Bose-Einstein correlations in hadron-pairs from lepto-production on nuclei ranging from hydrogen to xenon
Bose-Einstein correlations of like-sign charged hadrons produced in
deep-inelastic electron and positron scattering are studied in the HERMES
experiment using nuclear targets of H, H, He, He, N, Ne, Kr,
and Xe. A Gaussian approach is used to parametrize a two-particle correlation
function determined from events with at least two charged hadrons of the same
sign charge. This correlation function is compared to two different empirical
distributions that do not include the Bose-Einstein correlations. One
distribution is derived from unlike-sign hadron pairs, and the second is
derived from mixing like-sign pairs from different events. The extraction
procedure used simulations incorporating the experimental setup in order to
correct the results for spectrometer acceptance effects, and was tested using
the distribution of unlike-sign hadron pairs. Clear signals of Bose-Einstein
correlations for all target nuclei without a significant variation with the
nuclear target mass are found. Also, no evidence for a dependence on the
invariant mass W of the photon-nucleon system is found when the results are
compared to those of previous experiments
Measurement of higher cumulants of net-charge multiplicity distributions in AuAu collisions at GeV
We report the measurement of cumulants () of the net-charge
distributions measured within pseudorapidity () in AuAu
collisions at GeV with the PHENIX experiment at the
Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The ratios of cumulants (e.g. ,
) of the net-charge distributions, which can be related to volume
independent susceptibility ratios, are studied as a function of centrality and
energy. These quantities are important to understand the quantum-chromodynamics
phase diagram and possible existence of a critical end point. The measured
values are very well described by expectation from negative binomial
distributions. We do not observe any nonmonotonic behavior in the ratios of the
cumulants as a function of collision energy. The measured values of and can be directly compared to lattice
quantum-chromodynamics calculations and thus allow extraction of both the
chemical freeze-out temperature and the baryon chemical potential at each

Cross Section and Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetry of Mesons in Collisions at GeV at Forward Rapidity
We present a measurement of the cross section and transverse single-spin
asymmetry () for mesons at large pseudorapidity from
~GeV collisions. The measured cross section for
~GeV/ and is well described by a
next-to-leading-order perturbative-quantum-chromodynamics calculation. The
asymmetries have been measured as a function of Feynman- () from
, as well as transverse momentum () from

transverse single-spin measurements of forward and mesons at
various energies in overlapping ranges. Comparison of different particle
species can help to determine the origin of the large observed asymmetries in

Nuclear matter effects on production in asymmetric Cu+Au collisions at = 200 GeV
We report on production from asymmetric Cu+Au heavy-ion collisions
at =200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at both
forward (Cu-going direction) and backward (Au-going direction) rapidities. The
nuclear modification of yields in CuAu collisions in the Au-going
direction is found to be comparable to that in AuAu collisions when plotted
as a function of the number of participating nucleons. In the Cu-going
direction, production shows a stronger suppression. This difference is
comparable in magnitude and has the same sign as the difference expected from
shadowing effects due to stronger low- gluon suppression in the larger Au
nucleus. The relative suppression is opposite to that expected from hot nuclear
matter dissociation, since a higher energy density is expected in the Au-going

Measurements of double-helicity asymmetries in inclusive production in longitudinally polarized collisions at GeV
We report the double helicity asymmetry, , in inclusive
production at forward rapidity as a function of transverse momentum
and rapidity . The data analyzed were taken during
GeV longitudinally polarized collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion
Collider (RHIC) in the 2013 run using the PHENIX detector. At this collision
energy, particles are predominantly produced through gluon-gluon
scatterings, thus is sensitive to the gluon polarization
inside the proton. We measured by detecting the decay
daughter muon pairs within the PHENIX muon spectrometers in the
rapidity range . In this kinematic range, we measured the
to be ~(stat)~~(syst). The
can be expressed to be proportional to the product of the
gluon polarization distributions at two distinct ranges of Bjorken : one at
moderate range where recent RHIC data of jet and
double helicity spin asymmetries have shown evidence for significant gluon
polarization, and the other one covering the poorly known small- region . Thus our new results could be used to further

Production of and mesons in UU collisions at GeV
The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider measured
and mesons at midrapidity in UU collisions at
GeV in a wide transverse momentum range. Measurements were performed in the
decay modes. A strong suppression of
and meson production at high transverse momentum was observed in
central UU collisions relative to binary scaled results. Yields of
and mesons measured in UU collisions show similar suppression
pattern to the ones measured in AuAu collisions at
GeV for similar numbers of participant nucleons. The / ratios do
not show dependence on centrality or transverse momentum, and are consistent
with previously measured values in hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus,
