To consider Jews and gender within German Studies is to explore the evolution of German‐Jewish Studies with respect to feminist and gender studies. At times this involves looking beyond German Studies to other scholarship in Jewish gender studies, an interdisciplinary subfield in its own right. Over the past few decades, the focus on gender within German‐Jewish Studies has experienced several shifts in line with broader trends: an initial focus on the history of Jewish women and feminist movements gradually expanded to encompass the study of gender identity, masculinity, and sexuality. Historical and literary scholarly approaches now operate alongside and in dialogue with interdisciplinary scholarship in cultural studies, film and visual studies, performance studies, and other fields. Estudo sobre oportunidades de recuperação de calor em uma indústria frigorífica para substituição de uma caldeira geradora de vapor por um aquecedor de água
Dentre as constantes alterações climáticas que vem ocorrendo ao longo dos tempos, seguramente a que mais preocupa o homem é alteração da temperatura ambiente, provocada principalmente pelo aumento demasiado do consumo de combustíveis fósseis e o desmatamento de florestas nativas, que no Brasil é bastante evidente. Estas práticas influenciam o regime de chuvas e comprometem diretamente a qualidade de vida na Terra. Apesar da água ser fundamental para a manutenção da vida do ser humano, no Brasil, a falta dela causa uma preocupação ainda maior, que é a diminuição da oferta de energia elétrica, uma vez que 70% da geração deste tipo de energia provêm de hidrelétricas. Daí a preocupação cada vez maior em buscar processos mais eficientes do ponto de vista de consumo de energia elétrica. Dentro deste contexto, o objetivo geral deste trabalho foi evidenciar a possibilidade de ganhos energéticos através da recuperação de energia no ambiente industrial. O trabalho foi realizado em um frigorífico abatedouro de frangos de uma grande empresa de alimentos, que consome em seus processos uma quantidade de energia muito alta e em várias formas. Dos energéticos utilizados neste tipo de indústria, tem-se vapor como um dos insumos mais importantes, sendo gerado em grandes quantidades. Embora, no processo analisado não haja a necessidade de vapor em nenhuma das etapas de beneficiamento do produto final. Neste trabalho é mostrado como o vapor é utilizado no frigorífico estudado, qual a sua finalidade e por que há atualmente, uma dependência tão forte deste recurso. São apresentadas alternativas que foram encontradas para substituição completa deste insumo energético. O trabalho mostrou as alternativas de recuperação de energia e o impulso positivo gerado para obtenção do objetivo principal. Um aquecedor de água utilizando combustível misto (cavaco de madeira misturado a uma porção de 10% em massa de lodo centrifugado de estação de tratamento de efluente da empresa) é proposto, sendo identificado um retorno dos investimentos previstos em 3 anos e 7 meses a uma taxa de financiamento de 14% ao ano. O projeto garantiu o abastecimento de água quente sem a utilização de vapor, a um custo menor, e ainda obteve ganhos ambientais relevantes, que foi a redução de 23,7% no consumo de biomassa, e a utilização no aquecedor de 60 toneladas por mês de material rejeitado do processo industrial.From among the constants climatic changes that has been occurring throughout the ages, undoubtedly the what worries man is temperature variation, caused mainly by the increase far too consumption of fossil fuels and deforestation of native forests, which in Brazil is quite evident. These practices influence the rainfall and directly affect the quality of life on Earth. Although water is essential for the maintenance of human life, in Brazil, the lack of water brings an even greater concern, which is the reduction of electricity supply, because 70% of the generation this type of energy are derived from hydropower. Hence, the growing concern in seeking more efficient processes from the point of sight of energy consumption. In this context, the objective of this work is to demonstrate the possibility energy saving through energy recovery in the industry. The study was conducted in a poultry slaughterhouse of a large food company that uses in its processes a very high amount of energy and in various forms. The energetic used in this type of industry, it has been steam as a major input, being generated in large quantities. Although, the analyzed process there is no need to steam in any of the manufacture steps of the final product. In this work it is shown as the steam is used in the slaughterhouse studied, for what purpose and why there is currently so strong dependence on this resource. Presented are alternatives that have been found for complete replacement of this energy input. The work showed the alternatives of energy recovery and the positive impulse generated to obtain the main objective. A water heater using mixed fuel (wood chip mixed with a 10% by mass portion of dried sludge from the company's effluent treatment plant) is proposed, with a return on investment of 3 years and 7 months at a financing rate of 14% per year. The project guaranteed the supply of hot water without the use of steam, at a lower cost, and also obtained significant environmental gains, which was the reduction of 23.7% in biomass consumption, and the use in the heater of 60 tons of material rejected from the industrial process
Diseño de un sistema de producción para incrementar la competitividad empresarial en la exportación artesanal peletera en el distrito de Sicuani
Esta tesis, fue realizada en el contexto del distrito de Sicuani del departamento del Cusco, tiene el objetivo de diseñar un sistema productivo que incremente la competitividad empresarial para la exportación artesanal peletera en esta zona que hoy es parcialmente beneficiada en esta actividad por la capacidad emprendedora de los pobladores. Para esto, en la primera parte se realizó un diagnóstico completo de la industria Peletera en este distrito a través de la descripción de la realidad problemática, analizando a los actores directos que son los emprendimientos actuales.
El presente estudio constituye una investigación de nivel descriptiva y propositiva, ya que permitió describir los factores causales que han incidido y afectado en la producción y comercialización de los emprendimientos de actividad artesanal peletera, siendo así, se realizaron encuestas a estos mismos actores, donde de forma no aleatoria se determinó como muestra a toda la población; además entre otras técnicas de investigación, se realizaron revisiones bibliográficas, entrevistas, consultas especializadas, análisis documentales, observación directa, registro fotográfico, de video y el mapeo.
