Asymptotic Dirichlet Problem for A-Harmonic Functions on Manifolds with Pinched Curvature
We study the asymptotic Dirichlet problem for -harmonic functions on a Cartan-Hadamard manifold whose radial sectional curvatures outside a compact set satisfy an upper bound and a pointwise pinching condition for some constants epsilon > 0 and C (K) a 1, where P and are any 2-dimensional subspaces of T (x) M containing the (radial) vector acr(x) and r(x) = d(o, x) is the distance to a fixed point o a M. We solve the asymptotic Dirichlet problem with any continuous boundary data . The results apply also to the Laplacian and p-Laplacian, as special cases.Peer reviewe

Molecular organization of the tear fluid lipid layer
The tear fluid protects the corneal epithelium from drying out as well as from invasion by pathogens. It also provides cell nutrients. Similarly to lung surfactant, it is composed of an aqueous phase covered by a lipid layer. Here we describe the molecular organization of the anterior lipid layer of the tear film. Artificial tear fluid lipid layers (ATFLLs) composed of egg yolk phosphatidylcholine (60 mol %), free fatty acids (20 mol %), cholesteryl oleate (10 mol %), and triglycerides (10 mol %) were deposited on the air-water interface and their physico-chemical behavior was compared to egg-yolk phosphatidylcholine monolayers by using Langmuir-film balance techniques, x-ray diffraction, and imaging techniques as well as in silico molecular level simulations. At low surface pressures, ATFLLs were organized at the air-water interface as heterogeneous monomolecular films. Upon compression the ATFLLs collapsed toward the air phase and formed hemispherelike lipid aggregates. This transition was reversible upon relaxation. These results were confirmed by molecular-level simulations of ATFLL, which further provided molecular-scale insight into the molecular distributions inside and dynamics of the tear film. Similar type of behavior is observed in lung surfactant but the folding takes place toward the aqueous phase. The results provide novel information of the function of lipids in the tear fluid
Education for optimized Life Cycle Management : The Project e-CIRP and its insights into embedding circular economy aspects to product design via teaching
Publisher Copyright: © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.The integration of circular economy-based life cycle management (LCM) into product design and optimisation is essential for the transformation towards a circular economy (CE). However, companies often lack the expertise to adapt life-cycle design (LCD) thinking in their business operations and are in need of respective capacity building. To close this apparent gap is the aim of the project e-CirP (Embedding Circular Economy into Product Design and Optimization) where LUT University, Fraunhofer, Technical University of Denmark, University of Padova, Delft University of Technology, University of Helsinki and Metso Outotec have worked together to develop a program that allows Master students across Europe to learn how to integrate CE and Life Cycle Thinking principles into product design by analysing real industrial cases. In the project, modern pedagogical approaches have been applied. A modular training package covering general circular economy aspects, as well as detailed value chain perspectives, has been created. Next to the content-related aspects, a great focus was also on the support of so-called soft-skills development, e.g. through international student cooperation on case studies. The paper presents the perspective of participating students as well as the cooperating companies that supplied the industry cases to allow an overview of opportunities and challenges.Peer reviewe

Particle Production at Large Transverse Momentum with ALICE
We present transverse momentum distributions of inclusive charged particles
and identified hadrons in and Pb--Pb collisions at \rs= 2.76 TeV,
measured by ALICE at the LHC. The Pb--Pb data are presented in intervals of
collision centrality and cover transverse momenta up to 50 GeV/. Nuclear
medium effects are studied in terms of the nuclear modification factor \raa.
The results indicate a strong suppression of high- particles in Pb--Pb
collisions, consistent with a large energy loss of hard-scattered partons in
the hot, dense and long-lived medium created at the LHC. We compare the
preliminary results for inclusive charged particles to previous results from
RHIC and calculations from energy loss models. Furthermore, we compare the
nuclear modification factors of inclusive charged particles to those of

Music Tune Restoration Based on a Mother Wavelet Construction
It is offered to use the mother wavelet function obtained from the local part of an analyzed music signal. Requirements for the constructed function are proposed and the implementation technique and its properties are described. The suggested approach allows construction of mother wavelet families with specified identifying properties. Consequently, this makes possible to identify the basic signal variations of complex music signals including local time-frequency characteristics of the basic one
Polynomial Growth Harmonic Functions on Finitely Generated Abelian Groups
In the present paper, we develop geometric analytic techniques on Cayley
graphs of finitely generated abelian groups to study the polynomial growth
harmonic functions. We develop a geometric analytic proof of the classical
Heilbronn theorem and the recent Nayar theorem on polynomial growth harmonic
functions on lattices \mathds{Z}^n that does not use a representation formula
for harmonic functions. We also calculate the precise dimension of the space of
polynomial growth harmonic functions on finitely generated abelian groups.
While the Cayley graph not only depends on the abelian group, but also on the
choice of a generating set, we find that this dimension depends only on the
