Halo and Relic Sources in Clusters of Galaxies
New images of 7 radio halos and relics, obtained with the Very Large Array at
20 or 90 cm, are presented here. The existence of a cluster-wide radio halo in
the clusters A 665 and CL 0016+16 is confirmed. Both these clusters share the
properties of the other clusters with radio halos, i.e. are luminous in X-rays,
have high temperature, and show recent merger processes. No diffuse sources are
detected in a sample of clusters showing at least a tailed radio galaxy within
300 kpc from the cluster center, indicating that the connection between tailed
radio galaxies and halos is not relevant. For these clusters we give limits to
the surface brightness and to the angular size of possible undetected diffuse

Clan structure analysis and new physics signals in pp collisions at LHC
The study of possible new physics signals in global event properties in pp
collisions in full phase space and in rapidity intervals accessible at LHC is
presented. The main characteristic is the presence of an elbow structure in
final charged particle MD's in addition to the shoulder observed at lower c.m.

VLBI observations of nearby radio loud Active Galactic Nuclei
We present an update of the parsec scale properties of the Bologna Complete
Sample consisting of 95 radio sources from the B2 Catalog of Radio Sources and
the Third Cambridge Revised Catalog (3CR), with z < 0.1. Thanks to recent new
data we have now parsec scale images for 76 sources of the sample. Most of them
show a one-sided jet structure but we find a higher fraction of two-sided
sources in comparison with previous flux-limited VLBI surveys. A few peculiar

Radio Halo and Relic Candidates from the NRAO VLA Sky Survey
We present the first results of the search of new halo and relic candidates
in the NRAO VLA Sky Survey. We have inspected a sample of 205 clusters from the
X-ray-brightest Abell-type clusters presented by Ebeling et al (1996), and
found 29 candidates. Out of them, 11 clusters are already known from the
literature to contain a diffuse cluster-wide source, while in 18 clusters this
is the first indication of the existence of this type of sources. We classify
these sources as halos or relics according to their location in the cluster
center or periphery, respectively. We find that the occurrence of cluster halos
and relics is higher in clusters with high X-ray luminosity and high
temperature. We also confirm the correlation between the absence of a cooling

Clan Properties in Parton Showers
By considering clans as genuine elementary subprocesses, i.e., intermediate
parton sources in the Simplified Parton Shower model, a generalized version of
this model is defined. It predicts analytically clan properties at parton level
in agreement with the general trends observed experimentally at hadronic level
and in Monte Carlo simulations both at partonic and hadronic level. In
particular the model shows a linear rising in rapidity of the average number of
clans at fixed energy of the initial parton and its subsequent bending for
rapidity intervals at the border of phase space, and approximate energy
independence of the average number of clans in fixed rapidity intervals. The
energy independence becomes stricter by properly normalizing the average number

Diffuse radio emission from the Intracluster medium
An important aspect of the radio emission from galaxy clusters is represented
by the diffuse radio sources associated with the intracluster medium: radio
halos, relics and mini-halos. The radio halos and relics are indicators of
cluster mergers, whereas mini-halos are detected at the center of cooling core
clusters. SKA will dramatically improve the knowledge of these sources, thanks
to the detection of new objects, and to detailed studies of their spectra and
polarized emission. SKA will also provide the opportunity to investigate the
presence of halos produced by radiation scattered by a powerful radio galaxy at

The inner kiloparsec of the jet in 3C264
We present new multi-frequency EVN, MERLIN and VLA observations of the radio
source 3C264, sensitive to linear scales ranging from the parsec to several
kiloparsecs. The observations confirm the existence of regions with different
properties in the first kiloparsec of the jet. The most remarkable feature is
the transition between a well collimated narrow jet at distances from the core
below 80 pc, to a conical-shaped wide jet, with an opening angle of 20 degrees.
Another change of properties, consisting of an apparent deflection of the jet
ridge line and a diminution of the surface brightness, occurs at a distance of
300 pc from the core, coincident with the radius of a ring observed at optical
wavelengths. Our observations add new pieces of information on the spectrum of
the radio-optical jet of 3C264, with results consistent with a synchrotron
emission mechanism and a spectrum break frequency in the infrared. Brightness
profiles taken perpendicularly to the jet of 3C264 are consistent with a spine
brightened jet at distances below 100 pc from the core, and an edge-brightened
jet beyond, which can be interpreted as evidence of a transverse jet velocity
structure. Our observations do not allow us to distinguish between the presence
of a face--on dust and gas disk at the center of the host galaxy of 3C264, or
rather an evacuated bubble. However, the properties of the jet structure, the
changes in the polarization angle, and the plausible jet orientation can be
naturally brought into agreement in the bubble scenario.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures, accepted in A&
Scenarios for multiplicity distributions in pp collisions in the TeV energy region
Possible scenarios based on available experimental data and phenomenological
knowledge of the GeV energy region are extended to the TeV energy region in the
framework of the weighted superposition mechanism of soft and semi-hard events.
KNO scaling violations, forward-backward multiplicity correlations, Hq vs. q
