On the congruence subgroup property for GGS-groups
We show that all GGS-groups with non-constant defining vector satisfy the
congruence subgroup property. This provides, for every odd prime , many
examples of finitely generated, residually finite, non-torsion groups whose
profinite completion is a pro- group, and among them we find torsion-free
groups. This answers a question of Barnea. On the other hand, we prove that the
GGS-group with constant defining vector has an infinite congruence kernel and
is not a branch group.Comment: v2 incorporates referee suggestions (final version

Lubrication of DLC Coatings with Two Tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate Anion-Based Ionic Liquids
The lubrication of a Cr-DLC coating with ethyl-dimethyl-2-methoxyethylammonium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluoropho-sphate [(NEMM)MOE][FAP] and 1-butyl-1-methylpyrro-lidinium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate [BMP] [FAP] ionic liquids (ILs) as 1 wt% additives to a polyalphaolefin (PAO 6) was studied. Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) was also used as reference in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the ILs. Reciprocating ball-on-plate tribological tests at loads of 20 and 40 N were performed. The results showed that both ILs exhibited a friction reduction, especially at the lowest load tested. Antiwear properties were also improved; the PAO 6 + 1% [BMP][FAP] mixture was slightly better, close to the values for PAO 6 + 1% ZDDP. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated that the additive–surface interaction was responsible for the tribological improvement
In silico logistic model for table olive related microorganisms as a function of sodium metabisulphite, cinnamaldehyde, pH, and Type of acidifying agent
A probabilistic/logistic model, based on binary data (growth/no growth), was used to assess the effects of sodium metabisulphite (SM) and cinnamaldehyde (CIN; 0-1000 mg/L) against the main microbial groups found in table olive environment [lactic acid bacteria (LAB), yeasts, and Enterobacteriaceae], according to pH (range 3.5-5.0), and type of acidifying agent (HCl or pyruvic acid). The inhibitory effect of SM depended on the pH while that of CIN was scarcely influenced by it (except for LAB). LAB were more sensitive to SM, while yeasts were to CIN. The use of pyruvic acid for correction of pH always produced a reduction (compared to HCl) of the inhibitory power of both preservatives. The in silico models for HCl showed that, at pH 4.0, and growth probability 0.01, the LAB population might be inhibited by the presence in the medium of 150 mg/L SM or 1000 mg/L CIN, while in the case of yeasts, 450 mg/L SM, or 150 mg/L CIN are required. No growth of Enterobacteriaceae was observed at this (or lower) pH level. The results obtained may contribute to the stabilization of non-thermally treated table olive packaging. This research has received funding from INTERACEITUNA (Organización Interprofesional de la Aceituna de Mesa, Spain) and the Junta de Andalucía. A strike-slip fault corridor within the Alpujarra Mountains (Betic Cordilleras, Spain)
15 páginas, 6 figuras.[EN] In a long »corridor« in the internal zone of the Betic Cordilleras, bounded to the north by the Sierra Nevada and to the south by the Sierras Lujar, Contraviesa and Gador, two discernible bands of strike-slip faults exist: These bands lie in an approximately E-W direction and are well exposed throughout and beyond the 85 km long belt.
The characteristic features of strike-slip faults, such as cataclastic rocks composed of variously textured fault breccia, which also include fragments of rocks up to several metres in size, incipient foliation, and striation demonstrate the right-lateral nature of the displacement. There are also fractures which run in a NW-SE and NNE-SSW direction, and apparently originated after formation of the E-W faults. The magnitude of lateral displacements is difficult to calculate. Evidence of considerable vertical movement can be found locally.
This study was carried out under the auspices of the Departamento

Tunable thermal quenching of photoluminescence in Mg-doped p-type GaN
We have studied the thermal quenching of the ultraviolet luminescence band with a maximum at about 3.25 eV in p-type Mg-doped GaN. The characteristic temperature of the thermal quenching of photoluminescence (PL) gradually shifted to higher temperatures with increasing excitation intensity. This effect is explained by a population inversion of charge carriers at low temperatures, which suddenly converts into a quasiequilibrium population as the temperature increases above the characteristic value. Tunable quenching of PL has been observed only in some of the GaN:Mg samples. The absence of the tunable quenching of PL in another group of GaN:Mg samples is preliminarily attributed to different types of dominant nonradiative defects in the two groups of samples
Characteristics of the growth of table olive yeasts at low temperature
The behaviour of Picchia anomala, Picchia
membranaefaciens, Pichia minuta, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida diddensii, Candida famata y Debaryomyces hansenii, isolated form olive fermentations at low temperature was studied. The response, growth rate, at increasing time intervals, was studied by means of a General Linear Model (GLM) repeated measures, paying special attention to interactions. The most vigorous yeasts in
YMGP were P. anomala, C. diddensii, y Deb. hansenii, who were able to grow at 7ºC and 8% salt. In brine, in addition to the main
effects, the interactions salt-yeast, time-pH, time-yeast-species were also significant. P. membranaefaciens showed greater salt tolerance in brine than in YMPG. S. cerevisiae, P. minuta and C. famata were inhibited of both pH 3,5 and pH 4 at 7ºC. A sinergistic effect of salt
and pH can inhibit yeast growth at 7ºC.Se ha estudiado el comportamiento de Picchia anomala, Picchia membranaefaciens, Pichia minuta, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Candida diddensii, Candida famata y Debaryomyces Hansenii a bajas temperaturas.

Green luminescence in Mg-doped GaN
A majority of the point defects in GaN that are responsible for broad photoluminescence (PL) bands remain unidentified. One of them is the green luminescence band (GL2) having a maximum at 2.35 eV which was observed previously in undoped GaN grown by molecular-beam epitaxy in Ga-rich conditions. The same PL band was observed in Mg-doped GaN, also grown in very Ga-rich conditions. The unique properties of the GL2 band allowed us to reliably identify it in different samples. The best candidate for the defect which causes the GL2 band is a nitrogen vacancy (VN). We propose that transitions of electrons from the conduction band to the +/2+ transition level of the VN defect are responsible for the GL2 band in high-resistivity undoped and Mg-doped GaN
Breakdown of anomalous channeling with ion energy for accurate strain determination in gan-based heterostructures
The influence of the beam energy on the determination of strain state with ion channeling in GaN-based heterostructures (HSs) is addressed. Experimental results show that anomalous channeling may hinder an accurate analysis due to the steering effects at the HS interface, which are more intense at lower ion energies. The experimental angular scans have been well reproduced by Monte Carlo simulations, correlating the steering effects with the close encounter probability at the interface. Consequently, limitations in the determination of the strain state by ion channeling can be overcome by selecting the adequate beam energy
