Investigations of vegetation and soils information contained in LANDSAT Thematic Mapper and Multispectral Scanner data
An extension of the TM tasseled cap transformation to reflectance factor data is presented, and the basic concepts underlying the tasseled cap transformations are described. The ratio of TM bands 5 and 7, and TM tasseled cap wetness, are both shown to offer promise of direct detection of available soil moisture. Some effects of organic matter and other soil characteristics or constituents on TM tasseled cap spectral response are also considered

A 32-GHz phased array transmit feed for spacecraft telecommunications
A 21-element phased array transmit feed was demonstrated as part of an effort to develop and evaluate state-of-the-art transmitter and receiver components at 32 and 34 GHz for future deep-space missions. Antenna pattern measurements demonstrating electronic beam steering of the two-dimensional array are reported and compared with predictions based on measured performance of MMIC-based phase shifter and amplifier modules and Vivaldi slotline radiating elements
Wood and Paper Properties of Vacuum Airlift Segregated Juvenile Poplar Whole-Tree Chips
Whole-tree chips from a hybrid poplar clone (Populus 'Tristis #1') grown under short rotation, intensive culture (SRIC) were separated into three fractions using vacuum airlift segregation (VAS). The fractions were: accepts, which was predominantly a woody fraction; rejects, which contained less wood and more bark and twigs; and fines, which consisted mostly of bark particles. The raw material quality was evaluated and kraft pulp and paper properties were determined on the whole-tree chips and each VAS fraction as well as on a 50:50 mixture of the accepts: rejects fractions. A 50:50 mixture of VAS accepts and 55-yr-old mill-run jack pine was also studied. Pulp and paper properties of the whole-tree chips, the VAS accepts and rejects, and a 50:50 mixture of accepts:rejects were similar and were only slightly lower in quality than those of mature aspen chips. The 50:50 mixture of VAS accepts and mill-run jack pine was acceptable by industrial standards. These results suggest that whole-tree chips from SRIC poplar stands can be mixed with conifer chips to supplement furnishes for kraft pulping

Dynamics and morphology of hole growth in a film of power hardening
viscoplastic solid (yield stress ~ [strain-rate]^n) is investigated. At
short-times the growth is exponential and depends on the initial hole size. At
long-times, for n > 1/3, the growth is exponential with a different exponent.
However, for n < 1/3, the hole growth slows; the hole radius approaches an
asymptotic value as time tends to infinity. The rim shape is highly asymmetric,
the height of which has a power law dependence on the hole radius (exponent
close to unity for 0.25 < n < 0.4). The above results explain recent intriguing

Outcomes from an Entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctoral Practice-Scholar Apprenticeship Program
The introduction of the occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) program to the field of occupational therapy (OT) education was intended to advance the field by developing future leaders, increasing advanced practice, and promoting scholarship in practice. Limited information to date is available regarding outcomes of the OTD program related to the future research potential of graduates. One such approach to promoting the scholarship of practice among OTD graduates is the use of the practice-scholar model. The practice-scholar model is designed to build research skills among OTD students to encourage their ongoing commitment to evidence-based practice through implementing their own research in practice. Founded in 2014, the Northern Arizona University (NAU) entry-level OTD program has implemented the practice-scholar model through their practice-scholar apprenticeship (PSA) program. The NAU PSA program involves a mentorship experience with OTD students engaging in faculty and/or community clinician led research. The purpose of this paper is to share evaluation results of the NAU PSA program related to the research development among the program’s graduates. NAU OTD students completed pre and post surveys regarding their expectations towards research and a post qualitative feedback session. Students reported statistically significant improvements in their research self-efficacy skills. Qualitatively students identified their developed research skills, the importance of research and their desire to continue implementing research in the future. The field of OT should continue to identify structural ways to support research in practice to realize the potential of future OTD practitioners
