Tho home economics girls at Iowa State College receive instruction in child care and training. The course in Child Psychology is required, and a study is made of the child, of his habits and of special problems which may arise. The girls are also required to observe some particular child and write a report of it. The observations are to be made over a considerable length of time--about 10 weeks-and in as many different situations as possible; that is, how the child eats, how he plays with others and by himself, how he responds when out among strangers, etc

Picnics are really a variation in serving the usual meal, but what a pleasing variation they are! The caroling birds furnish the musical entertainment, and the green foliage and blue sky make up the decorations for the occasion. Sometimes a few pesky mosquitoes interrupt the peacefulness of the party, but picnickers are wont, after some unsuccessful battling, to accept mosquitoes as a part of the natural environment

In the midst of winter- when the ground lays covered with a blanket of snow and the mercury hovers round and below the zero point-then fresh vegetables are a choice and highly desirable product to be included in the menu. Possibly it is the idea of always wanting what is not,-that makes them so especially desirable in the winter when the season is unfavorable for growing these things. However, the person who has wisely looked ahead and successfully stored the summer and fall crops of fruits and vegetables is fortunate, indeed, for she can inexpensively satisfy her family\u27s tastes with those products-some of which might be priceless on the market just at that time

    Enjoy Thanksgiving Day

The Thanksgiving feast is a tradition and any attempt to make it different usually leads to disappointment. One lady told of a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that she and her party enjoyed at a fashionable hotel. It was a well-balanced meal, served in the most correct manner, and yet it did not spell Thanksgiving. On the way home one of the small boys in the party remarked, \u27\u27I like homemade turkey best.\u27\u27 After all, isn\u27t that the way a great many of us feel? We don\u27t wish to depart too far from the old traditional feasts
