The Beverton–Hold model on isolated time scales

In this work, we formulate the Beverton–Holt model on isolated time scales and extend existing results known in the discrete and quantum calculus cases. Applying a recently introduced definition of periodicity for arbitrary isolated time scales, we discuss the effects of periodicity onto a population modeled by a dynamic version of the Beverton–Holt equation. The first main theorem provides conditions for the existence of a unique ω-periodic solution that is globally asymptotically stable, which addresses the first Cushing–Henson conjecture on isolated time scales. The second main theorem concerns the generalization of the second Cushing–Henson conjecture. It investigates the effects of periodicity by deriving an upper bound for the average of the unique periodic solution. The obtained upper bound reveals a dependence on the underlying time structure, not apparent in the classical case. This work also extends existing results for the Beverton–Holt model in the discrete and quantum cases, and it complements existing conclusions on periodic time scales. This work can furthermore guide other applications of the recently introduced periodicity on isolated time scales

Períodos de convivência de plantas daninhas com cenoura cultivada com e sem palhada de aveia-preta

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of black oat (Avena strigosa) straw on the period prior to the interference (PPI) of weeds in the 'Alvorada' carrot (Daucus carota) crop. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design, in a 2×5 factorial arrangement, with five replicates. The following two factors were evaluated in the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 crop years: soil cover, with and without 10 Mg ha-1 black oat straw; and periods of coexistence with weeds – 0, 15, 30, 60, and 120 days after emergence (DAE). To determine the PPI, a loss of 5% in the commercial yield of carrot roots was considered as acceptable. At the end of the crop cycle, straw reduced the total dry mass of weeds by 43.5 and 67.5%, respectively, in the first and second crop years. The PPI of the crops with and without straw was, respectively, 2.0 and 1.5 DAE in the first crop year and 17 and 6.0 DAE in the second. The use of black oat straw increases the PPI for the 'Alvorada' carrot crop.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da palhada de aveia-preta (Avena strigosa) sobre o período anterior à interferência (PAI) de plantas daninhas na cultura da cenoura 'Alvorada' (Daucus carota). O experimento foi realizado em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 2×5, com cinco repetições. Os dois seguintes fatores foram avaliados nos anos de cultivo de 2016/2017 e 2017/2018: cobertura de solo com e sem 10 Mg ha-1 de palhada de aveia-preta; e períodos de coexistência com as plantas daninhas – 0, 15, 30, 60 e 120 dias após a emergência (DAE). Para determinar o PAI, considerou-se como aceitável a perda de 5% na produtividade comercial de raízes da cenoura. Ao final do ciclo da cultura, a palhada reduziu a massa seca total de plantas daninhas em 43,5 e 67,5%, respectivamente, no primeiro e no segundo ano de cultivo. O PAI dos cultivos com e sem palhada foi, respectivamente, de 2,0 e 1,5 DAE no primeiro ano e de 17 e 6,0 DAE no segundo. DOS JOGOS TRADICIONAIS ÀS TÉCNICAS CORPORAIS: UM ESTUDO A PARTIR DAS RELAÇÕES ENTRE JOGO E CULTURA LÚDICA

Contemporaneity influences the use of bodies, affecting social relationships, cultural dynamics and play. In this sense, it is necessary to problematize the interrelationships between contemporary society, playful culture and its body techniques, developed by traditional games. Thus, this exploratory study aims to understand the role of play in cultural dynamics, emphasizing the creative processes and the impact of historical periods and their socio-cultural contexts on body techniques, evidenced from traditional games. The close relationships between society, body techniques, play and toy, in the midst of the creative processes of co-construction and resignification of playful culture by children, were noted. Therefore, it is clear that the changes coming from contemporaneity are impacting, because by changing times and spaces, they transform traditional games, causing complex chain reactions over the years and significant changes in the expression and use of the body in play and, consequently, in body techniques.La contemporaneidad influye en los cuerpos, afectando las relaciones sociales, dinámicas culturales y juegos. Es importante problematizar las interrelaciones entre la sociedad contemporánea, la cultura lúdica y sus técnicas corporales, desarrolladas por los juegos tradicionales. Este estudio exploratorio pretende comprender el juego en la dinámica cultural, los procesos creativos, el impacto de los períodos históricos en las técnicas corporales, evidenciadas por los juegos tradicionales. Se constataron relaciones entre la sociedad, las técnicas corporales, el juego y el juguete, en los procesos creativos de co-construcción y resignificación de la cultura lúdica en los niños. Así pues, es evidente que los cambios derivados de la contemporaneidad son impactantes, porque al cambiar los tiempos y los espacios, transforman los juegos tradicionales, provocando complejas reacciones en cadena a lo largo de los años y cambios significativos en la expresión y el uso del cuerpo en el juego y, por consiguiente, en las técnicas corporales.A contemporaneidade influencia o uso dos corpos, afetando as relações sociais, a dinâmica cultural e o jogo. Nesse sentido, é necessário problematizar as inter-relações entre sociedade contemporânea, cultura lúdica e suas técnicas corporais, desenvolvidas pelos jogos tradicionais. Assim, esse estudo exploratório objetiva compreender o papel do jogo na dinâmica cultural, enfatizando os processos criativos e o impacto dos períodos históricos e seus contextos socioculturais nas técnicas corporais, evidenciado a partir dos jogos tradicionais. Constatou-se as estreitas relações entre sociedade, técnicas corporais, jogo e brinquedo, em meio aos processos criativos de co-construção e ressignificação da cultura lúdica pelas crianças. Portanto, é evidente que as mudanças advindas da contemporaneidade configuram-se impactantes, pois ao alterar tempos e espaços, transformam os jogos tradicionais, provocando uma complexa reação em cadeia ao longo dos anos e significativas alterações na expressão e uso do corpo no jogo e, consequentemente, nas técnicas corporais

Introduction: Among the specialties, the maxillofacial surgery is one in which the professional is more exposed to accidents and complications. Thus, once the surgery is indicated, it is important to have a detailed surgical planning based on the physical examination and imaging examinations, in order to avoid iatrogenies. Objective: To report an atypical and rare case of suture needle fracture aftersuturing in minor oral surgery. Case report: Female patient, with the presence of a suture needle in parapharyngeal space, removed by surgical procedure under general anesthesia. Conclusion: The patient progresses well, without complications. Avaliação da qualidade de vida e perfil epidemiológico de mulheres adultas com acne facial

Introdução: A acne é uma doença inflamatória crônica da unidade sebácea. Embora acometa principalmente adolescentes, constata-se uma prevalência elevada em adultos, em especial nas mulheres. A acne feminina adulta tem sido associada a má qualidade de vida (QV) e é capaz de impactar tanto a autoestima como os relacionamentos pessoais e profissionais. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal de natureza quantitativa realizado através da aplicação de questionários para avaliar a QV e o perfil epidemiológico de mulheres adultas com acne facial entre 25 e 50 anos atendidas em um ambulatório clínico da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC). Resultados: Um total de 20 mulheres com acne facial participaram da pesquisa. A idade média foi de 32,45 anos, sendo a maioria branca, casada e com ensino superior incompleto. A maioria não realizou tratamento prévio, e o perfil mais encontrado foi de início da acne na adolescência e de sua persistência na idade adulta. Grande parte das mulheres utilizavam maquiagem. Além disso, foram observados baixos escores em cada um dos quatro domínios do questionário Acne-QoL, com resultados estatisticamente significativos correlacionando a idade com os domínios de autopercepção e de papel emocional.
