Global Assemblages, Resilience, and Earth Stewardship in the Anthropocene
In this paper, we argue that the Anthropocene is an epoch characterized not only by the anthropogenic dominance of the Earth\u27s ecosystems but also by new forms of environmental governance and institutions. Echoing the literature in political ecology, we call these new forms of environmental governance “global assemblages”. Socioecological changes associated with global assemblages disproportionately impact poorer nations and communities along the development continuum, or the “Global South”, and others who depend on natural resources for subsistence. Although global assemblages are powerful mechanisms of socioecological change, we show how transnational networks of grassroots organizations are able to resist their negative social and environmental impacts, and thus foster socioecological resilience
Evaluation of Modified Local Asphalt Mixtures by Fatigue Distress Criteria
A fatigue is the accumulation of the materials damage in asphalt concrete mixtures and growing of cracks, under increasing effect of repeated vehicular loading, aging and environment factors, in this research study the effect of temperature, asphalt content, mineral filler, applied Strain, and the polymer (SBS) as a modified asphalt to evaluate their effect on fatigue crack. To achieve the objective of this research, the Nottingham flexural fatigue test is considered and superpave mix design requirements are employed. Test specimens of 380 mm length by 60 mm width and 50 mm height were sawed from slabs of the prepared mixes by rolling wheel compaction. Using Controlled-strain procedure, the tests were conducted at temperatures of 10-20-30 ±1°C and at a frequency of loading of 5 Hz. The full factor design as well, three asphalt contents 4.72, 5.22 and 5.72%, mineral filler (Portland cement, limestone dust), applied strain (400-750µs), and (2-4%) percent of (SBS) polymer, Local material properties, stress level and environmental impacts are considered for this aspect. From the result, it is observed that 2% of SBS modified mixture given a best result due to increase the percent of fatigue life to (120%) as the average when compared with the control mixture, the fatigue life has a positive relationship with asphalt content and temperature when using control strain .The fatigue life of the mixture with limestone dust have result more than mixture with Portland cement,In the general, The fatigue lifeof mixture at 400µs has given result more than 750µs
Historical Scientific Racism and Psychiatric Publications: A Necessary International Anti-racist Code of Ethics
Ethical aspects of publishing in scientific journals are an important issue addressed since the late 1970s by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (1978). Today, medical journals also benefit from other international organizations’ recommendations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics, World Association of Medical Editors, and World Health Organization (WHO). These international best practices guidelines cover various ethical issues related to integrity in research, authorship, conflicts of interest, and so on

Correspondent Inferences and Consumer Decision Making
We measure individual differences in the tendency to make correspondent inference, i.e., to infer stable dispositions from the behavior of others, and show their impact on blame and guilt attributions, performance evaluations, and investment decisions. Higher accessibility of situational information helps debiasing correspondent inferences

Measurement, Consequences, and Debiasing of Correspondent Inference Making
Across consequential attributions of attitudes, ability, emotions, and morality, people make correspondent inferences-infer stable personality characteristics from others’ behavior, even when their behavior was caused by situational factors. We examined their structure and report the development and validation of an instrument measuring individual differences in the propensity to make correspondent inferences (the Neglect of External Demands-NED -scale). The instrument is internally consistent and distinct from measures of intelligence, cognitive ability, cognitive reflection, general decision making ability, preference for control, and attributional style. It predicted attributions of blame for accidental harm, the weight attributed to confessions obtained under coercion, the consideration of job difficulty in performance evaluations, and the ability to separate market and fund performance when making incentive-compatible investments. We found that making situational information accessible debiased the judgments of people most prone to make correspondent inferences

