The world of retail payments has changed strongly in all countries over the last 2 years and much uncertainty about the future remains even today. There has been a remarkable increase in banknotes in circulation in Spain since the onset of the pandemic. We noticed an increase of demand for cash as store of value and a decrease demand for transactional purposes. At present, cumulative net banknote issuance has started to move slowly back towards pre-crisis figures, but is still well above its 2019 levels, standing at around €8.4 billion in 2021. Taking stock of how the crisis was managed, it is safe to say that both the Banco de España and the Eurosystem as a whole have demonstrated a high operational resilience to address supply and demand shocks such as the one brought about by the health crisis. Effects of Magnetic Nanoparticles on the Functional Activity of Human Monocytes and Dendritic Cells

The use of nanoparticles in medicine is sometimes hampered by their potential to activate immune cells, eliciting inflammation or allergy. We investigated whether magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) or biomimetic magnetic nanoparticles (BMNPs) affect relevant activities of human monocytes. We found that the nanoparticles neither elicited the production of pro-inflammatory mediators IL-6 and TNF by resting monocytes (when BMNP dose < 300 g/mL) nor enhanced their secretion induced by R848, a molecule engaging virus-recognizing receptors, or bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). MNPs and BMNPs neither induced the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nor affected the ROS production elicited by the NADPH oxidase activator phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) or the fungal derivative -glucan. BMNPs, but not MNPs, caused an up-regulation of the maturation markers CD80, CD83, and CD86 in immature monocyte-derived dendritic cells (DCs), whereas both nanoparticles did not affect the LPS-induced expression of these markers. Moreover, the nanoparticles were greedily ingested by monocytes and DCs without altering their viability. Therefore, these nanoparticles are candidates for medical applications because they do not activate pro-inflammatory activities of monocytes. Furthermore, their ability to stimulate DC maturation could be used for the design of vaccines. Digital divide between school and learning informal learning. A case study

“Escenarios, Tecnologías Digitales y Juventud en Andalucía” (HUM-02599), es el nombre del Proyecto de Investigación de Excelencia, que enmarca a esta aportación. El objetivo general de dicho proyecto, es la comprensión del uso de las tecnologías digitales y especialmente de Internet de adolescentes y jóvenes, así como las interacciones y prácticas que despliegan, desarrollan y generan en distintos escenarios socio-educativos. Esta comunicación se concreta en la selección de dos estudios de casos. La recogida de datos ha sido realizada a través de entrevistas narrativas a adolescentes, con el objetivo de conocer que medios y recursos TIC privilegian los adolescentes en su vida diaria ante la resolución de distintas situaciones-problemas cotidianas. Para el análisis cualitativo de la información, se ha utiliza el sofware científico Atlas.ti 5.0. Entre los resultados obtenidos destaca el uso de herramientas pertenecientes a la Web 2.0. por parte de los jóvenes, y la selección del móvil y del ordenador portátil como instrumentso tecnológicos más útiles, frente a otros medios, tales como, MP3s, iPad, cámaras digitales… Por otro lado, se desprende la necesidad de que las escuelas actuales incorporen el aprendizaje tecnológico que los estudiantes poseen en su quehacer diario, ya que se observa una brecha tecnológica entre aprendizaje tecnológico informal de uso en la vida diaria de los adolescentes y el aprendizaje formal de las escuelas

Educational networks: a reflection about current school

Actualmente, la escuela tiene la necesidad de incorporar el aprendizaje tecnológico que los estudiantes poseen en situaciones de enseñanza-aprendizaje formales. En palabras de Freire (2009: 2): “La educación, como proceso basado en conocimiento, comunicación e interacciones sociales se ha visto afectada de forma radical por la emergencia de la cultura digital que ha transformado a sus actores, profesores y estudiantes, provocando la necesidad de cambios en las propias instituciones educativas”. Como hemos podido corroborar en otras investigaciones (González y otros, 2011) este desfase entre aprendizaje tecnológico para la vida cotidiana y aprendizaje formal repercute en el rendimiento de nuestros estudiantes ocasionando situaciones de exclusión sobrevenidas. Es por ello que presentamos esta comunicación, para poner de manifiesto la importancia de que el profesorado participe en redes educativas donde se nutran de las experiencias y conocimientos de otros docentes y que a su vez incorporen estas TICs al día a día de sus aulas

