Authorship Attribution Using a Neural Network Language Model

In practice, training language models for individual authors is often expensive because of limited data resources. In such cases, Neural Network Language Models (NNLMs), generally outperform the traditional non-parametric N-gram models. Here we investigate the performance of a feed-forward NNLM on an authorship attribution problem, with moderate author set size and relatively limited data. We also consider how the text topics impact performance. Compared with a well-constructed N-gram baseline method with Kneser-Ney smoothing, the proposed method achieves nearly 2:5% reduction in perplexity and increases author classification accuracy by 3:43% on average, given as few as 5 test sentences. The performance is very competitive with the state of the art in terms of accuracy and demand on test data. The source code, preprocessed datasets, a detailed description of the methodology and results are available at https://github.com/zge/authorship-attribution.Comment: Proceedings of the 30th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI'16

Variational formulas of higher order mean curvatures

In this paper, we establish the first variational formula and its Euler-Lagrange equation for the total 2p2p-th mean curvature functional M2p\mathcal {M}_{2p} of a submanifold MnM^n in a general Riemannian manifold Nn+mN^{n+m} for p=0,1,...,[n2]p=0,1,...,[\frac{n}{2}]. As an example, we prove that closed complex submanifolds in complex projective spaces are critical points of the functional M2p\mathcal {M}_{2p}, called relatively 2p2p-minimal submanifolds, for all pp. At last, we discuss the relations between relatively 2p2p-minimal submanifolds and austere submanifolds in real space forms, as well as a special variational problem.Comment: 13 pages, to appear in SCIENCE CHINA Mathematics 201

Effects of Capping on the (Ga,Mn)As Magnetic Depth Profile

Annealing can increase the Curie temperature and net magnetization in uncapped (Ga,Mn)As films, effects that are suppressed when the films are capped with GaAs. Previous polarized neutron reflectometry (PNR) studies of uncapped (Ga,Mn)As revealed a pronounced magnetization gradient that was reduced after annealing. We have extended this study to (Ga,Mn)As capped with GaAs. We observe no increase in Curie temperature or net magnetization upon annealing. Furthermore, PNR measurements indicate that annealing produces minimal differences in the depth-dependent magnetization, as both as-grown and annealed films feature a significant magnetization gradient. These results suggest that the GaAs cap inhibits redistribution of interstitial Mn impurities during annealing.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Applied Physics Letter

    p-species integrable reaction-diffusion processes

We consider a process in which there are p-species of particles, i.e. A_1,A_2,...,A_p, on an infinite one-dimensional lattice. Each particle AiA_i can diffuse to its right neighboring site with rate DiD_i, if this site is not already occupied. Also they have the exchange interaction A_j+A_i --> A_i+A_j with rate rij.r_{ij}. We study the range of parameters (interactions) for which the model is integrable. The wavefunctions of this multi--parameter family of integrable models are found. We also extend the 2--species model to the case in which the particles are able to diffuse to their right or left neighboring sites.Comment: 16 pages, LaTe

Spin photocurrent, its spectra dependence, and current-induced spin polarization in an InGaAs/InAlAs two-dimensional electron gas

Converse effect of spin photocurrent and current induced spin polarization are experimentally demonstrated in the same two-dimensional electron gas system with Rashba spin splitting. Their consistency with the strength of the Rashba coupling as measured from beating of the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations reveals a unified picture for the spin photocurrent, current-induced spin polarization and spin orbit coupling. In addition, the observed spectral inversion of the spin photocurrent indicates the system with dominating structure inversion asymmetry.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure
