Analyzing and testing viewability methods in an advertising network
Many of the current online businesses base completely their revenue models in earnings from online advertisement. A problematic fact is that according to recent studies more than half of display ads are not being detected as viewable. The International Advertising Bureau (IAB) has defined a viewable impression as an impression that at least 50% of its pixels are rendered in the viewport during at least one continuous second. Although there is agreement on this definition for measuring viewable impressions in the industry, there is no systematic methodologies on how it should be implemented or the trustworthiness of these methods. In fact, the Media Rating Council (MRC) announced that there are inconsistencies across multiple reports attempting to measure this metric. In order to understand the magnitude of the problem, we conduct an analysis of different methods to track viewable impressions. Then, we test a subset of geometric and strong interaction methods in a webpage registered in the worldwide ad-network ExoClick, which currently serves over 7 billion geo-targeted ads a day to a global network of 65000 web/mobile publisher platforms. We find that the Intersection Observer API is the method that detects more viewable impressions given its robustness towards the technological constraints that face the rest of implementations available. The motivation of this work is to better understand the limitations and advantages of such methods, which can have an impact at a standardisation level in online advertising industry, as well as to provide guidelines for future research based on the lessons learned. This work was possible thanks to the support of “Plan de Doctorados Industriales de la Secretaría de Universidades e Investigación del Departamento de Empresa y Conocimiento de la Generalitat de Catalunya” and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the Juan de la Cierva Formación program (FJCI-2017-34926). Integral measurement of the 12C(n, p)12B reaction up to 10 GeV
The integral measurement of the 12C(n, p)12B reaction was performed at the neutron time-offlight facility n TOF at CERN. The total number of 12B nuclei produced per neutron pulse of the n TOF
beam was determined using the activation technique in combination with a time-of-flight technique. The
cross section is integrated over the n TOF neutron energy spectrum from reaction threshold at 13.6 MeV
to 10 GeV. Having been measured up to 1 GeV on basis of the 235U(n, f) reaction, the neutron energy
spectrum above 200 MeV has been re-evaluated due to the recent extension of the cross section reference
for this particular reaction, which is otherwise considered a standard up to 200 MeV. The results from the
dedicated GEANT4 simulations have been used to evaluate the neutron flux from 1 GeV up to 10 GeV. The
experimental results related to the 12C(n, p)12B reaction are compared with the evaluated cross sections
from major libraries and with the predictions of different GEANT4 models, which mostly underestimate
the 12B production. On the contrary, a good reproduction of the integral cross section derived from measurements is obtained with TALYS-1.6 calculations, with optimized parameters.European Atomic Energy Communitys (Euratom) Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2011-CHANDA (No. 605203)Narodowe Centrum Nauki (NCN)-UMO-2012/04/M/ST2/00700Croatian Science Foundation-No. 168
Level densities of transitional Sm nuclei
Experimentally determined level densities of the transitional isotopes 148, 149, 150, 152Sm at excitation energies below and around the neutron binding energy are compared with microcanonical calculations based on a Monte Carlo approach to noncollective level densities, folded with a collective enhancement estimated in the frame of the interacting boson model (IBM). The IBM parameters are adjusted so as to reproduce the low-lying discrete levels of both parities, with the exception of the odd-mass nucleus, 149Sm, where complete decoupling of the unpaired neutron from the core is assumed

Crack constitutive model to simulate the behavior of fiber reinforced concrete structures failing in punching
For some structural applications, mainly with redundant supports, adding fibers
to concrete can be an economic strategy, especially when shear brittle failure mode has a
high risk of occurrence. In the present work, a crack constitutive model is proposed to
simulate localized failure modes due to punching. The performance of the developed
constitutive model was appraised by simulating the behavior observed in punching tests with
lightweight panel prototypes of steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC).
The values of the parameters required by fracture mode I of the SFRSCC were obtained by
inverse analysis.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) - projecto POCTI/ECM/57518/2004

Multi-fixed smeared 3d crack model to simulate the behavior of fiber reinforced concrete structures
When a concrete structure is subjected to a multi-stress state, different crack modes can be developed. To simulate with enough accuracy these fracture modes, a three dimensional model must be used. In the present work, a multi fixed smeared 3D crack model is proposed to predict the normal and shear failure modes of concrete structures. Softening stress strain diagrams are proposed to model, after crack initiation, the normal and shear components. The performance of the developed model was appraised by simulating the behavior observed in punching tests with lightweight panels of steel fiber reinforced self compacting concrete (SFRSCC).Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) - bolsa de doutoramento SFRH/BD/23326/2005, PABERPRO : Conception and implementation of production system of lightweight steel fibre reinforced self-compacting concrete panels” Program POCI 2010 – IDEIA, nº 13-05-04-FDR-00007, contrato ADI/2007/V4.1/0049
Numerical simulation of the nonlinear behavior of RC beams strengthened with NSM CFRP strips
This paper describes some experimental tests carried out in the context of the
evaluation of the bond behavior associated with NSM CFRP reinforcement. These results
were used in the numerical simulation of the material nonlinear behavior of RC beams
strengthened with NSM strips. For this purpose, an elasto-plastic multi-fixed smeared crack
model was developed and implemented in the FEMIX computer code. The obtained numerical
results are compared with those recorded in the experimental tests

Although this metric has been presented as a potential game-changer within the ad industry, it has not been fully adopted by the stakeholders, mainly due to disagreement between the different parties on the standards to implement and measure it, and its potential benefits and drawbacks. In this study, we present a survey of the role that viewability can have on the main challenges of the online advertising ecosystem depicting the main applications, benefits and issues. With this objective, we provide an overall picture of how viewability can fit within the ecosystem, which can help the different stakeholders to work on its adoption, integration and establishing a research agenda. This work was supported by the Plan de Doctorados Industriales de la Secretaría de Universidades e Investigación del Departamento de
