EP 1003266 A UPAB: 20000706 NOVELTY - The flying body is designed for essentially fixed positioning up to the stratosphere with equipment (2) suitable for holding it at a predefined altitude using aerostatic buoyancy and or an aerodynamic effect. There is equipment for maintaining longitudinal and lateral positions and an arrangement for supplying it with energy via electromagnetic waves from a supply station. The supply arrangement has at least one photoelectric converter (1) that can be pivoted so that the active surface of the converter is positioned optimally towards the incident electromagnetic radiation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for a flying body system with a flying body and a supply station, for a mobile information transmission station and for a data acquisition and transmission system. USE - For data acquisition and transmission, e.g. for message and television transmissions. ADVANTAGE - Enables wireless supply from a supply station by electromagnetic waves with optimal positioning of the active surface of a photoelectric converter towards the incident electromagnetic radiation

Stochastic and deterministic broadband UHF RFID channel models for indoor localization

    No full text
In general, RFID channel models in the ultrahigh frequency band are described as narrowband flat-fading channel models, distinguishing between line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight models. However, some RFID applications like ranging cover a much higher bandwidth which leads to frequency-selective fading channels. Therefore, new appropriate channel models, particularly for the ultra-high frequency band, have to be developed and adapted to the special needs of the RFID technology. This paper enhances and suggests deterministic and stochastic wideband channel models for ultra-high frequency RFID wideband localization applications

WO2003007568 A UPAB: 20030410 NOVELTY - The arrangement has a device for (12) for determining digital correction values for the signal to be transmitted, which receives an input (S1) from a modulator (2) and a second input (S6) from an AD converter (16) which generates a digital version of the signal sampled at the output of a power amplifier (10). A DA converter (4) produces analog signals from the digital baseband version, and further DA converters (18, 20) generate analog correction values (a, b) which are fed to a complex multiplier (8) to compensate for the determined nonlinearities of the signal path. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method of performing predistortion linearization. USE - For predistortion to achieve overall linearization of signals which are to pass through a nonlinear path, e.g. a transmitter power amplifier handling QPSK, OFDM, or CDMA signals, such as one used in a repeater for mobile radio service. ADVANTAGE - Enables linearization of very broadband signals, e.g. of 10 MHz bandwidth, with good control over the linearization function

The method involves dividing digital information into part information with such a data amount that the error probability occurrence of the processing part information is low. An identifier is derivated from each part information. The identifier is allocated to the corresponding part information. The part information together with the identifiers are processed. Potential manipulated part information are determined based on the identifiers. USE - Especially for video surveillance. ADVANtAGE - Minimises erroneous scoring of processed information as manipulated when disruption occurs when processed

Realization of a CDMA-based RFID system using a semi-active UHF transponder

    No full text
RFID systems may increase the efficiency of logistic systems, e.g., inventory of stocks. Unfortunately, present existing systems come fast to their limits if a great amount of RFID transponder must be inventoried in very short time, as the channel access method of current RFID systems is Time Division Multiple Access. To shorten the inventory process, this work shows a first realization of an RFID-based semi-active UHF transponder using a Code Division Multiple Access method. The work concentrates on the uplink channel (tag to reader) that covers the transponder's backscattered signals. This channel access method enables simultaneous transfer of data, meaning that all transponder in the field may respond at the same time within the same frequency band. The data transfer realized for the uplink channel, uses a certain set of orthogonal spreading sequences (modified Gold codes) being different for every transponder. The RFID reader used in this work despreads the backscat tered signals and decodes the data of the different transponder. Briefly, this work shows, in principle, the opportunity for a simultaneous data transfer on the uplink channel in RFID systems, which in turn may shorten very much the time for a complete inventory round

Biologically-active stilbene derivatives and compositions thereof

    No full text
The present invention relates to stilbene derivatives which are structurally close to the natural compound resveratrol and which possess a large spectrum of biological activities, particularly anti-cancer, antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities. The invention further concerns pharmaceutical and nutraceutical compositions containing such stilbene derivatives and their uses as therapeutic agents or nutritional supplements
