Exponential decay for the damped wave equation in unbounded domains
We study the decay of the semigroup generated by the damped wave equation in
an unbounded domain. We first prove under the natural geometric control
condition the exponential decay of the semigroup. Then we prove under a weaker
condition the logarithmic decay of the solutions (assuming that the initial
data are smoother). As corollaries, we obtain several extensions of previous
results of stabilisation and control
Resolvent estimates for normally hyperbolic trapped sets
We give pole free strips and estimates for resolvents of semiclassical
operators which, on the level of the classical flow, have normally hyperbolic
smooth trapped sets of codimension two in phase space. Such trapped sets are
structurally stable and our motivation comes partly from considering the wave
equation for Kerr black holes and their perturbations, whose trapped sets have
precisely this structure. We give applications including local smoothing
effects with epsilon derivative loss for the Schr\"odinger propagator as well
as local energy decay results for the wave equation.Comment: Further changes to erratum correcting small problems with Section 3.5
and Lemma 4.1; this now also corrects hypotheses, explicitly requiring
trapped set to be symplectic. Erratum follows references in this versio
Bounds on the growth of high Sobolev norms of solutions to 2D Hartree Equations
In this paper, we consider Hartree-type equations on the two-dimensional
torus and on the plane. We prove polynomial bounds on the growth of high
Sobolev norms of solutions to these equations. The proofs of our results are
based on the adaptation to two dimensions of the techniques we previously used
to study analogous problems on , and on .Comment: 38 page
Semiclassical measures and the Schroedinger flow on Riemannian manifolds
In this article we study limits of Wigner distributions (the so-called
semiclassical measures) corresponding to sequences of solutions to the
semiclassical Schroedinger equation at times scales tending to
infinity as the semiclassical parameter tends to zero (when this is equivalent to consider solutions to the non-semiclassical
Schreodinger equation). Some general results are presented, among which a weak
version of Egorov's theorem that holds in this setting. A complete
characterization is given for the Euclidean space and Zoll manifolds (that is,
manifolds with periodic geodesic flow) via averaging formulae relating the
semiclassical measures corresponding to the evolution to those of the initial
states. The case of the flat torus is also addressed; it is shown that
non-classical behavior may occur when energy concentrates on resonant
frequencies. Moreover, we present an example showing that the semiclassical
measures associated to a sequence of states no longer determines those of their
evolutions. Finally, some results concerning the equation with a potential are
presented.Comment: 18 pages; Theorems 1,2 extendend to deal with arbitrary time-scales;

Nondispersive solutions to the L2-critical half-wave equation
We consider the focusing -critical half-wave equation in one space
dimension where denotes the
first-order fractional derivative. Standard arguments show that there is a
critical threshold such that all solutions with extend globally in time, while solutions with may develop singularities in finite time.
In this paper, we first prove the existence of a family of traveling waves
with subcritical arbitrarily small mass. We then give a second example of
nondispersive dynamics and show the existence of finite-time blowup solutions
with minimal mass . More precisely, we construct a
family of minimal mass blowup solutions that are parametrized by the energy
and the linear momentum . In particular, our main result
(and its proof) can be seen as a model scenario of minimal mass blowup for
-critical nonlinear PDE with nonlocal dispersion.Comment: 51 page
Hadronic sizes and observables in high-energy scattering
The functional dependence of the high-energy observables of total cross
section and slope parameter on the sizes of the colliding hadrons predicted by
the model of the stochastic vacuum and the corresponding relations used in the
geometric model of Povh and H\"ufner are confronted with the experimental data.
The existence of a universal term in the expression for the slope, due purely
to vacuum effects, independent of the energy and of the particular hadronic
system, is investigated. Accounting for the two independent correlation
functions of the QCD vacuum, we improve the simple and consistent description
given by the model of the stochastic vacuum to the high-energy pp and pbar-p
data, with a new determination of parameters of non-perturbative QCD. The
increase of the hadronic radii with the energy accounts for the energy
dependence of the observables.Comment: Latex, using Revtex.style . 2 ps figures. To be published in Physical

Strichartz estimates on Schwarzschild black hole backgrounds
We study dispersive properties for the wave equation in the Schwarzschild
space-time. The first result we obtain is a local energy estimate. This is then
used, following the spirit of earlier work of Metcalfe-Tataru, in order to
establish global-in-time Strichartz estimates. A considerable part of the paper
is devoted to a precise analysis of solutions near the trapping region, namely
the photon sphere.Comment: 44 pages; typos fixed, minor modifications in several place
Delocalization of slowly damped eigenmodes on Anosov manifolds
We look at the properties of high frequency eigenmodes for the damped wave
equation on a compact manifold with an Anosov geodesic flow. We study
eigenmodes with spectral parameters which are asymptotically close enough to
the real axis. We prove that such modes cannot be completely localized on
subsets satisfying a condition of negative topological pressure. As an
application, one can deduce the existence of a "strip" of logarithmic size
without eigenvalues below the real axis under this dynamical assumption on the
set of undamped trajectories.Comment: 28 pages; compared with version 1, minor modifications, add two

The Wave Function of 2S Radially Excited Vector Mesons from Data for Diffraction Slope
In the color dipole gBFKL dynamics we predict a strikingly different Q^2 and
energy dependence of the diffraction slope for the elastic production of ground
state V(1S) and radially excited V'(2S) light vector mesons. The color dipole
model predictions for the diffraction slope for \rho^0 and \phi^0 production
are in a good agreement with the data from the fixed target and collider HERA
experiments. We present how a different form of anomalous energy and Q^2
dependence of the diffraction slope for V'(2S) production leads to a different
position of the node in radial wave function and discuss a possibility how to
determine this position from the fixed target and HERA data.Comment: 20 pages and 6 figures. Title change
A pedestrian approach to the invariant Gibbs measures for the 2-d defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations
42 pagesInternational audienceWe consider the defocusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations on the two-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold without boundary or a bounded domain in . Our aim is to give a pedagogic and self-contained presentation on the Wick renormalization in terms of the Hermite polynomials and the Laguerre polynomials and construct the Gibbs measures corresponding to the Wick ordered Hamiltonian. Then, we construct global-in-time solutions with initial data distributed according to the Gibbs measure and show that the law of the random solutions, at any time, is again given by the Gibbs measure
