An embedding theorem for regular Mal'tsev categories

In this paper, we obtain a non-abelian analogue of Lubkin's embedding theorem for abelian categories. Our theorem faithfully embeds any small regular Mal'tsev category $\mathbb{C}$ in an $n$-th power of a particular locally finitely presentable regular Mal'tsev category. The embedding preserves and reflects finite limits, isomorphisms and regular epimorphisms, as in the case of Barr's embedding theorem for regular categories. Furthermore, we show that we can take $n$ to be the (cardinal) number of subobjects of the terminal object in $\mathbb{C}$

Mixed models for longitudinal left-censored repeated measures

Longitudinal studies could be complicated by left-censored repeated measures. For example, in Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection, there is a detection limit of the assay used to quantify the plasma viral load. Simple imputation of the limit of the detection or of half of this limit for left-censored measures biases estimations and their standard errors. In this paper, we review two likelihood-based methods proposed to handle left-censoring of the outcome in linear mixed model. We show how to fit these models using SAS Proc NLMIXED and we compare this tool with other programs. Indications and limitations of the programs are discussed and an example in the field of HIV infection is shown

La gouvernance et le financement de l’enseignement supérieur: une approche microéconomique

Cet article examine le fonctionnement de l’enseignement supérieur via une approche microéconomique. Il offre une synthèse des travaux menés lors de ma thèse de doctorat qui s’intéresse aux problèmes de financement et de gouvernance auxquels font face les établissements de ce secteur. Premièrement, le lien entre le financement public du secteur et l’émergence de certains types d’institution est étudié. Ensuite, un modèle mettant en exergue le rôle de la composition du conseil d’administration est présenté. La dernière partie porte sur les conséquences d’une dérégulation des frais d’inscription. En conclusion, quelques aspects de l’enseignement supérieur en Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles sont présentés à la lumière des différents points abordés
