THE EVOLUTION OF ROMANIA'S LABOR MARKET, DURING THE LAST 20 YEARS
In this paper, the authors will try to analyze the evolution of Romania's labor market, in the last nearly 22 years. More precisely, we will analyze the evolution of the number of employees, the number of pensioners, and the number of unemployed workers, in the mentioned period of time, and we will draw some conclusions. We consider that the dynamic of the labor market is an important indicator, showing both the economic situation, as well as its future evolution; this is why we have chosen to focus our study on it. In order to do so, using the data published by the National Institute for Statistics, and the National Agency for Labor Force Employment, we have noticed worrying evolutions for Romania's labor market: a decrease in the number of employees, an increase in the number of unemployed workers and pensioners, as well as an increase in the number of those who, although able to work, do not have and do not officially look for a workplace. In fact, this is a limit of our research, because those persons either work (abroad, or on the "black" market), either do look for a workplace, but are not registered as unemployed workers. Another limit of our research is related to the insufficient explanations related to the evolution of the different indicators. But our purpose was to offer an overview of the labor market for the last nearly 22 years, and to suggest some measures to be taken in the future. In order to do that, we have analyzed the evolution of the number of employees, the percentage of employees in the population able to work, the evolution of the number of unemployed workers, the evolution of the number of pensioners. Also, we have made a comparative analysis of the evolution of the number of employees and of the number of pensioners. Through this paper, we have tried to draw attention upon the worrying phenomena taking place on Romania's labor market, as well as upon the fact that our country should take urgent measures in order to increase the number of employees in the economy.labor market, employees, pensioners, unemployed workers, Romania
Religion, popular culture and social media: the construction of a religious leader image on Facebook
Despite the emergence of religions on Internet and the importance of social media, research dedicated to religious leaders’ construction of symbolic image on social media, is hard to find. Starting from the 2013 Applebee’s social media crisis, which was triggered by a pastor, the present study investigates the frames and themes Facebook users employed in order to give meaning to the crisis, attribute responsibility, and more importantly, define the role of a religious leader in daily life. This study shows the existence on social media of an active religious literate public, a public clearly troubled in their religious faith and convictions by the non-Christian behavior of the pastor. This shows that in a post-secular society the religious imaginary is not only a “canopy” inherited and kept because of convenience, but a cultural frame of signification the real and a vector of dialogue in a (online) micro and macro public sphere
Attentional Bias towards Social Interactions during Viewing of Naturalistic Scenes
Human visual attention is readily captured by the social information in scenes. Multiple studies have shown that social areas of interest (AOIs) such as faces and bodies attract more attention than non-social AOIs (e.g., objects or background). However, whether this attentional bias is moderated by the presence (or absence) of a social interaction remains unclear. Here, the gaze of 70 young adults was tracked during the free viewing of 60 naturalistic scenes. All photographs depicted two people, who were either interacting or not. Analyses of dwell time revealed that more attention was spent on human than background AOIs in the interactive pictures. In non-interactive pictures, however, dwell time did not differ between AOI type. In the time-to-first-fixation analysis, humans always captured attention before other elements of the scene, although this difference was slightly larger in interactive than non-interactive scenes. These findings confirm the existence of a bias towards social information in attentional capture and suggest our attention values social interactions beyond the presence of two people
Vulnerability Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures Considering the Effect of Structural Characteristics
Considering the effects of earthquakes occurred during the last 15 years, this article focusses on finding solutions to minimize the human and economic losses. Several methodologies were developed in order to assess the vulnerability of the built environment with special reference to one of the most suitable structural systems in seismic areas for dwellings, offices or other functionalities, which is the reinforced concrete framed structure. Thus, the present article studies the influence on the vulnerability of reinforced concrete framed structures of geometric structural characteristics like the slab thickness, the building height and the plan configuration. Referring to the slab, it adds supplementary stiffness to the structure that can significantly influence upon its overall failure mechanism. 3D static nonlinear analyses are conducted by means of the SAP2000 computer program. The results are capacity curves which are used to develop the vulnerability curves. Three thicknesses are considered for the slab: 0.1 cm, 0.12 cm and 0.15 m. Medium and high rise structures are considered, with 4, and 8 levels, respectively, in order to determine the influence of the building height on the
vulnerability index. Three plan configurations of the buildings are compared: a square one, a rectangular one and an L shaped one. For all the analyzed cases, the corresponding vulnerability curves are compared. The obtained results reveal that more realistic results for the behavior of the structure can be obtained if special attention is given to the structural characteristics, especially during the conceptual design process
Pitfalls and problems encountered in rat model sciatic nerve surgery
When learning the basics of microsurgery, a trainee must be equipped with patience and perseverance in order to evolve. One must have the ground knowledge when it comes to peripheral nerve injury and nerve regeneration process in order to fully understand that the technique is vital for the outcome and final results. Furthermore, a trainee must practice on non-living tissue before performing successful in vivo operations and even in this case, one may be confronted with problems regarding the surgical technique. [1] The following article aims to reveal the main problems/mistakes when performing sciatic nerve surgery in an in vivo experimental model and the solutions for these problems
