Origin, evolution and present status in Spanish Alano dog
There exist several hypothesis about the origin of the Spanish Alano dog breed, but the most solid is the procedure from central Europe around the Vth century and another that locate their origin in the arrival of the Phoenicians to Spain in older times. Possibly, Alano was the most important Spanish breed from the mid-age to the end of the XIXth century, when they were used as a fighting dog, hunter dog and cattleherd dog. In the XXth century his breed was near the extinction. Presently a programme of recuperation and conservation is under development.
Semilocal convergence by using recurrence relations for fifth-order method in Banach spaces
In this paper, a semilocal convergence result in Banach spaces of an efficient fifth-order method is analyzed. Recurrence relations are used in order to prove this convergence, and some a priori error bounds are found. This scheme is finally used to estimate the solution of an integral equation and so, the theoretical results are numerically checked. We use this example to show the better efficiency of the current method compared with other existing ones, including Newton's scheme. This research was supported by Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnologia MTM2011-28636-C02-{01,02}.Cordero Barbero, A.; Hernandez-Veron, MA.; Romero, N.; Torregrosa Sánchez, JR. Surgical anatomy and technique for the treatment of Dubberley type 1, 2 and 3 capitellar fractures via a limited anterior approach to the elbow
Coronal plane fractures of the elbow can affect the capitellum, the trochlea (or a combination of the two), the radial head and the coronoid processes. The Kocher lateral approach is the most commonly used for open reduction of this type of fractures, although an arthroscopic technique has been used in some cases. When the fracture extends to the trochlea, the Kocher lateral approach may be inadequate for the correct visualisation, reduction and fixation of the fracture. In such cases an associated medial elbow approach may be required, or a posterior transolecranon approach may be preferred. We think that the limited anterior approach to the elbow could be a valid option when treating these types of fractures, as it does not involve the de-insertion of any muscle group or ligament, thereby facilitating the recovery process. In cases involving trochlear fracture (which may or may not be dissociated) the approach can be extended medially. We can also treat associated injuries such as fractures of the radial head or coronoid process with this approach. In the present study we describe the dissection of the medial and lateral cubital fossa of the elbow in extension in 4 specimens, paying attention to the neurovascular structures of the area. We also describe the surgical technique for the limited approach to the medial and lateral cubital fossa. We demonstrate the accessibility via the cubital fossa to the capitellum, trochlea, radial head, and coronoid process
Study of the effect of different hole sizes on mechanical strength of wafers for back contact solar cells
Drilling process on wafers to produce EWT or MWT solar cells is a critical fabrication step, which affects on their mechanical stability. The amount of damage introduced during drilling process depends on the density of holes, their size and the chemical process applied afterwards. To quantify the relation between size of the holes and reduction of mechanical strength, several sets of wafers have been prepared, with different hole diameter. The mechanical strength of these sets has been measured by the ring on ring bending test, and the stress state in the moment of failure has been deduced by FE simulation
[EN] This article shows the applicability of ground penetrating radar (GPR) to archaeological investigations, with the aid of a software that allows increasing the resolution of the measurements. This software has been applied for the first time in Baelo Claud in order to obtain information about city´s decumanus and the crossing with cardines minores Furthermore, the developed tools has also been used to locate in Málaga and Puerto Real (Cádiz) common graves where the remains of about 2,600 victims of the Spanish Civil War rest and the repression that came before and after the civil conflict.Guzmán Navarro, F.; Meco Gutiérrez, M.; Heredia Larrubia, J.; Pérez Hidalgo, F.
