    Higher rank (q,t)(q,t)-Catalan polynomials, affine Springer fibers, and a finite Rational Shuffle Theorem

    We introduce the higher rank (q,t)(q,t)-Catalan polynomials and prove they equal truncations of the Hikita polynomial to a finite number of variables. Using affine compositions and a certain standardization map, we define a dinv statistic on rank rr semistandard (m,n)(m,n)-parking functions and prove codinv counts the dimension of an affine space in an affine paving of a parabolic affine Springer fiber. Combining these results, we give a finite analogue of the Rational Shuffle Theorem in the context of double affine Hecke algebras. Lastly, we also give a Bizley-type formula for the higher rank Catalan numbers in the non-coprime case.Comment: 38 pages, 6 figures. Comments welcome

    A social capital index

    In this paper we propose a social capital measure for individuals belonging to a social network. To do this, we use a game theoretical approach and so we suppose that these individuals are also involved in a cooperative TU-game modelling the economic or social interests that motivate their interactions. We propose as a measure of individual social capital the difference between the Myerson and the Shapley values of actors in the social network and explore the properties of such a measure. This definition is close to our previous measure of centrality (Gómez et al., 2003) and so in this paper we also study the relation between social capital and centrality, finding that this social capital measure can be considered as a vector magnitude with two additive components: centrality and positional externalities. Finally, several real political examples are used to show the agreement of our conclusions with the reality in these situations

    Constitutive and Induced Salt Tolerance Mechanisms and Potential Uses of Limonium Mill. Species

    [EN] Limonium is one of the most interesting and biodiverse genera of halophytes, with many species adapted to saline environments. Limonium species have a promising potential as cultivated minor crops as many have ornamental value, or are already used as medicinal plants. Other species are marketed as gourmet food or can be used for decontamination of polluted soils. Design and implementation of specific breeding programmes are needed to fully realise this potential, based on the vast genetic variation and high stress tolerance of wild species within the genus. Most Limonium species are halophytes, but many are also resistant to drought, especially those from the Mediterranean and other arid regions. Such species constitute attractive models for basic research on the mechanisms of stress tolerance, both constitutive and induced. As typical recretohalopyhtes, with excretive salt glands, Limonium species possess remarkable morpho-anatomical traits.     Mesenchymal stem cells secretome : The cornerstone of cell-free regenerative medicine

    Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are the most frequently used stem cells in clinical trials due to their easy isolation from various adult tissues, their ability of homing to injury sites and their potential to differentiate into multiple cell types. However, the realization that the beneficial effect of MSCs relies mainly on their paracrine action, rather than on their engraftment in the recipient tissue and subsequent differentiation, has opened the way to cell-free therapeutic strategies in regenerative medicine. All the soluble factors and vesicles secreted by MSCs are commonly known as secretome. MSCs secretome has a key role in cell-to-cell communication and has been proven to be an active mediator of immune-modulation and regeneration both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, the use of secretome has key advantages over cell-based therapies, such as a lower immunogenicity and easy production, handling and storage. Importantly, MSCs can be modulated to alter their secretome composition to better suit specific therapeutic goals, thus, opening a large number of possibilities.     DISEÑO EXPERIMENTAL APLICADO A LA ESTIMACIÓN DEL TIEMPO DE VIDA EN ANAQUEL DE GALLETAS DE MANTEQUILLA MEDIANTE CAMBIOS DE EMPAQUE

    El propósito de la presente investigación fue diseñar un experimento que demuestre los cambios del tiempo de vida que sufren las galletas al variar el tipo de empaque donde se almacenan. El objetivo general consistió en caracterizar el efecto que tiene sobre el tiempo de vida útil de galletas de mantequilla el variar el tipo de empaque, por medio del diseño experimental para prolongar las condiciones aptas para el consumo. El enfoque del estudio realizado es cuantitativo, debido a que las variables que se manipularon y analizaron fueron datos cuantitativos (humedad y días). El alcance es correlacional, ya que se midió por medio de valores de humedad, el grado de relación que existe entre la vida útil de las galletas y el tipo de empaque empleado para su almacenamiento. Mientras que el diseño utilizado fue experimental, debido a que se manipuló el empaque del producto. Se obtuvieron diferencias significativas en los valores medios de humedad de las galletas en los tres empaques empleados durante el experimento, y se identificó que el empaque biodegradable ofrece la mejor barrera contra el deterioro por humedad del producto, por lo que se ofrece como alternativa la introducción de un empaque amigable con el medio ambiente y que a la vez conserva la calidad de las galletas. En conclusión, existe diferencia significativa entre cada tipo de empaque con un nivel de significancia del 95 %, siendo el mejor el empaque el biodegradable ya que los valores de humedad registrados fueron los menores. De acuerdo con los resultados, se recomienda aplicar el diseño de experimento para los demás productos de galletería que se vean afectados en calidad por el tipo de empaque utilizado

    Adaptability of invasive plants to climate change

    [EN] Climate change represents one of the greatest environmental challenges of the 21st century, accentuated by deforestation and the degradation of habitats. Changes in vital aspects such as temperature, the amount and distribution of rainfall or the frequency of extreme meteorological phenomena will probably negatively affect ecosystems. The possibilities of invasion will predictably increase, being endemic species especially vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Invasive species are extremely adaptable to climate variability, as evidenced by their current large latitudinal ranges. Generally, invasive plants also have rapid dispersal characteristics, allowing them to vary their ranges in response to changing climatic conditions rapidly. As a result, these species could become more dominant in many areas under changing climatic conditions. Both the cultural and business sectors are of the utmost importance for the development and well-being of any population and their study requires a great deal of attention. The link that exists between values, beliefs and behavior of individuals and the influence of these affects the decision-making of the individual to undertake or work for others. With this research proposal, it is intended to deepen the discussion of these two phenomena through the creative industries, which constitute a great challenge for the future of workers and professionals in this sector that has been greatly affected by an economic crisis. the one we are currently facing. And from which a different world has resulted in which people and institutions relatedto the cultural sector have been adapting to new social and economic realities.Este artículo aborda el tema de las industrias creativas. Tema relevante e interesante, que merece ser estudiado, analizado y reflexionado desde diferentes perspectivas. Tanto el sector cultural como el empresarial, son de suma importancia para el desarrollo y bienestar de cualquier población y su estudio requiere de mucha atención. El vinculo que existe entre valores, creencias y comportamiento de los individuos y la influencia de estas repercute en la toma de decisiones del individuo para emprender o trabajar para otros. Con esta propuesta de investigación, se pretende profundizar en la discusión de estos dos fenómenos a través de las industrias creativas, las cuales constituyen un gran reto para el futuro de los trabajadores y profesionistas de este sector que ha sido muy afectado por una crisis económica a la que nos enfrentamos actualmente.
