Socio-emotional competencies play an essential role in personal development as they are associated with highly prosocial behavior and low aggressiveness. An individual who is online manages his/her emotions in a specific manner. Thus, it is highly relevant to analyze and evaluate online socio-emotional competencies. Until now, however, no instruments had been defined or developed for that purpose. This study’s objective was thus to design and validate a questionnaire for the evaluation of socio-emotional competencies in virtual contexts, and to analyze eventual differences according to gender and academic year. Using the model developed by Bisquerra and Pérez (2007) as a theoretical framework, the competencies posited therein were transferred to an online environment. The questionnaire was filled out by 888 adolescents ages 12 to 17 (48% males, M = 13.83 years old, DT = 1.27), all residents of Aragón, Spain. On the basis of their responses, structure analysis, validation, and reliability were carried out. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) yielded a five-dimensional structure with good fit and internal consistency. The five resulting dimensions evaluate (1) emotional e-conscience, (2) emotional e-autonomy, (3) emotional e-regulation, (4) e-self-control of impulsiveness, and (5) social e-competency. Differences among genders were observed in the categories of emotional e-conscience and social e-competency. Furthermore, the results of this study show that online emotional expression does not imply emotional competency. These results represent an advance in the field of emotional education. © 2022 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland

Axial exchange currents and nucleon spin

    Get PDF
We calculate the hypercharge and flavor singlet axial couplings related to the spin of the nucleon in a constituent quark model. In addition to the standard one-body axial currents, the model includes two-body axial exchange currents. The latter are necessary to satisfy the Partial Conservation of Axial Current (PCAC) condition. For both axial couplings we find significant corrections to the standard quark model prediction. Exchange currents reduce the valence quark contribution to the nucleon spin and afford an interpretation of the missing nucleon spin as orbital angular momentum carried by nonvalence quark degrees of freedom.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figur

This paper presents the mechanical performance and durability of concrete with water/cement (w/c) ratios of 0.30 and 0.60 containing cactus mucilage and brown marine seaweed extract solutions (at 0.5° Brix concentrations). Cylindrical specimens (100 mm x 200 mm) were cast and moist-cured for 0 and 28 days. Compressive strength, rapid chloride permeability, and chloride diffusion tests were conducted to evaluate all of the concrete mixes at the ages of 60 and 120 days. In addition, accelerated carbonation tests were carried out on specimens at the age of 180 days by exposure to 23 °C, 60% RH and at 4.4% CO2 for 120 days. The compressive strength results showed that only one concrete mix with admixtures increased in strength compared to the control. Regarding the rapid chloride permeability, chloride diffusion and carbonation, the results indicated that the durability of concretes containing organic additions was enhanced compared to the control.

Fractures of the tibial plateau. Influence of the type of fracture and precision of the articular reduction on the prognosis

Improvement of a functional method to determine the design thermal transmittance of building façades. Implementation in southern Spain

    Get PDF
The thermo-hygrometric conditions to which construction materials are subjected cause their thermal performance to vary by location. These variations must be characterised in order to design building envelopes adjusted to the requirements of each situation, thus contributing to improve their energy efficiency under actual operating conditions. To this end, a functional calculation procedure that corrects the standardised thermal conductivity values of façade materials (¿-value) has been recently proposed; which considers the climatic characteristics of each location. This work proposes and validates improvements that, while preserving its functionality, overcome some limitations of the original procedure. To calculate more accurate corrections, the façade configuration and the climatic zones established by the building codes are also considered, allowing a more reliable characterisation of the design thermal transmittance of each building façade. By using climatic records gathered from 316 weather stations, a detailed isopleth map is also developed to present the applicable corrections for more than 250, 000 km2 of southern Spain. The largest ¿-value corrections are identified on the southeast coast and reach up to +6% in the summer months (with average annual corrections above +4%). This improved procedure can be extrapolated to any national building code that establishes constant values of thermal conductivity for façade materials and that defines thermal design requirements based on climatic zones

Internet abuse has become a social problem in adolescence. Previous research suggested that it is related to the gratifications they receive from using it. However, it is unknown whether continued responsible use (netiquette) and family supervision can balance the rewards that promote this risk. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the extent to which gratifications, family supervision and responsible use predict Internet abuse and thereby better understand this risk in adolescence so that teachers and families can establish strategies for its prevention according to the gender and age. 555 adolescents (55.7% boys) from 1st to 4th year of ESO (M: 13. 97 years old and SD: 1.27) participated in the study. The data were obtained through questionnaires. The results reveal that, although mainly entertainment in boys and avoidance in girls promote abuse, educating netiquette is an important protection factor for both genders and all ages, as well as family supervision in girls and boys. in adolescents 12-13 years old. Educational and family implications are discussed

On providing mobility management in WOBANs: Integration with PMIPv6 and MIH

The Wireless-Optical Broadband Access Network (WOBAN) is a promising access architecture that combines the high performance of optical networks with the ubiquity and convenience of wireless technologies. This article proposes a network-based mobility framework that is specially tailored for WOBANs. The proposed architecture is based on Proxy Mobile IPv6 and IEEE 802.21 mobility management protocols, but it also defines a number of optimizations that enable the seamless handover of mobile nodes. In particular, the hierarchical architecture together with the broadcast-and-select nature of the optical part of the WOBAN are leveraged to: optimize the mobility of users with respect to the overall network resources, both at the wireless access and optical distribution parts, remove the overhead of IP-in-IP tunneling between the PMIPv6 entities, and perform an efficient bicasting during the handover process to minimize packet loss. The authors would like to acknowledge the support of the EU-funded MEDIEVAL (grant FP7-ICT-2009-5/258053), the CAM-funded Medianet project (under code S-2009/TIC-1468) and the MICINN research grant TIN2010-20136-C03.European Community's Seventh Framework ProgramPublicad
