Neutrino mass induced radiatively by supersymmetric leptoquarks
We show how nonzero Majorana neutrino masses can be radiatively generated by
extending the MSSM with leptoquark chiral multiplets without violating
R-parity. It is found that, with these particles, the R-parity conservation
does not imply lepton number conservation. Neutrino masses generated at a
one-loop level are closely related to the down quark mass matrix. The ratio of
neutrino mass-squared splittings obtained is naturally close to which is in the right region required to explain both
the atmospheric neutrino data and the MSW solutions for the solar neutrino
data.Comment: 13 pages, one figure, more constraints added. To appear in Phys.

Understanding the newly observed Y(4008) by Belle
Very recently a new enhancement around 4.05 GeV was observed by Belle
experiment. In this short note, we discuss some possible assignments for this
enhancement, i.e. and molecular state. In these two
assignments, Y(4008) can decay into with comparable
branching ratio with that of . Thus one suggests
high energy experimentalists to look for Y(4008) in channel.
Furthermore one proposes further experiments to search missing channel
, and especially and
, which will be helpful to distinguish and
molecular state assignments for this new enhancement.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures. Typos correcte
Numerical Simulation-Based Optimization of Contact Stress Distribution and Lubrication Conditions in the Straight Worm Drive
Tooth contact area optimization/meshing of the straight worm pair is vital for improving its operation efficiency. Geometric parameters of a worm helicoid were derived via the gear meshing theory using the equations of the instantaneous contact line. The visualization function and powerful computing capability of MATLAB are used for the numerical analysis where the instantaneous contact line distribution is simulated for particular worm drive parameters, which yields the induced curvature and slip angle in the direction of the line. The above results are used for further optimization of the meshing performance of the straight worm gear and identification of its influencing factors. A case study of the particular cylindrical worm gear in compliance with the GB 10085-1988 Standard of China demonstrate that a reasonable selection of worm gear parameters can extend the contact line and the working range of the tooth surface of the worm gear and/or make the contact line distribution along the worm wheel more uniform, thus improving the local meshing performanceОптимизация зубчатой контактной поверхности/зацепление прямолинейной червячной пары определяют повышение эффективности ее эксплуатации.
Effects of dark sectors' mutual interaction on the growth of structures
We present a general formalism to study the growth of dark matter
perturbations when dark energy perturbations and interactions between dark
sectors are present. We show that dynamical stability of the growth of
structure depends on the type of coupling between dark sectors. By taking the
appropriate coupling to ensure the stable growth of structure, we observe that
the effect of the dark sectors' interaction overwhelms that of dark energy
perturbation on the growth function of dark matter perturbation. Due to the
influence of the interaction, the growth index can differ from the value
without interaction by an amount within the observational sensibility, which
provides a possibility to disclose the interaction between dark sectors through
future observations on the growth of large structure.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, revised version, to appear in JCA
Observation of Two New N* Peaks in J/psi -> and Decays
The system in decays of is limited to be
isospin 1/2 by isospin conservation. This provides a big advantage in studying
compared with and experiments which mix
isospin 1/2 and 3/2 for the system. Using 58 million decays
collected with the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, more than 100 thousand
events are obtained. Besides two well known
peaks at 1500 MeV and 1670 MeV, there are two new, clear peaks in
the invariant mass spectrum around 1360 MeV and 2030 MeV. They are the
first direct observation of the peak and a long-sought "missing"
peak above 2 GeV in the invariant mass spectrum. A simple
Breit-Wigner fit gives the mass and width for the peak as MeV and MeV, and for the new peak above 2 GeV
as MeV and MeV, respectively
A high-throughput, ultrafast, and online three-phase electro-extraction method for analysis of trace level pharmaceuticals
Sample preparation is often reported as the main bottleneck of analytical processes. To meet the requirements of both high-throughput and high sensitivity, improved sample-preparation methods capable of fast analyte preconcentration are urgently needed. To this end, a new three-phase electroextraction (EE) method is presented that allows for ultrafast electroextraction hyphenated to flow-injection analysis mass spectrometry (FIA-MS). Four model compounds, i.e., propranolol, amitriptyline, bupivacaine, and oxeladin, were used to optimize and evaluate the method. Within only 30 s extraction time, enrichment factors (EF) of 105-569 and extraction recoveries (ER) of 10.2%-55.7% were achieved for these analytes, with limits of detection (LODs) ranging from 0.36 to 3.21 ng mL(-1), good linear response function (R-2 > 0.99), low relative standard deviation (0.6%-17.8%) and acceptable accuracy (73-112%). Finally, the optimized three-phase EE method was successfully applied to human urine and plasma samples. Our three-phase electroextraction method is simple to construct and offers ultrafast, online extraction of trace amounts of analytes from biological samples, and therefore has great potential for high-throughput analysis. Search for Invisible Decays of and in and
Using a data sample of decays collected with the BES
II detector at the BEPC, searches for invisible decays of and
in to and are performed.
