Repair of Postinfarction VSD: How I Teach It

The purpose of this video is to provide cardiac surgeons in training institutions with some helpful hints on teaching their residents how to repair a postinfarction ventricular septal defect. Even though the patients presenting with this pathology are usually sick, the operation can be taught safely to the surgeon in training provided that there are no concomitant procedures.
</p
Severe triple vessel disease secondary to IgG4‐related coronary periarteritis
International audienceBackground: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease is a rare systemic inflammatory disease that can lead to vascular manifestations such as periarteritis. Case Presentation: A 41-year-old man with stress angina was referred for coronary bypass surgery due to triple vessel coronary disease. Conclusions: Operative findings revealed significant adhesions and dense pericoronary and periaortic thickening, also involving the left internal mammary artery. The IgG4-associated disease was confirmed by aortic pathology. The stress angina subsequently improved with the initiation of treatment with prednisone and rituximab
Glucagonoma syndrome: Survival 21 years with concurrent liver metastases
A patient who survived for 21 years since initial discovery of
glucagonoma with concurrent liver metastases is described. Psychiatric
symptoms, weight loss, necrolytic migratory erythema, diarrhea, and dia
betes mellitus developed gradually after diagnosis of the tumor. No
specific treatment was administered. The longevity of this patient may
be related to the slow tumor growth expressed histologically by ischemic
necrosis of the malignant cells and in imaging by extensive tumor
calcifications, a very rare finding in this type of the tumor