Categorization proposals for school library webs evaluation

La presencia en internet de la biblioteca escolar debe ir acompañada de unos estándares de calidad en su estructura y su contenido, que hagan de la web de biblioteca escolar un recurso verdaderamente útil para un mejor cumplimiento de sus objetivos y funciones. Ante la inexistencia en la bibliografía especializada de instrumentos de análisis y evaluación específicos y actuales para webs de bibliotecas escolares, los autores de este artículo ofrecen dos modelos de categorización independientes pero basados en los mismos principios teóricos sobre análisis de sitios web y sobre contenidos de webs de bibliotecas escolares. Tanto el denominado Modelo 8-V o de las ocho variables, como el llamado Modelo 12-I o de los doce indicadores, pueden dar lugar a sendos instrumentos de análisis y evaluación que deberían ser usados siguiendo la misma metodología: el análisis de contenido, y la misma regla de recuento: la presencia en la web de los elementos incluidos en las categorías correspondientes. En el artículo se justifica la elección de cada una de las ocho variables y de los doce indicadores de sendos modelos.School library presence in Internet must be accompanied of some standards of quality in its structure and content, so the school library web can be a really useful resource for a better fulfillment of its aims and functions. Considering the nonexistence in the specialized bibliography of specific and current instruments for the school library webs analysis and evaluation, the authors of this article offer two independent models of categorization but based on the same theoretical propositions on web sites analysis and on school library webs contents. So much the called 8-V Model or of eight variables, as the called 12-I Model or of twelve indicators, both of them can give place to different analysis and evaluation instruments that should be used following the same methodology: the content analysis, and the same rule for inventory: the presence in the web of the elements included in the corresponding categories. Identification and Characterization of White Grape Varieties Autochthonous of aWarm Climate Region (Andalusia, Spain)

The high sensitivity of one of the most important crops in the world, such as vine (Vitis vinifera L.), to particular changes caused by the phenomena associated with global warming, is encouraging the wine industry to place value on grape varieties that are autochthonous to each production area. These are generally conserved in germplasm banks and may pose a useful tool to counteract the effects of climate change. In order to determine the actual resource that such varieties constitute, this research has carried out a genetic identification, a morphological characterization, and an analysis of the grape musts obtained from four autochthonous varieties (Cañocazo, Castellano, Mantúo de Pilas, and Palomino Fino). This genetic analysis has allowed the identification of autochthonous varieties with different genotypes. However, all of them had similar phenotypic characteristics in terms of high hair density in adult leaves. With respect to the physicochemical composition of the musts, significant differences have been observed between the autochthonous varieties, with respect to the control variety of Palomino Fino. Nevertheless, all of them have exhibited an adequate physicochemical composition to produce quality white wines. For all of the above reasons, these local varieties should be considered suitable for cultivation in areas with warmer and drier climates, such as Andalusia (Spain)

Evolución de un modelo de competición en una escuela de baloncesto formativo

En la iniciación del Baloncesto existen numerosas escuelas que plantean unos objetivos muy concretos para realizar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de los niños y niñas que lo practican. Dichos objetivos se centran fundamentalmente en fomentar no sólo el progreso eficaz de los jugadores y jugadoras en el área de Baloncesto. También centran su atención en la formación integral de los participantes a través de una minuciosa selección del profesorado, así como la aplicación de una metodología que permita a los niños y niñas desarrollar su capacidad de percepción y decisión, su actitud activa y reflexiva ante sus propios aprendizajes, su necesidad de fomentar determinados elementos educativos, relacionados con aspectos psicosociales, de salud y lúdicos. El sistema de competición de los jugadores y jugadoras que practican en este tipo de Escuelas de Baloncesto, adquiere una esencial importancia, considerándola como un medio para conseguir los fines perseguidos. Por este motivo, es preciso presentar un modelo de competición que garantice la formación integral de los niños y niñas que participan. La Escuela de Baloncesto de la Fundación Real Madrid plantea el sistema de competición utilizado y los aspectos más relevantes que han propiciado ciertas modificaciones a lo largo de su etapa desde su creación.In the initiation to Basketball, there are a great number of schools, which suggest particular objectives, in order to conduct the learning and teaching process for the children who practice it. Those aims are focused mainly on encouraging not only the efficient progress of the Basketball players. But also, they are centred on the integral formation of the participants throughout detailed selection of the faculty, as well as the application of a methodology that allows children to develop their capacity of perception and decision, their active and reflexive behaviour before their own learning, its need to promote certain educational elements, related to psychological, healthy and fun aspects. The competition system of the players who practice in this kind of Basketball schools, obtains an essential importance, being considered as a medium to achieve the pursued purposes. That’s why it is necessary to present a competition model, which ensures the integral formation of the participating children. The Real Madrid Foundation’s basketball school displays the competition system used, and the more relevant aspects that have contribute to certain modifications since its creation

Directives, legislation and promotion of school libraries in Andalusia

En este artículo se describen las principales directrices y legislación sobre biblioteca escolar vigentes en Andalucía y que han servido como punto de partida para promover estas bibliotecas en la comunidad andaluza. Además, se exponen las principales iniciativas de apoyo e impulso a la biblioteca escolar en Andalucía (Instituciones, encuentros y actividades de formación; Publicaciones periódicas; Planes, proyectos y redes; Recursos y herramientas) que juegan un papel protagonista en el desarrollo de estas instituciones.The main current directives and legislation on school library in Andalusia are described in this article, those that have served as starting point to promote these libraries in the Andalusian community.