En referencia a los resultados, se concluyó que actualmente en la localidad de Sicuani, no existe competitividad empresarial para la exportación artesanal peletera, ya que sus pequeños volúmenes de producción se dan por cada emprendedor por su propio esfuerzo y de forma independiente, sin poder cubrir la demanda y exportar. Siendo así se ha diseñado un Sistema de producción, que involucra la formación de una asociación con cada uno de los emprendedores, que busca cubrir una demanda internacional en los productos de alfombras, prendas de vestir y juguetería, se ha diseñado el proceso completo por producto, se ha medido la capacidad de la planta, la ubicación de las instalaciones, su distribución así como el diseño de cargos, el manejo adecuado de la cadena de suministros, el control de calidad bajo los estándares demandados, el correspondiente mantenimiento y el análisis financiero que demuestra finalmente la rentabilidad a mediano y largo plazo

El presente trabajo de investigación es un business consulting aplicado al colegio San Gabriel de
la ciudad de Cusco, empresa que brinda servicios en la modalidad de educación básica regular en
los niveles de inicial, primaria y secundaria. Dicha institución solicitó la consultoría ya que los
padres de familia y alumnos no eran del todo partícipes en los proyectos clave con los que el
colegio busca ofrecer valor y diferenciación. En el desarrollo de la investigación se identificó
que, muchos padres de familia, alumnos y profesores no conocen a detalle toda la propuesta de
valor y tampoco los proyectos clave de diferenciación del colegio, teniendo una limitada
percepción de la oferta educativa y por ende dejando de disfrutar dichos beneficios. Se determinó
que la causa principal de este problema es que el colegio no ha establecido la forma correcta ni el
canal para comunicar los diferenciadores de la propuesta de valor a sus stakeholders. Como
solución se planteó la aplicación de un plan de comunicación que integre estrategias y
actividades para comunicar cada uno de los diferenciadores, e integrarlos como propuesta de
valor. Esto se vio reflejado en un incremento en la percepción de valor de clientes actuales y
potenciales, mayor disposición de pago a precios más altos, y finalmente aplicando una
estrategia de precio basada en valor, se proyecta el incremento de los ingresos, así como mayor
rentabilidad de la empresa.This research work is a business consulting applied to the San Gabriel school in the city
of Cusco, a company that provides services in the modality of regular basic education in the
levels of kindergarten, elementary and high school. This institution requested the consultancy
because parents and students were not fully involved in the key projects with which the school
seeks to offer value and differentiation. In the development of the research, it was identified that
many parents, students and teachers do not know in detail all the value proposition and key
differentiation projects of the school, having a limited perception of the educational offer and
therefore not enjoying these benefits. It was determined that the main cause of this problem is
that the school has not established the correct way or channel to communicate the differentiators
of the value proposition to its stakeholders. As a solution, we proposed the implementation of a
communication plan that integrates strategies and activities to communicate each of the
differentiators, and integrate them as a value proposition. This was reflected in an increase in the
perception of value of current and potential customers, greater willingness to pay higher prices,
and finally by applying a value-based pricing strategy, an increase in revenue is projected, as
well as greater profitability of the company
Selection on dispersal drives evolution of metabolic capacities for energy production in female wing-polymorphic sand field crickets, Gryllus firmus
Life history and metabolism covary, but the mechanisms and individual traits responsible for these linkages remain unresolved. Dispersal capability is a critical component of life histories that is constrained by metabolic capacities for energy production. Conflicting relationships between metabolism and life histories may be explained by accounting for variation in dispersal and maximal metabolic rates. We used female wing-polymorphic sand field crickets, Gryllus firmus, selected either for long wings (LW) and flight-capability or short wings (SW) and high early lifetime fecundity to test the hypothesis that selection on dispersal capability drives the evolution of metabolic capacities. While resting metabolic rates were similar, long-winged crickets reached higher maximal metabolic rates than short-winged crickets, resulting in improved running performance. We further provided insight into the mechanisms responsible for covariation between life history and metabolism by comparing mitochondrial content of tissues involved in powering locomotion and assessing function of mitochondria isolated from long- and short-winged crickets. This demonstrated that larger metabolic capacities in long-winged crickets were underpinned by increases in mitochondrial content of dorsoventral flight muscle and enhanced bioenergetic capacities of mitochondria within the fat body, a tissue responsible for fuel storage and mobilization. Thus, selection on flight-capability remodels metabolism in a trait and tissue-specific manner to enlarge metabolic capacities necessary for dispersal
Caracterización de las enfermedades cerebrovasculares en pacientes atendidos en cuidados intensivos del hospital Guillermo Domínguez
La incidencia de enfermedades cerebrovasculares aumenta con la edad y son la tercera causa de muerte en Cuba. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, con el objetivo de caracterizar el comportamiento de las referidas enfermedades en pacientes atendidos en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del hospital general docente “Guillermo Domínguez López” de Puerto Padre, provincia Las Tunas, en el período comprendido entre el primero de enero de 2011 y el 31 de marzo de 2012. La muestra se conformó con los 145 pacientes que presentaron afección cerebro vascular de tipo isquémica y hemorrágica. Las variables utilizadas fueron la edad, sexo, complicaciones, mortalidad y acciones de enfermería realizadas. Para el procesamiento y análisis de la información se creó una base de datos. El grupo de edad más frecuente fue el de 56 años y más, con un 48,46% las hemorrágicas; predominó el sexo femenino en los hemorrágicos, con un 30,34%; la complicación que más incidió fue la bronconeumonía; la mortalidad fue mayor en las enfermedades cerebro vasculares hemorrágicas, con el 86,66%, y las acciones de enfermerías más frecuentes fueron las de tipo independientes, con un 60,72
