Disjointly homogeneous Banach lattices and applications
This is a survey on disjointly homogeneous Banach lattices and their
applicactions. Several structural properties of this class are analyzed. In
addition we show how these spaces provide a natural framework for studying the
compactness of powers of operators allowing for a unified treatment of
well-known results.Comment: 20 pages, to appear in Proceedings Positivity VII Conference (2013
Santiago, in the Captaincy General of Chile, is the scene of a great religious controversy in the seventeenth century. The Clarisse nuns and the Franciscan prelates face each other in their search for porwer. This article reviews the aforementioned event from the "official" version contained in the stories of Vicuña Mackenna and Vicente Carvallo and the "forgotten" version documented by the nuns themselves. Paying attention to both historical sources allows us to build a more complete narrative, which overcomes that unique history of masculine tone that tends to neutralize the episode. This gender perspective reading seeks to contribute to women history and to prevail over the previous anecdote.
A two-level enriched finite element method for a mixed problem
The simplest pair of spaces is made inf-sup stable for the mixed form of the Darcy equation. The key ingredient is to enhance the finite element spaces inside a Petrov-Galerkin framework with functions satisfying element-wise local Darcy problems with right hand sides depending on the residuals over elements and edges. The enriched method is symmetric, locally mass conservative and keeps the degrees of freedom of the original interpolation spaces. First, we assume local enrichments exactly computed and we prove uniqueness and optimal error estimates in natural norms. Then, a low cost two-level finite element method is proposed to effectively obtain enhancing basis functions. The approach lays on a two-scale numerical analysis and shows that well-posedness and optimality is kept, despite the second level numerical approximation. Several numerical experiments validate the theoretical results and compares (favourably in some cases) our results with the classical Raviart-Thomas elemen
desplazamiento de pobladores y la reestructuración de las prácticas comerciales en el espacio público;
This study addresses the recent spatial transformations in the historic centre of Guadalajara, Mexico.
Through critical analysis, the article reveals the drastic processes of population displacement and
restructuring of retail practices in the public space; conceptualizing them as revanchist spatial
transformations born out of dichotomist discourses for their implementation. Drawing upon literature,
mapping and interviews collected through fieldwork, the study addresses the strategies of elite coalitions,
examining their contestations vis-à-vis emerging social resistances in order to excavate the possibilities for
accommodating the inherent alterity of Mexican urbanism beyond binary conceptions that only favour the
increasing commodification of urban space
Implementing Time Amplifier for a Low Power SAR-ADC with Adaptive Conversion Cycle for High Quality Audio Applications in 0.18um TSMC CMOS Technology
This document presents the design of a time amplifier circuit in 0.18 m CMOS process with a supply voltage of 1.8 V. Simulation results performed with typical process parameters, nominal supply voltage, room temperature and an operating frequency of 200 KHz, show a time gain of 200, with an error of less than 7%. The power consumption of the designed circuit is 26 W. The circuit can receive signals with a time difference from 10 ps to 4.7 nS. The layout dimension is 149.985 m x 168.536 m, with an area of 25.3 nm2.ITESO, A. C
