    The Effect of the Crosstalk between Photoperiod and Temperature on the Heading-Date in Rice

    Photoperiod and temperature are two important environmental factors that influence the heading-date of rice. Although the influence of the photoperiod on heading has been extensively reported in rice, the molecular mechanism for the temperature control of heading remains unknown. This study reports an early heading mutant derived from tissue culture lines of rice and investigates the heading-date of wild type and mutant in different photoperiod and temperature treatments. The linkage analysis showed that the mutant phenotype cosegregated with the Hd1 locus. Sequencing analysis found that the mutant contained two insertions and several single-base substitutions that caused a dramatic reduction in Hd1mRNA levels compared with wild type. The expression patterns of Hd1 and Hd3a were also analyzed in different photoperiod and temperature conditions, revealing that Hd1 mRNA levels displayed similar expression patterns for different photoperiod and temperature treatments, with high expression levels at night and reduced levels in the daytime. In addition, Hd1 displayed a slightly higher expression level under long-day and low temperature conditions. Hd3a mRNA was present at a very low level under low temperature conditions regardless of the day-length. This result suggests that suppression of Hd3a expression is a principle cause of late heading under low temperature and long-day conditions

    Increased p38-MAPK is responsible for chemotherapy resistance in human gastric cancer cells

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chemoresistance is one of the main obstacles to successful cancer therapy and is frequently associated with Multidrug resistance (MDR). Many different mechanisms have been suggested to explain the development of an MDR phenotype in cancer cells. One of the most studied mechanisms is the overexpression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), which is a product of the <it>MDR1 </it>gene. Tumor cells often acquire the drug-resistance phenotype due to upregulation of the <it>MDR1 </it>gene. Overexpression of <it>MDR1 </it>gene has often been reported in primary gastric adenocarcinoma.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>This study investigated the role of p38-MAPK signal pathway in vincristine-resistant SGC7901/VCR cells. P-gp and MDR1 RNA were detected by Western blot analysis and RT-PCR amplification. Mitgen-activated protein kinases and function of P-gp were demonstrated by Western blot and FACS Aria cytometer analysis. Ap-1 activity and cell apoptosis were detected by Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay and annexin V-PI dual staining.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The vincristine-resistant SGC7901/VCR cells with increased expression of the multidrug-resistance 1 (<it>MDR1</it>) gene were resistant to P-gp-related drug and P-gp-unrelated drugs. Constitutive increases of phosphorylated p38-MAPK and AP-1 activities were also found in the drug-resistant cells. Inhibition of p38-MAPK by SB202190 reduced activator protein-1 (AP-1) activity and <it>MDR1 </it>expression levels and increased the sensitivity of SGC7901/VCR cells to chemotherapy.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Activation of the p38-MAPK pathway might be responsible for the modulation of P-glycoprotein-mediated and P-glycoprotein-unmediated multidrug resistance in the SGC7901/VCR cell line.</p

    Effect of Ultrasonic Surface Rolling Process on Surface Properties and Microstructure of 6061 Aluminum Alloy

    Nano-surface layers were prepared on the surface of 6061 aluminum alloy using the ultrasonic surface rolling process (USRP). The surface morphology, surface roughness, microstructure, hardness, and corrosion resistance of 6061 aluminum alloy were systematically characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM), optical microscope(OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and other testing methods. The results showed that ultrasonic surface rolling strengthening did not change the surface phase composition of 6061 aluminum alloy. It changed the size of the surface phases and the distance between the phases while refining the surface grains. The static pressures has a great influence on the surface properties of 6061 aluminum alloy. The best surface properties were obtained under 500N static pressures. The surface hardness reached 129.5HV0.5, the surface morphology was flat and continuous, the surface roughness was reduced to Ra0.191μm, and the corrosion resistance was significantly improved

    CFD analysis and optimization of axial flow fans

    The axial fan plays a vital role in the safe production of the mine, and in this paper, a mine axial flow ventilator is designed through numerical simulation to meet the demand of air exchange inside and outside of the mine, so as to maintain the oxygen supply of the mine and discharge the harmful gases. Finite element analysis of four structural factors of axial fan blade installation angle, number of blades, deflector plate, rotational speed, drawing fan wind pressure and rotational speed cloud diagram, calculation of axial power, by analyzing the distribution of the cloud diagram to design the shape of the fan blade, and derive the change rule of the wind pressure when changing the structure of the fan. By using gradient descent method to control the percentage of imported mass flow rate, the P-Q performance curve of the fan is obtained, which optimizes its aerodynamic performance, improves efficiency, and extends its service life

    Mechanical, Dielectric and Flame-Retardant Properties of GF/PP Modified with Different Flame Retardants

