Thermal response of skin diseased tissue treated by plasmonic nanoantenna

    Get PDF
The thermal distribution in the diseased tissue treated by different methods faces the problem of an uncontrollable defused heat. In the present article, we use a plasmonic bowtie nanoantenna working in the near infrared region to enhance the temperature confinement in the tissue. The Computer Simulation Technology Studio Suite package version 2019 was used to execute the design of both plasmonic nanoantenna and the tissue. Gold nanostructure and silicon carbide dioxide are the components the plasmonic nanoantenna in the bowtie shape. The results showed that the distance between the tumor tissue and the antenna is important to determine the intensity field where the maximum field is 5.9*107 V/m at a distance of 100 nm. The maximum specific absorption rate is 1.92*1011 W/kg at a similar distance which gives a higher temperature in the tissue of 580 Co. It is concluded that from the obtained results that the near infrared (1064 nm) resonance wavelength is recommended in the treatment of cancer cell by plasmonic bowtie nanoantenna because higher intensity field is generated. The closer distance to the nanoantenna gives higher temperature in the tissue while the temperature gradually decreases in the tissue till 400 nm where no valuable temperature was detected

Diabetes can cause serious health complications including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, Symptoms of marked hyperglycemia include polyuria, polydipsia, and sometimes with polyphagia. Acute life-threatening consequences of uncontrolled diabetes are hyperglycemia with ketoacidosis. Long-term complications of diabetes include retinopathy with loss of vision; nephropathy leading to renal failure; peripheral neuropathy with risk of foot ulcers and ,Charcot joints; and cardiovascular symptoms and sexual dysfunction. Patients with diabetes have an increased incidence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular, peripheral arterial, cerebrovascular disease and Hypertension in people with diabetes

Plasmonic Optical Nano-Antenna for Biomedical Applications

Plasmonics attract significant attention of the researchers due to Plasmon’s surpassing ability to match free space electromagnetic (EM) excitation into the nano-scale size and conduct the light-tissue interaction in this scale. Plasmonic nano-antennas (PNAs) is a coupling of EM waves into Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) which is considered as an interesting subject for theoretical and experimental study. This presents a new concept of the confinement of light in subwavelength scales with huge local fields which can generate very high near field intensities because of their LSPR. The generated field is invested in various applications that are depending on near field enhancement produced by plasmonic optical nano-antennas (PONAs) such as Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), biosensing, spectral imaging and cancer treatment. Bowtie shape PNAs (PBNAs) can transfer the light field efficiently by converting the light from external space into a subwavelength spectral region with the improvement at an optical wavelength in a tiny area between its antenna arms. The local EM field production in a gap area is the main reason to suggest PBNAs shape if the frequency of the incident EM waves coincide the structural resonance peak so it is acting as a tunable hot spot

    Intellectual immunity in architecture

Architectural thought is defined as a final result of all principles and cognitive visions, which stored in human mind as a mental image, and reconfigured it to be fitting with all changes happened, that exposure the thought to all cognitive impurities (intellectual viruses), which may have a weakness and vulnerability. So immunity of thought protected it from such these impurities, when the research aims to enhance the immunity concept, and its levels of intellectual architectural process, while The research problem represented with a cognitive ambiguity of the immunity concept in the intellectual architectural process, that make the research follow an analytical method in two steps :theoretical one, is to define the concept of immunity, and the role of immunity levels in promote architectural output immunity. The research assumed is the immunity of designing productions increased when, the intellectual levels of the process (the design process) increase). Another step (practical step) is to analysis all Elective projects, leading to the immune architectural production, is a production which is compatible with the surrounding environment, whatever intellectual changes have taken place and acquired through that the continuity and longevit

Background: Maternal opioid exposure during pregnancy has various effects on neonatal health. Buprenorphine/naloxone and methadone are examples of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) used for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). Research comparing the impacts of these MOUD modalities on neonatal outcomes when used to treat pregnant people with OUD remains limited. We evaluated the differences in outcomes between neonates with in-utero exposure to buprenorphine/naloxone versus methadone. Methodology: We performed a retrospective cohort chart review between October 15, 2008, and October 15, 2019, evaluating mother/neonate dyads at two medical centers in Michigan. The charts of female patients, aged 18+, with OUD and buprenorphine/naloxone or methadone treatment, were examined. The charts of the corresponding neonates were also examined. Multiple regression analysis was performed. Results: In total, 343 mother/infant dyads were included: 99 patients were treated with buprenorphine/naloxone and 232 patients were treated with methadone. The buprenorphine/naloxone group had significant differences in maternal age, hepatitis status, asthma, gestational age in weeks, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) length of stay (LOS), neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) peak score, birth head circumference, and birth weight compared to the methadone group at baseline. Adjusted multivariable regression analysis demonstrated neonates with exposure to buprenorphine/naloxone had a NOWS peak score 3.079 points less (95% confidence interval (CI): -4.525, 1.633; p = 0.001) and NICU LOS 8.955 days less (95% CI: -14.399, -3.511; p = 0.001) than neonates exposed to methadone. Conclusions: Neonates with in-utero exposure to buprenorphine/naloxone had significantly lower NOWS scores and shorter NICU LOS compared to neonates with in-utero exposure to methadone. These findings demonstrate that buprenorphine/naloxone is potentially a more favorable treatment for the reduction in metrics representing adverse neonatal outcomes in pregnant people with OUD than methadone
