Doppler findings in a rare Coronary Artery Fistula
One of the primary forms of congenital anomalies of the coronary arteries is coronary artery fistula (CAF). It is defined as a direct communication between the coronary artery and any surrounding cardiac chamber or vascular structure, which bypasses the myocardial capillary bed. We present a newborn baby with a large coronary artery fistula connecting the left anterior descending (LAD) artery to the left ventricular (LV) apex. Associated cardiac abnormalities were found: a ventricular septal defect (diameter 4 mm), a patent foramen ovale as well as trivial tricuspid and mitral regurgitation. Here we demonstrate the echocardiograms of an extremely rare form of CAF diagnosed within the first days of postnatal life
Coronary artery to left ventricle fistula
BACKGROUND: Coronary cameral fistulas are an uncommon entity, the etiology of which may be congenital or traumatic. They involve abnormal termination of a coronary artery, usually the right coronary, into a cardiac chamber, usually the right ventricle. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a case of female patient with severe aortic stenosis and interventricular septal hypertrophy that underwent bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement with concomitant septal myectomy. On subsequent follow-up an abnormal flow traversing the septum into the left ventricle was identified and Doppler interrogation demonstrated a continuous flow, with a predominantly diastolic component, consistent with coronary arterial flow. CONCLUSION: The literature on coronary cameral fistulas is reviewed and the etiology of the diagnostic findings discussed. In our patient, a coronary artery to left ventricle fistula was the most likely explanation secondary to trauma to the septal perforator artery during myectomy. Since the patient was asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis no intervention was recommended and has done well on follow-up
A bibliography of parasites and diseases of marine and freshwater fishes of India
With the increasing demand for fish as human food, aquaculture both in freshwater
and salt water is rapidly developing over the world. In the developing countries,
fishes are being raised as food. In many countries fish farming is a very important
economic activity. The most recent branch, mariculture, has shown advances in
raising fishes in brackish, estuarine and bay waters, in which marine, anadromous and
catadromous fishes have successfully been grown and maintained

Load transmission assembly for servo-hydraulic testing machine
This report describes the functional, design and fabrication aspects of the various components of the load transmission assembly for the 5-tonne servo-hydraulic fatigue testing machine with losed loop computer control, Some electronic components developed for controlling the machine have also beeri described
Parallelisation of NCMRWF Forecast Model on13; Flosolver Mk3
Weather Forecasting has made exacting demands on computational resources at any' point of time. The complexities are so enormous that such a calculation is beyond the reach of average computers. To get a feel for the requirements, it should suffice to say that the sustained speed of 100 MFLOPS will be termed moderate, Random Access Memory.(RAM) availability of 100 MBytes .will be called manageable13; and a disk storage of tens of GBytes will be considered marginal for an operational forecast. In the last decade, the technology of parallel computing has reached a stage of maturity and holds the promise of being an alternative to conventional supercomputing. To explore this alternative, on 23rd November 1992 a brain storming session on 'Future . Supercomputing Strategy for Medium Range Weather Forecastingquot; [1] was convened and the summary record described the consensus in the following words:13; quot; The consensus emerging from the session was that parallel processing systems have not yet become proven tools for operational medium 'range weather forecasting within the country or abroad. However. Ramp;D needs to be fostered within the country. It would therefore, be desirable to continue to provide support for this activity with which NCMRWF should be actively associated, but without hampering13; its goal of operational medium range weather forecastingquot
Influence of dialysis techniques and alternate vitamin supplementation on homocysteine levels in patients with known MTHFR genotypes
Treatment with folic acid and vitamin B12 appears capable of reducing total plasma homocysteine levels (tHcy), but it is unknown whether vitamin B12 alone reduces tHcy values. In this study we investigate the effects of alternate vitamins supplementation on homocysteine levels in patients treated by diffusive and convective dialysis techniques.Treatment with folic acid and vitamin B12 appears capable of reducing total plasma homocysteine levels (tHcy), but it is unknown whether vitamin B12 alone reduces tHcy values.