    With the rapid development of electronic information technology, higher requirements have been put forward for the dielectric properties and load-bearing capacity of materials. In continuous glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites, polypropylene matrix is a non-polar polymer with a very low dielectric constant and dielectric loss, but polypropylene is extremely flammable which greatly limits its application. Aiming at the better application of flame retardant-modified continuous glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites (FR/GF/PP) in the field of electronic communication, the effects of four different kinds of flame retardants (Decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE), halogen-free one-component flame retardant (MONO), halogen-free compound flame retardant (MULTI), and intumescent flame retardant (IFR)) on the properties of FR/GF/PP were compared, including the mechanical properties, dielectric properties and flame-retardant properties. The results showed that among the FR/GF/PP, IFR has the highest performance in mechanical properties, MULTI has better performance in LOI, DBDPE and IFR have better performance in flame retardant rating, and DBDPE and IFR have lower dielectric properties. Finally, gray relational analysis is applied to propose an approach for selecting the optimal combination (flame retardant type and flame-retardant content) of comprehensive performance.     A 2D Optimal Path Planning Algorithm for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Driving in Unknown Underwater Canyons

    This research aims to solve the safe navigation problem of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in deep ocean, which is a complex and changeable environment with various mountains. When an AUV reaches the deep sea navigation, it encounters many underwater canyons, and the hard valley walls threaten its safety seriously. To solve the problem on the safe driving of AUV in underwater canyons and address the potential of AUV autonomous obstacle avoidance in uncertain environments, an improved AUV path planning algorithm based on the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm is proposed in this work. This method refers to an end-to-end path planning algorithm that optimizes the strategy directly. It takes sensor information as input and driving speed and yaw angle as outputs. The path planning algorithm can reach the predetermined target point while avoiding large-scale static obstacles, such as valley walls in the simulated underwater canyon environment, as well as sudden small-scale dynamic obstacles, such as marine life and other vehicles. In addition, this research aims at the multi-objective structure of the obstacle avoidance of path planning, modularized reward function design, and combined artificial potential field method to set continuous rewards. This research also proposes a new algorithm called deep SumTree-deterministic policy gradient algorithm (SumTree-DDPG), which improves the random storage and extraction strategy of DDPG algorithm experience samples. According to the importance of the experience samples, the samples are classified and stored in combination with the SumTree structure, high-quality samples are extracted continuously, and SumTree-DDPG algorithm finally improves the speed of the convergence model. Finally, this research uses Python language to write an underwater canyon simulation environment and builds a deep reinforcement learning simulation platform on a high-performance computer to conduct simulation learning training for AUV. Data simulation verified that the proposed path planning method can guide the under-actuated underwater robot to navigate to the target without colliding with any obstacles. In comparison with the DDPG algorithm, the stability, training’s total reward, and robustness of the improved Sumtree-DDPG algorithm planner in this study are better

    Mechanical, Flame-Retardant and Dielectric Properties of Intumescent Flame Retardant/Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polypropylene through a Novel Dispersed Distribution Mode

    The application of continuous glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene thermoplastic composites (GF/PP) is limited due to the inadequate flame retardancy of the polypropylene (PP) matrix. Apart from altering the composition of the flame retardants, the distribution modes of flame retardants also impact material performance. In this study, an alternative approach involving non-uniform distribution is proposed, namely, dispersed distribution, in which non-flame-retardant-content layers (NFRLs) and/or low-flame-retardant-content layers (LFRLs) are dispersed among high-flame-retardant-content layers (HFRLs). The mechanical, flame retardant and dielectric properties of GF/PP with intumescent flame retardant (IFR/GF/PP) are investigated comparatively under uniform, gradient, and dispersed distributions of the flame retardants. The results demonstrate that non-uniform distribution exhibits superior flame retardant performance compared to uniform distribution. Dispersed distribution enables IFR/GF/PP to attain enhanced mechanical properties and reduced dielectric constants while maintaining excellent flame-retardant properties

    Hierarchical Motion Planning of AUVs in Three Typical Marine Environments

    Broad waters, harbor waters, and waterway waters make up more than 90% of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) navigation area, and each of them has its typical environmental characteristics. In this paper, a three-layer AUV motion planning architecture was designed to improve the planning logic of an AUV when completing complex underwater tasks. The AUV motion planning ability was trained by the improved deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) combined with the experience pool of classification. Compared with the traditional DDPG algorithm, the proposed algorithm is more efficient. Using the strategy obtained from the training and the motion planning architecture proposed in the paper, the tasks of AUVs searching in broad waters, crossing in waterway waters and patrolling in harbor waters were realized in the simulation experiment. The reliability of the planning system was verified in field tests