Medicinal Plant Use and Health Sovereignty: Findings from the Tajik and Afghan Pamirs
Medicinal plants are indicators of indigenous
knowledge in the context of political volatility and sociocultural
and ecological change in the Pamir Mountains of
Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Medicinal plants are the
primary health care option in this region of Central Asia.
The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate that
medicinal plants contribute to health security and sovereignty
in a time of instability. We illustrate the nutritional
as well as medicinal significance of plants in the daily
lives of villagers. Based on over a decade and half of
research related to resilience and livelihood security, we
present plant uses in the context of mountain communities.
Villagers identified over 58 cultivated and noncultivated
plants and described 310 distinct uses within
63 categories of treatment and prevention. Presence of
knowledge about medicinal plants is directly connected to
their use
Opportunities for improving data sharing and FAIR data practices to advance global mental health
It is crucial to optimize global mental health research to address the high burden of mental health challenges and mental illness for individuals and societies. Data sharing and reuse have demonstrated value for advancing science and accelerating knowledge development. The FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) Guiding Principles for scientific data provide a framework to improve the transparency, efficiency, and impact of research. In this review, we describe ethical and equity considerations in data sharing and reuse, delineate the FAIR principles as they apply to mental health research, and consider the current state of FAIR data practices in global mental health research, identifying challenges and opportunities. We describe noteworthy examples of collaborative efforts, often across disciplinary and national boundaries, to improve Findability and Accessibility of global mental health data, as well as efforts to create integrated data resources and tools that improve Interoperability and Reusability. Based on this review, we suggest a vision for the future of FAIR global mental health research and suggest practical steps for researchers with regard to study planning, data preservation and indexing, machine-actionable metadata, data reuse to advance science and improve equity, metrics and recognition
Life satisfaction amongst police officers working in the area of child abuse investigation
Child abuse investigation is an area of work reported to be associated with high levels of work stress. This potentially places professionals at risk of psychological harm and may lead to lower life satisfaction than in the general population. The current study examined this issue within a large sample of Australian police officers. Specifically, 214 officers working in the area of child abuse investigation responded to a single global measure of life satisfaction (LS) known to be highly related to other measures of subjective wellbeing as well as clinical depression. The results revealed that, irrespective of the officers’ gender or degree of exposure to child abuse cases, the mean score from LS score was within the expected adult normative range. Further, the overall incidence of low LS in this sample (1.9 per cent) was not significantly different from the general population (4.3 per cent). The implications of these findings for police organisations are discussed.<br /
The World Hip Trauma Evaluation Study 3 HEMIARTHROPLASTY EVALUATION BY MULTICENTRE INVESTIGATION - WHiTE 3: HEMI - AN ABRIDGED PROTOCOL
Approximately half of all hip fractures are displaced intracapsular fractures. The standard treatment for these fractures is either hemiarthroplasty or total hip arthroplasty. The recent National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance on hip fracture management recommends the use of 'proven' cemented stem arthroplasty with an Orthopaedic Device Evaluation Panel (ODEP) rating of at least 3B (97% survival at three years). The Thompsons prosthesis is currently lacking an ODEP rating despite over 50 years of clinical use, likely due to the paucity of implant survival data. Nationally, adherence to these guidelines is varied as there is debate as to which prosthesis optimises patient outcomes. This study design is a multi-centre, multi-surgeon, parallel, two arm, standard-of-care pragmatic randomised controlled trial. It will be embedded within the WHiTE Comprehensive Cohort Study (ISRCTN63982700). The main analysis is a two-way equivalence comparison between Hemi-Thompson and Hemi-Exeter polished taper with Unitrax head. Secondary outcomes will include radiological leg length discrepancy measured as per Bidwai and Willett, mortality, re-operation rate and indication for re-operation, length of index hospital stay and revision at four months. This study will be supplemented by the NHFD (National Hip Fracture Database) dataset.Evidence on the optimum choice of prosthesis for hemiarthroplasty of the hip is lacking. National guidance is currently based on expert opinion rather than empirical evidence. The incidence of hip fracture is likely to continue to increase and providing high quality evidence on the optimumCite this article: A. L. Sims.
