools and inter-colleges in Khyber Agency. A convenience sampling technique was used in the selection of schools while students were randomly selected. Data were collected through a researcher-developed questionnaire with (alpha=0.97) and were analyzed through descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that girls’ attitude towards mathematics was negative. Socio-cultural factors, Stereotypic effects, math’s anxiety, lack of role model in mathematics, deficiency of Mathematics teachers and lack of counseling services in schools/colleges were the main factors responsible for students negative attitude towards the subject. It was, therefore, recommended that revision of present math’s course, introducing math’s short courses, inclusion of description of the female role models in the subject, launching of effective awareness campaigns about mathematics career for girls, overcoming the deficiency of mathematics teachers in schools/colleges and establishing counseling services in schools/colleges were necessary for changing students’ attitude to provide them opportunities to join science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields

INVESTIGATING THE DETERMINANTS OF FACULTY JOB SATISFACTION UNDER THE MODERATING ROLE OF LIFE SATISFACTION: A STUDY OF PRIVATE SECTOR UNIVERSITIES OF PAKISTAN

Current study investigates the determinants of faculty job satisfaction in private sector universities of Pakistan. Furthermore, this study inquires the moderating role of life satisfaction on faculty job satisfaction. Approximately 500 questionnaires were distributed among the faculty members of W category private sector universities, out of 500 questionnaires, 430 were received and 396 were found to be completely filled as per criteria. After applying the statistical tools of SPSS 23, it was confirmed that motivational and hygienic factors have significant and positive relationship with faculty job satisfaction. Moreover, the results proved that impact of life satisfaction did not moderate the relationship of faculty job satisfaction with motivational factors as well as hygienic factors. The results of the study can be generalized to other universities as well as other sectors of the Pakistan. The framework of the study can be applied to compare the faculty job satisfaction level of public and private sector universities
