    University sports students’ serceptions of career value

    Bu araştırma, 2010-2011 eğitim-öğretim yılı içerisinde üniversiteler arası Futbol Türkiye Şampiyonası’na katılan takımlardaki sporcu öğrencilerin kariyer değeri algılarını tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Örneklem grup final müsabakalarına katılan 8 erkek takımında yer alan 144 sporcu öğrenci ile sınırlıdır. Örneklem grubun görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla, Aktaş’ın (2004) yüksek lisans çalışması için geliştirdiği ölçek formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, frekans, yüzdelik hesaplamalar, Mann-Whithney U testi ve Kruskal-Wallis H testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, örneklem grubun eğitim gördükleri üniversite değişkenine göre istatiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur.     A facile synthesis of bio-inspired hierarchical microstructure TiO2 :Characterization and photocatalytic activity

    Hierarchical photocatalysts have attracted notable concern due to their excellent features such as lower density, higher specific surface area, higher light-harvesting efficiency, and good surface permeability. Generally, such particular properties are achieved via the use of templates, preferentially focusing on natural biological materials. In this respect, rice husk (RH), an environmental waste containing elements C, N, S, and Si was used as a biotemplate to prepare TiO2 hierarchical microstructure photocatalyst (TiO2-HMP) along with TiO2 nanoparticle photocatalyst (TiO2-NP) by a facile sol-gel method. RH and the prepared TiO2 photocatalysts were characterized by using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), environmental scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (ESEM-EDAX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), photoluminescence (PL), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) methods. The combination of RH and TiO2 via biotemplate strategy not only altered the band gap (E-bg = 2.74 eV) also slightly increased the surface area (similar to 10%). The photocatalytic activities of TiO2-NP and TiO2-HMP specimens were determined by degradation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NPh) under UV-A light irradiation. TiO2-HMP exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity (>= 10%) compared to TiO2-NP most probably due to RH originated in-situ self-codoping by the presence of multidopant ions (C, N, S, and Si ions) as verified by EDAX elemental weight distribution profiles. These results demonstrated a beneficial use of an environmental waste in photocatalytic applications

    Preparation of pani modified zno composites via different methods: Structural, morphological and photocatalytic properties

    Polyaniline modified zinc oxide (PANI-ZnO) photocatalyst composites were synthesized by focusing on dissolution disadvantage of ZnO. In-situ chemical oxidation polymerization method was performed under neutral conditions (PANI-ES) whereas in hybridization method physical blending was applied using emeraldine base of polyaniline (PANI-EB). PANI-ZnO composites were prepared in various ratios of aniline (ANI) to ZnO as 1%, 3%, 6% and 9%. The alterations on the structural and morphological properties of PANI-ZnO composites were compared by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis Unit (SEM-EDAX) techniques. FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of PANI in all composites. SEM images revealed the morphological differences of PANI-ZnO composites based on PANI presence and preparation methods. Photocatalytic performances of PANI-ZnO specimens were investigated by following the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous medium under UVA irradiation. The effects of catalyst dose and initial dye concentration were also studied. MB degradation was followed by both decolorization extents and removal of aromatic fractions. PANI-ZnO composites expressed enhanced photocatalytic performance (~95% for both methods) as compared to sole ZnO (~87%). The hybridization method was found to be more efficient than the in-situ chemical oxidation polymerization method emphasizing the significance of the neutral medium. © 2021 by the authors.     Preparation of PANI modified TiO2 and characterization under pre- and post- photocatalytic conditions

    Polyaniline (PANI) is a promising conducting polymer for surface modification of TiO2 to overcome limitations of the use of visible light and attain increased photocatalytic efficiency for the removal of organic contaminants. In this study, a series of polyaniline modified TiO2 (PANI-TiO2) composites were prepared by using "in-situ" chemical oxidation polymerization method. The composites were systematically characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (equipped with an attenuated total reflection accessory, FTIR-ATR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDAX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), nitrogen (N2) physisorption (Brunauer − Emmett − Teller surface area (SBET) and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) pore size analysis), thermogravimetry-derivative thermogravimetry (TG-DTG) techniques. XRD patterns of PANI-TiO2 composites confirmed both the amorphous phase of PANI and the crystalline character of TiO2. TG/DTG analysis complemented the XRD profiles that the interactions between PANI and TiO2 resulted in a more stable PANI-TiO2 matrix. SEM images displayed the dominant morphology as dandelion-like shapes of PANI being more pronounced with increasing PANI ratios in PANI-TiO2 composites. UV-DRS profiles revealed that the band gap energies of the composites were lower than bare TiO2 expressing a shift to the visible light region. Both PL and UV-DRS analyses confirmed the band-gap reduction phenomenon of PANI modification of TiO2. The incorporation of PANI into TiO2 resulted in a reduction of the surface area of TiO2. The composites were subsequently subjected to photocatalytic activity assessment tests using humic acid (HA) as a model of refractory organic matter (RfOM) under simulated solar irradiation (Uyguner-Demirel et al. Environ Sci Pollut Res 30 85626-85638, 2023). The morphological and structural changes attained upon application of photocatalysis were also evaluated by FTIR-ATR, Raman spectroscopy, XRD, and SEM-EDAX methods in a comparable manner. The FTIR-ATR spectral features of PANI, RfOM and all composites displayed peaks with slight shifts under pre- and post- photocatalytic conditions as well as following dark surface interactions. Besides exhibiting noticeable photocatalytic performance, PANI-TiO2 composites were also proven to maintain stability under non-selective oxidation conditions in the presence of a complex organic matrix. The prepared PANI-TiO2 composites overcoming the limitations of UVA light active bare TiO2 photocatalysis could possibly find a beneficial use as potential catalysts in solar photocatalytic applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature

The Linearly Polarized (LP) modes of standard optical fibers have been affected by the side-polished geometry which breaking symmetry. At the side-polished area guided modes couple to non-symmetric modes and phase shift occurs due to the birefringent property of the SPOF. That kind of structure has an excellent usage potential as a portable optical sensor or optical fiber communication device. It was primarily concentrated on the LP modes of the standard optical fiber. LP mode field solutions extracted from Maxwell Equations were calculated with MATLAB, and mode intensity distributions were constructed accordingly. The calculated intensity distributions were utilized for figuring out the mode content of the outputs of the twomode experiment. The recorded CCD Camera images were matched with the calculated intensity distributions, and then the best-matched LP mode combination was selected as output mode content. In the single-mode experiment at the side-polished area, quasi-degenerate fundamental modes occur. According to the state of polarization of the modes, they suffer attenuation and phase shift in different levels. Therefore, after the side-polished area, degenerate fundamental modes propagate together with a particular phase difference. This situation composes elliptical polarization at the output. Various modal polarization rotation and phase shifts were observed, and then polarization ellipses were obtained with MATLAB. The resultant ellipses demonstrate that the effect of SPOF on guided modes varies with the angle of input polarization.Bu tezde, kenarı inceltilmiş optik fiberlerin (SPOF) polarizasyon ve faz özelliklerinin karakterize edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Standart optik fiberlerin Lineer Polarize (LP) modları, simetriyi bozan kenarı inceltilmiş geometriden etkilenir. Kenarı inceltilmiş bölgede, kılavuzlanan modlar anti-simetrik modlara kuple olurlar ve SPOF’un çift kırınım özelliğine bağlı olarak bunlar arasında faz kayması meydana gelir. Bu tür bir yapı taşınabilir optik sensör veya optik fiber haberleşme cihazı olarak kullanılabilmesi için büyük bir potansiyele sahiptir.
