BiOX (X = Cl, Br, I) photocatalysts prepared using NaBiO 3 as the Bi source: Characterization and catalytic performance
The Bismuth oxyhalides, crystalline BiOX (X = Cl, Br, I) were prepared via a facile method, using NaBiO 3 and HX aqueous solutions as the raw materials for the first time. The systematic microstructure and optical property characterizations of the BiOX photocatalysts demonstrated the reliability of this new and facile preparation approach. The photocatalytic activity on the degradation of typical phenolic endocrine disrupting chemicals over BiOX and P25 were evaluated under Xenon-light irradiation and the initial photocatalytic mechanism was discussed based on the band edge potential analysis. © 2009.postprin
Design and application of pulse information acquisition and analysis system with dynamic recognition in traditional Chinese medicine
Background: To design the pulse information which includes the parameter of pulse-position, pulse-number, pulse-shape and pulse-force acquisition and analysis system with function of dynamic recognition, and research the digitalization and visualization of some common cardiovascular mechanism of single pulse.Methods: To use some flexible sensors to catch the radial artery pressure pulse wave and utilize the high frequency B mode ultrasound scanning technology to synchronously obtain the information of radial extension and axial movement, by the way of dynamic images, then the gathered information was analyzed and processed together with ECG. Finally, the pulse information acquisition and analysis system was established which has the features of visualization and dynamic recognition, and it was applied to serve for ten healthy adults.Results: The new system overcome the disadvantage of one-dimensional pulse information acquisition and process method which was common used in current research area of pulse diagnosis in traditional Chinese Medicine, initiated a new way of pulse diagnosis which has the new features of dynamic recognition, two-dimensional information acquisition, multiplex signals combination and deep data mining.Conclusions: The newly developed system could translate the pulse signals into digital, visual and measurable motion information of vessel.Keywords: Visualized pulse information; Radial artery; B mode ultrasound; Traditional Chinese Medicin
Soil properties drive a negative correlation between species diversity and genetic diversity in a tropical seasonal rainforest
A negative species-genetic diversity correlation (SGDC) could be predicted by the niche variation hypothesis, whereby an increase in species diversity within community reduces the genetic diversity of the co-occurring species because of the reduction in average niche breadth; alternatively, competition could reduce effective population size and therefore genetic diversity of the species within community. We tested these predictions within a 20 ha tropical forest dynamics plot (FDP) in the Xishuangbanna tropical seasonal rainforest. We established 15 plots within the FDP and investigated the soil properties, tree diversity, and genetic diversity of a common tree species Beilschmiedia roxburghiana within each plot. We observed a significant negative correlation between tree diversity and the genetic diversity of B. roxburghiana within the communities. Using structural equation modeling, we further determined that the inter-plot environmental characteristics (soil pH and phosphorus availability) directly affected tree diversity and that the tree diversity within the community determined the genetic diversity of B. roxburghiana. Increased soil pH and phosphorus availability might promote the coexistence of more tree species within community and reduce genetic diversity of B. roxburghiana for the reduced average niche breadth; alternatively, competition could reduce effective population size and therefore genetic diversity of B. roxburghiana within community

Notch Signaling Activation Promotes Seizure Activity in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
Notch signaling in the nervous system is often regarded as a developmental pathway. However, recent studies have suggested that Notch is associated with neuronal discharges. Here, focusing on temporal lobe epilepsy, we found that Notch signaling was activated in the kainic acid (KA)-induced epilepsy model and in human epileptogenic tissues. Using an acute model of seizures, we showed that DAPT, an inhibitor of Notch, inhibited ictal activity. In contrast, pretreatment with exogenous Jagged1 to elevate Notch signaling before KA application had proconvulsant effects. In vivo, we demonstrated that the impacts of activated Notch signaling on seizures can in part be attributed to the regulatory role of Notch signaling on excitatory synaptic activity in CA1 pyramidal neurons. In vitro, we found that DAPT treatment impaired synaptic vesicle endocytosis in cultured hippocampal neurons. Taken together, our findings suggest a correlation between aberrant Notch signaling and epileptic seizures. Notch signaling is up-regulated in response to seizure activity, and its activation further promotes neuronal excitation of CA1 pyramidal neurons in acute seizures

Statistical properties of the transmittance () and reflectance () of an
amplifying layer with one-dimensional disorder are investigated analytically.
Whereas the transmittance at typical realizations decreases exponentially with
the layer thickness just as it does in absorbing media, the average
and \ are shown to
be infinite even for finite due to the contribution of low-probable
resonant realizations corresponding to the non-Gaussian tail of the
distribution of . This tail differs drastically from that in the case of
absorption. The physical meaning of typical and resonant realizations is

Localization of Light: Dual Symmetry between Absorption and Amplification
We study the propagation of radiation through a disordered waveguide with a
complex dielectric constant , and show that dual systems, which
differ only in the sign of the imaginary part of , have the same
localization length. Paradoxically, absorption and stimulated emission of

LLRF AND DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEMS FOR SPOKE012 CAVITY VERTICAL TEST AT IHEP*
Abstract Development of two Spoke012 cavities and their vertical tests have been completed successfully at IHEP (Institute of High Energy Physics) with a LLRF system and DAQ (data acquisition) system specially designed. The LLRF system is developed on the basis of the proven analog system used for the test of the BEPCII 500 MHz spare cavity. The Labview2009-based DAQ system is in charge of the communications of the measuring instruments, the local machine and the remote one. It realizes the real-time display of Q 0~Eacc and radiation dose curve for the first time at IHEP. The data connection between Labview and EPICS is implemented. The vertical test result shows that the LLRF and the DAQ system perform stably and reliably as expected.