The signals, which are reconstructed in final states, are used
to tag the and decays. No signals are found for the
invisible decays of either or , and upper limits at the 90%
confidence level are determined to be for the ratio
and for . These are the first
searches for and decays into invisible final states.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures; Added references, Corrected typo
Strong tree level unitarity violations in the extra dimensional Standard Model with scalars in the bulk
We show how the tree level unitarity violations of compactified extra
dimensional extensions of the Standard Model become much stronger when the
scalar sector is included in the bulk. This effect occurs when the couplings
are not suppressed for larger Kaluza-Klein levels, and could have relevant
consequences for the phenomenology of the next generation of colliders. We also
introduce a simple and generic formalism to obtain unitarity bounds for finite
energies, taking into account coupled channels including the towers of
Kaluza-Klein excitations.Comment: Version to appear in Phys. Rev. D Typos corrected and remarks added

Non-Markovian dynamics for an open two-level system without rotating wave approximation: Indivisibility versus backflow of information
By use of the two measures presented recently, the indivisibility and the
backflow of information, we study the non-Markovianity of the dynamics for a
two-level system interacting with a zero-temperature structured environment
without using rotating wave approximation (RWA). In the limit of weak coupling
between the system and the reservoir, and by expanding the time-convolutionless
(TCL) generator to the forth order with respect to the coupling strength, the
time-local non-Markovian master equation for the reduced state of the system is
derived. Under the secular approximation, the exact analytic solution is
obtained and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the indivisibility and
the backflow of information for the system dynamics are presented. In the more
general case, we investigate numerically the properties of the two measures for
the case of Lorentzian reservoir. Our results show the importance of the
counter-rotating terms to the short-time-scale non-Markovian behavior of the
system dynamics, further expose the relations between the two measures and
their rationality as non-Markovian measures. Finally, the complete positivity
of the dynamics of the considered system is discussed
Stability of temporal solitons in uniform and "managed" quadratic nonlinear media with opposite group-velocity dispersions at fundamental and second harmonics
The problem of the stability of solitons in second-harmonic-generating media
with normal group-velocity dispersion (GVD) in the second-harmonic (SH) field,
which is generic to available chi^(2) materials, is revisited. Using an
iterative numerical scheme to construct stationary soliton solutions, and
direct simulations to test their stability, we identify a full
soliton-stability range in the space of the system's parameters, including the
coefficient of the group-velocity-mismatch (GVM). The soliton stability is
limited by an abrupt onset of growth of tails in the SH component, the relevant
stability region being defined as that in which the energy loss to the tail
generation is negligible under experimentally relevant conditions. We
demonstrate that the stability domain can be readily expanded with the help of
two "management" techniques (spatially periodic compensation of destabilizing
effects) - the dispersion management (DM) and GVM management. In comparison
with their counterparts in optical fibers, DM solitons in the chi^(2) medium
feature very weak intrinsic oscillations.Comment: Optics Communications, in pres
